funny thing is neutralizing gas does stop guts, but burn calculation was changed from gen 6 onwards on facade. While burn no longer halves attack for the move facade specifically, you don't get the guts 1.5x boost anymore from neutralizing gas. So with any other move, the fusion would have been severely crippled, the move facade actually ignores the physical damage reduction, even with neutralizing gas on the field.
I actually have an Eviolite Bulk-Up Facade Vigoroth on one of my teams that runs Facade as it's STAB normal move instead of Body Slam because while it is less basepower people except a burn to hurt me when in reality it only wastes their turn and makes me stronger.
Luke bringing up Spotlight, which was removed in Gen 8, and thinking it was Instruct is the biggest dagger to my heart because Spotlight by itself would've been a great strategy.
I'm not sure how, though? All Spotlight can do is make opponents target your other Pokemon while the user sits around doing nothing else. You can't use Spotlight to make opponents hit their own allies, if that's what you were thinking.
@@Ribombastic you're underestimating the power of spotlight here, while you "can't do anything" with the pokemon using spotlight, think moreso about the redirects. redirection into destiny bond, as someone's already mentioned, but there's also the ability to redirect super effective hits into resistances and immunities, but the absolute kicker here? Heal Pulse. spotlight is unique to rage powder or follow me because you can effectively heal your ally on top of wasting your opponent's turn.
I WAS THINKING THE EXACT SAME THINNG! Tbh, gen 8’s move removals were some of the most criminal things done in this franchise. Like, there’s some moves I can absolutely understand removing (Barrage, Z-moves, etc.). However, they also removed some of the best and most important competitive and balancing moves in the game, like Hidden Power, Pursuit (which just made switching much more tactical than it currently is), Frustration and Return, Heal Order (which was Vespiquen’s signature healing move, and helped to set it apart from other mons, even if it does suck), Tail Glow, and a lot of other interesting attacks that, while niche, still could be used in fun and interesting ways… yet they kept moves like Octozooka…
I'm calling it for the future, the Gen 5 one is gonna have Contrary from the Servine line and V-Create. Contrary V-Create is one of my favorite things to see. If there's two, there's Water/Ground with Sap Sipper(Zebstrika, Bouffalaunt, Sawsbuck). It could also have Serene Grace from Sawsbuck.
Adding on to the contrary idea. I think he should have a debuffer fusion as a partner pokemon to spice it up. So they can either debuff the enemy to do less damage to the main contrary mon, or buff the contrary mon.
@@ShadowbearSOSthe debuffing idea is actually so good, prankster again from a number of gen5 mons with screech or fake tears, something that does either att or spa to suit the main fusion and then maybe heal pulse again would be awesome
And with Kyurem-Black Atk, and even Accelgor or Serperior levels of Speed stats...that would be insane. It would get faster and bulkier, and could even run Superpower to essentially have an attacking Bulk Up (Also would turn Intimidate into a boon rather then a bane) Oh and could even make it a Fire type for STAB on V-Create and being immune to burns unless they change the fusion's typing.
I honestly wanna hear more of the conversations after the battle, like what each team thought about the other teams strat, or maybe they can watch the replay of the fight as well to talk about it
I know TH-cam is full of comments like this, and I'm not really one to comment on videos very often, but I just wanted to say that this group of Pokémon content creators has really been getting me through one of the hardest periods of my life. I discovered Shady's channel first a couple of months ago when I was trying to find more Pokémon content, and since then, you have all made the days a little easier to get through. Thank you for that.
Very ironic that Luke threw a masterball at a whiscash, considering the episode in the anime with whiscash eating a masterball 😂 I don’t remember the exact episode but I remember watching it very distinctly
First off, love the "equivalent exchange" you had with names for these guys. Second, been following this series since Gen 1, and can't get enough of it. Can't imagine how tricky future generations will get after this, but keep up the great work!
With Gen 5 being the OG pokemon fusion game, i would love to see two fusions revolving around kyurem black and white as base for the fusions. Either way you do it, I'll still love the content. Keep up the great work Dylan.
Shady and Vinny not killing the helper was a dagger. Not finished yet but League should've taught Shady to murder healers, and supports QUICK GODS yea that hurts but both teams did amazing!
I definitely want you to do one of these where the challengers have randomizers without legendaries especially if there is a another underpowered generation. Great win for Luke and Pat and awesome fusion designs!
Probably would’ve been stronger with the Origin forms, but even then Gen 4 was mainly a case of well-distributed stats with very few massive one-offs since it was the Gen that introduced the physical/special split.

2-3 years from now when United Plays has done all the gens (probably including Gen 10), I would love to see a gauntlet run where the teams, knowing what is coming, must run a gauntlet of all the fusions, choosing teams for each, and totaling the number of turns across all fusions (including Alphonse) it takes for each team to take them all down. They also must abide by the rules that have accumulated across the series, so strategies that worked for say the Gen 1 fusion may no longer be valid.
I feel the double fusion move here was good and can push towards an interesting scenarios in later gen. Don't even have to be a BST situation just a situation of adding that additional layer of a challenge inside the puzzle that already needs to be solved like a mini puzzle or something. Cannot wait until the next fusion as these are good
I absolutely loved the double fusion twist for this video, it would've fit gen 5 so much more but it was really smart on your part Dylan knowing a single fusion wouldn't be as strong as gen 3's fusion I'm also assuming you're banning Intimidate and Fake out or Rage powder and water spout for the next part of the series
I see banning water spout kyogre but banning fake out and follow me/rage powder is like banning the fundamentals of double battle, the only thing left would be protect
@@darioschottlender that's valid they we're all just such big problems for the fusion battle this time around I'm surprised water spout wasn't banned earlier
The fact you named the 2 Fusions after the Elric Brothers is great, even more so since the names and roles match too. Alphonse was the supporting tank to his far more aggresive brother just like with the fusions.
I love this series, I've been looking forward to the sinnoh version of this and was glad to see you make it a dual fusion to make this harder on them. Unova is about to be tough because that's the first generation to have contrary as an ability.
I have a fun idea for a challenge. Could y’all please catch eight Pokemon of your choice that all have random abilities. Both of you also get to pick out the move sets after catching the Pokemon. Once you both acquire teams, read off each of your team members’ Pokedex entries. If the one being read to correctly identifies a Pokemon entry, he gets the option to force a trade without knowing the moveset of the identified Pokemon. The player who gets the identity correct is also able to pick out a custom ability for the traded Pokemon. Sabotaging some of your own team members is legal. Let’s say that the two leftover Pokemon with easy Pokédex entries are physical attackers like Machamp. You can rigg the entire moveset to be special or support moves. The Pokemon can’t be pseudo legends, legends, paradox, ultra beast, mythical or, starters to make it a bit more challenging.
man awesome stuff. great strats on both sides. side note; would love to see like an 'after-talk' discussion from the 2 teams talking about their strategies and how they went about it. that'd be interesting to hear each others thoughts
Finally someone brought up destiny bond. The first ep in this series I was thinking get a water type with destiny bond and a electric type, water uses destiny bond and electric uses a electric type move that hits allies’ boom, you win in at most 2 moves (Or electric with destiny bond and a ground type with Eq)
Lore wise, this would be the strongest Mon in the entirety of the series this all being said, I love the Sinnoh Duo Fusions, even if their the weakest stat wise. They’re both so rad
When they brought up skill swap, I thought, "Eventually, one of the teams is going to be desperate enough to try skill swapping Truant onto something."
It would be cool to have either a few minutes at the end or a "behind the scenes" video of the two teams reacting to the strategies the other's performed
Love the videos you create as they are always very unique an interesting! My favorite Gen is Gen 4 and really amazing seeing the different strats that people come up with using the Wild Area! Can't wait for the Gen 5 one! 😄
For gen 7 (Alola) you could probably put Neuroforce on the fusion as Neuroforce increases the damage of super effective moves giving it that extra spice to the battle
It’d be really cool if the gen 5 fusion just has two fusions, with each one being based on one of the two dragons. I think it’d be cool to have two hyper-offense mons that focus on different types of damage and potentially defensive stats. Alternatively, you could also just have the super fusion with the partner being the original dragon, taking the best stats from Zekrom, Reshiram, and Kyurem (and its alternate forms). Also, you missed the opportunity to use flare boost in this video. It’s one of Drifblim’s abilities, and it’s basicaly Guts, but for special attack, which would have been really cool for this, as it’s not seen often.
I really like these style of boss battles but I also feel that the general trend of these fights seem to be to just max out on damage instead of genius strats like the double skill swap. Not saying that Luke and Pat did any less. Rage powder and string shot was a solid strat and also there's a lot of luck involved with the randomizer since they were able to find and catch a Kyogre. So cannot take away anything from them. I just feel that using these devious strategies should be rewarded more so we get to see more of them in future vids.
18:31 Human kind can not gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain something of equal value must be lost. That is Alchemy's first law of equivalent exchange. In those days we really believed that to be the world's one and only truth.

Also, you missed the opportunity to use flare boost in this video. It’s one of Drifblim’s abilities, and it’s basicaly Guts, but for special attack, which would have been really cool for this, as it’s not seen often.
yes another one of these!! always fun to see what you come up with with each gen, and fascinating to see the teams figure out how to fight it!
Love these fusion videos! Gen 5 could be fun, could do some Contrary (serperior) + V-Create (victini) and counter stat drops
for one of the later ones you should make them have to get pokemon in a non randomised version to make it difficult
Full metal is a very good anime
I really like these style of boss battles but I also feel that the general trend of these fights seem to be to just max out on damage instead of genius strats like the double skill swap.
Not saying that Luke and Pat did any less. Rage powder and string shot was a solid strat and also there's a lot of luck involved with the randomizer since they were able to find and catch a Kyogre. So cannot take away anything from them.
I just feel that using these devious strategies should be rewarded more so we get to see more of them in future vids.
I love Luke's laugh at 41:45 😂
Definitely top 3 most fun and original pokemon series there is, maybe even top 1 in my opinion! Keep it going!💯
Fullmetal alchemist reference is greatly appreciated, especially with Alphonse being the steel type
Aaaah I was so excited for this to drop!! Posting this while the ads play out before the vid starts lol
Vinny and Shady was so fun to watch.
18:31 Human kind can not gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain something of equal value must be lost. That is Alchemy's first law of equivalent exchange. In those days we really believed that to be the world's one and only truth.
