Hi, are you able to do a video where you recommend products, or maybe show us your skincare routine? I think that would be so so helpful!

Hi I have had dermatitis prone/sensitive skin all my life. I'm now 44 and manage it fairly effectively. I think one of the most important things is to patch test everything and incorporate it slowly. I am currently using vitamin c and retin a for anti-aging, but both were things I introduced carefully and slowly to my skincare routine. The other thing for me, is to make sure I avoid anything highly fragranced or with alcohol denat etc, so I stand reading ingredients prior to buying anything. Also take advantage of samples, as although it isn't enough product to see if it really works, it is enough to see if any allergy type symptoms are present. I have mainly dry skin with a little more oil around the sides of my nose only, so I need to layer skincare and my skin loves oils. Interesting series - many thanks. I was a staff nurse for twenty years till severe osteoarthritis made that impossible and can take issue with some youtubers advice on skincare, as it isn't always well researched or accurate. Best wishes.

Some actual examples of product brands would be helpful, eg when you were talking about cleansers a couple of examples would have been good.

I would like like to hear your professional opinions/thoughts about the cosmetic industry and all the skincare products out there in department stores, in comparison to skincare products in a dermatologist's office. Thank you!

Thanks so much for doing the video. I must admit I did not find this video as helpful as it could be. I agree totally with what you are saying, but living in the USA am unable to see you for a prescription or product recommendations. I know what to fix, but not what to fix it with. There must be some physical sunscreens, mild cleansers, and moisturizers that are better than others for the situation you are describing.

I read somewhere that these need to be ONLY extracted by dermatologists, I doubt there is anything that can remove them except incision.

Try using a chemical exfoliant like BHA (I love salicylic acid). It works deeper to clear out skin. And look out for mineral oil in your skincare products - it's really clogging. And most importantly - ALWAYS cleanse your skin at night (preferably double cleanse if you're wearing make-up and SPF). :)

Hi Dr. Sam, could you recommend some toners/products containing lactic acid? I find them much more difficult to find than AHA glycolic toners.....

PCA Skin makes two toners. I am not sure if you can get their products in the UK, but I would check. They are a really great company that does not use glycolic or alcohol in their products. One is Lactic and Citric Acid (Smoothing Toner), and the other is Lactic Acid, Citric Acid, and Pumpkin Enzymes (Nutrient Toner). I have used both for over17 years and they are gentle, but very effective. Hope maybe those would work for you?

Hi Sophia, I've seen previous videos in which Dr Sam as recommended/ suggested Avene, La Roche Posey, or Obagi hydrate. I ordered the Obagi hydrate and I have to say it's brilliant, hope this helps x

Thank you so so much Dr. Sam and Dr. Emma for the videos :) Could you please clear my doubt on facial oils. Do oils penetrate skin? I use a facial oil which is loaded with non-fragrant plant oils, will the antioxidants in these oils be beneficial for skin? Or should it be water -based for penetration and efficacy ...? Please reply xoxo

Thanks for the advice ladies! Dr Sam, I'm battling to even find the 3 skincare basics that work for my overly sensitive skin. I'm 32, breastfeeding (my boy's nearly 2). Have acne rosacea. Am stuck in the 'cover the spots with makeup but then irritate/struggle to get my skin clean' cycle... Fragrance, SLS, alcohol being the most irritating. Any recommendations? Thanks!!

My GP prescribed Epiduo which I've patiently been using for nearly 2 months. Feels like my skin is worse then ever. Should I give it more time?

How do you know if a cleanser is non irritating? How about more affordable options like silcock's base or the simple brand non foaming cleansers, like the new oil one?

Would like your opinion on the Clinique smart custom repair serum. Will it make skin more sun sensitive? I also noticed more freckles after using it; is it just a coincidence (i.e. Poor sun protection on my part)? Thank you!
