Did you reuse the timing cam sprocket bolt or purchase a new one. I've looked at all auto parts shops . And no good.

I've owned a 2004 TB for 11 years. I never go by what the book say when it come to bolts torque. When you first said 22 ft-lbs. I was thinking, I would go 20 ft-lbs and be done with it. It is an all aluminum block. They can't handle a lot of torque. I've notice people online love to follow what the book say.
I also own a 2001 Deville and I wonder is that the reason why the Northstar head bolts are stripping out the treads. The factory over torque the head bolts.

The deville heads are stripping because the bolts are made of a different metal. They have it figured out now

Seems like you have it backward as far as new vs old bolts. The old style would torque EASIER because the friction surface area between the bolt and the washer would be far less than if the washer were forced to turn against the head.

Torque those bolts to 100 ft lb and call it a day. It's worked for me every time

I couldn't even imagine the frustration those bolts must have caused. My Trailblazer has approx 335K on it. After watching this, if it ever needs a head gasket, it probably will go to the junk yard.
