- Check if your Volvo S60, V70, XC70, S80 or XC90 have pending DTCs.Hidden diagnostic menu will only tell you which modules have diagnostic trouble codes that are not so important to indicate with check engine light.

Hey, this used to work on my s40, hold read and press fog light twice for DTC's in vehicle menu, done it multiple times, went to do it today and nothing happened, does this means there are no DTC's to show or is there another reason it would stop working to show this menu?

Works on my 04 s80 but not my 06 s60r 😶 s60 has front and rear fogs. Any advice on that?

Thank you for your site, great info,My 2003 xc70 has some strange messages coming up. Clearance bulbs and check brake lights both of which are working fine. I also just swapped out the two front seats and the rear view mirror and now have the SDS light on and the dome lights wont come on with door opening but come on and off while driving and the remote key FOB no longer works.Any suggestion's?
I hope you still have the review mirror assy. Inside the mirror housing is a control module "UEM", The key fob is "married" the the UEM , as such there is no reprogramming the key FOB.

Hi, mr-fix. Any idea of what holding the odometer button for ~10s. on ignition position II does? It showed some numbers and then went to blank.
Yeah. This replaces text messages with index numbers of those messages.
For example if you have 3 cars with 3 different languages (let's say English, German and Polish) and you have door open, you'll see message "Door open", "Tür öffnen" or "Drzwi otwarte".
When you press and hold reset button for 10 seconds those messages will be replaces with index number for this kind of message (eg. 001). And in each car it will be the same number since those messages are related to the exact same issue.

I'd like to as you a question 01 xc70 sudden lose of power sometimes surge's from 500rpm - 800rpm but the biggest thing is it will not rev past 1200rpm any thoughts what the problem is?

I had this happen to my xc90 and it ended up being the exhaust manifold cats failed and blocked up the secondary cats...causing misfires...I also got the slow down or shift up warnings when driving it this way...

Doesnt sound TOO bad expect getting stuck in park , you mean the gearshift gets stuck ? Hope you can get that resolved easily though
Hi Mr Fix! I have a 2007 s60 w/only 50k Mi. But it has erratic problem with key fob not opening locks (about half the time we need to manually open with key) then all of a sudden it will work for awhile...then stop. when it's not working we get lots of error messages but they go away when it decides to work properly. Will this procedure help clear the problem or at least tell us what needs to be fixed? Please let us know! Thanks

I have an s80 saloon 55 plate here in the UK and what's bugging me at the moment is when I lock the car and walk away I can see tiny lights on in the rear brake cluster and they never go off but don't kill the battery either. I also have check brake lights on dash when starting up the car aswell as alarm service
Does those lights go off after starting the car? If they go off, it's normal. If they don't, then check your abs wiring from the lower arms and see. Or your hand brakes can cause brake lights to stay on the dashboard. But brake lights in rare cluster, check your foot brakes, sensors are probably faulty.

Mr Fix, I have a problem with my 2006 XC90 where I can’t get the air bag off to replace the clock spring. I have done everything a lot of videos say do to get it off but it won’t budge. I get off all the covers surrounding the steering wheel column and I run a Phillip head screwdriver in the two holes on back side of steering wheel and apply pressure but the bag will not come off. Do you have another solution?

+Patrick Funke Hi! Didn't have chance to play with the RTI system yet, but as far as I know there's only one procedure to enter hidden menu in all RTI versions. Will post something as soon as I know better.
Do you know how to turn off the alarm? My batteri is dead in the alarm so i just unplugged it, but i keep getting "alarm needs service". So i thought i could just turn it off cause i dont need it.
If there was a way to turn it off, then it wouldn't be a good protection for your car, huh? :)
You need to recode your car (remove the alarm option) but it would be cheaper (and safer) to replace the battery.

Hi Mr Fix. I have a 2009 XC90 with the Volvo Navigation System (navi) for which I need an upgrade with Latin America maps. I couldnt find any ywt. Any idea on where can I find them or if with the same hardware I can upgrade the system to another one that do have Latin maps? Thanks

So this is nice however where do i see the codes so i can figure out what needs to be fixed? I already know i have a problem but without the codes I can't do anything about it and I don't have the money to pay someone to tell me the codes.
Sorry, but without a scanner, diagnostic interface etc... you can not pull the codes from Volvo car.

Unfortunately you can not change the language yourself. You need to go to your dealers or find a garage that specialize in Volvo.

XC60 instrument cluster is different then this one and this procedure will not work in your car. As soon as we find something interesting for XC60 we will post it here.

My x90 started blowing tons of white smoke out tail pipe. Runs fine. No loss of power. Turbo fine. Mainly at idol. Don't blow while driving. Until::: The vacume line on intake I noticed was collapsed. So I replace it with new hose and now it blowing even more smoke and while driving now. Used to only smoke when you came to a stop and idoling. Any help? I hear maybe the crank case venting system. PCV valve?

Sorry, no. You can only do it with Volvo diagnostic interface and just for the diagnostic time.

Do you know how to activate remote start feature without going to the dealership and get charged $500 for a software upgrade? It doesn't sound feasible to be charged for something that is already there just to wake it up...
Unlike VW group cars, Volvo need software update/change to enable features.
In VW you just connect with diagnostic interface and adjust settings. In Volvo you need to reflash control modules...

i got to the srs ready thingy but how can i see what codes are active? i know i had srs 0034 and srs 0105. is the only way to clear the codes by going into an authorized dealer? i fixed a cable that had snapped off in the drivers seat chair but that didnt remove the srs airbag warning on the display.
you need a special scanner to erase the srs airbag light. I purchased one off ebay for about $200 I work on a lot of Volvos. if you were in san diego, I could reset it for you for a few bucks $$

@@bjerr1ng usually turns out to be scanned as a bad clock spring in the sttering column... I'd start there--despite this post being 4 yrs old.. lol
How do u actually read the specific codes? Just says 'set'.
You need to have an OBD scanner for that purpose...
I thought the warning light said dics in vehicle 😂😂😂

Można jedynie sprawdzić które moduły mają zapisane błędy. Przy akcjach jesień/wiosna w ASO Volvo dostaje się taki wydruk z podstawową diagnostyką. Nie ma tam nic o konkretnych numerach błędów, ale widać które układy zgłaszają usterki.

Dynamic Stability Traction Control. TC - basically transfers power from one wheel, loss traction, to other wheel. SC - It controls the wheels from spinning when you accelerate.

Yes. No code, no option to clear the code. You can just verify that code is present in the module.

After going thru hidden menu, now I have dstc error for a second every time i start up the car :// NOT WORTH IT
Check If your battery is in good condition. If you drained it a bit while holding the car with ignition on abs play with the menu, you can have voltage drops below some minimum value which resets DSTC module each time you crank the engine.

You can buy A simple tool to erase those DTC's for $30 bucks anynore.. (of course mine is alot more comprehensive), but it kiils me how many comment rude stuff as if you expect someone to spend their entire lives giving away free info to everyones questions or something.. If your so frustrated--why bother looking--just be one who uses dealer service n bitch about the bill you get aready.. My lord...--Autozone stores and many other auto parts places can erase your codes for free-- (not always a good idea though as if really a crazy malfunction--erasing codes doesn't provide the next mechanic with potential VALUABLE info that could help fix your problems.. _none the less if you "request" a reset --they usually will for you as I would.. but would also provide you with a printout of the DTC's you asked me to erase.. So can those stores--for free.. You have to ask..
