It is not all trial and error... It is math and geometry... On a small build like this where your weight is the main thing you're trying to suspend but you don't know the spring rate... the way you figure it out is ask yourself: can I compress this shock at all? And if the answer is barely AND you plan on using 2 of them you will have to leverage them significantly
Yeah, that tank looks perfect there! When it comes to all these mower builds the beef I always have is that people end up building a custom cart that sits more upright, sticking one little piece of the OG mower on and then calling it a "lawnmower build." I'm like, "Ah! So I can put the steering wheel from an F430 on my civic and call it a Ferrari?? Anyway, I appreciate how much mower you guys still have in yours.
We had the same thought. Keeping as much original possible was the goal from the beginning. Also if you want to make your civic a Ferrari put a really loud exhaust on it along with the steering wheel.
If you move the bottom of the shocker closer to the pivot point it will get softer

Yeah you’re right I did think of that but didn’t want to weaken the mounting point on an old plastic tank.
