Great points but why aren't they also addressing a major issue that is killing the transportation business. Cost of fuel. Blame it on the 2023 finance bill and perhaps things will get worse with their ever increasing levies and taxes. If these said costs come down i guarantee you kadere will be smiling all the way to the bank but increase in charges will only push clients away.🤷🏾♂️

Fuel levies increased from 8 to 16% Road levy increased by Ksh 7 just the other day. In total we have 9 taxes and levies and taxes in fuel prices which account for around 50% of fuel costs but yes, lets blame the apps and put more burden on the customer.
Apps fares are low by design. They want you to be doing something else as your main business and app driving part time. Even if fuel / other costs reduce fares will always remain low

Too much supply results in reduced prices and little number of jobs. The idea is if there are too many cab drivers or too few jobs. You stop and find something else to do. Increasing prices because there are too few jobs is not how demand and supply works. If you want the prices to go up, reduce the supply.

I think you are a bit too optimistic about the modern taxi business. Uber and Bolt literally own the customer. Most customers know they will get lower prices on uber than if they were to ask for a taxi themselves. Therefore the won't go direct. Furthermore, you can always make money if you undercut cost ie do fewer services, use knock off parts etc. But be ware such decisions can bite you in the back later. He's making something but you don't know what he is trading off to ensure he can make ends meet
Talk to your mp to pass a bill that all taxi must be within a Sacco. Then the saccos, which are few in number to bulldoze the changes. But it will be hard because politicians owns the companies - just try.
