In fact you are correct about everything. She was scheduled to debut on Sunday evening 7pm September 14 1975 as Zerbinetta with Johanna Meier, John Alexander and Olivia Stapp. I was 14 years old and there. I always thought it WAS her debut on Sept 14 because (I guess) they didn't have the budget to change the programs and it had (debut) next to her name. I later learned she had actually debuted a few days earlier. I remember the night (9/14) with such joy. It was an incredible night and so grateful someone posted the aria from that night. I still am in shock that she is gone. '
Thank you. A great loss that we didn’t have her singing longer. I was fortunate to be growing up in opera during her complete career. She was supposed to debut as Zerbinetta (if memory serves) but this was last minute. I saw her Zerbinetta shortly after (dream cast Johanna Meier and John Alexander) and I was hooked. Met debut in Rosenkavalier. By then the voice was showing signs of stress. Too bad but a distinguished career none the less! Brava Rolandi!!!
