Are these pearl’s cultured? What do you do with the oyster meat and the shells?

Yes they are cultured pearls.
No idea what they do with the shells.
The flesh is soaked in poison (probably Formaldehyde) to repel vermin in shipping.
I mean, does that LOOK like anything you would want to eat?
