Those two things are very different. Yes, if you crank up the cabin heater to max then the range of the battery will decrease since you use the battery to warm yourself but I can tell you that tests have shown that it is still nowhere near 50% range decrease and it differs between different EVs.

    Finally admitting EVs fit a certain type of customer only from a practical use standard, they are not good ever to travel on longer trips...

  • @NovemberStreams
    @NovemberStreams 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

    A key piece is price vs. range ratio. A Hyundai Kona EV is 37k and gets 250 mi range.
    A California Route 1 Mach-e is 57k for only 312 mi range.
    That is 54% more cost for only 25% more range, and I think that is what customers are picking up on and avoiding.
    (I bought the Kona. ❤)

    Paying a premium? I wouldn't give Ford a dime. Several years ago we had their stock, not much but it paid .15 a share every quarter. Ford used Covid an excuse to stop paying dividends and we sold their stock at a loss. Still Fords vehicles were already so over priced we refused to buy one years before the pandemic. It's a shame really because you used to be able a nice basic pickup with a good bench seat and the heavy rubberized floors (easier to wash out farm dirt with a garden hose) basic am/fm and AC for a price, average Americans could reasonably afford. If those who ran Ford had any common sense they'd go in that direction. Unfortunately based on the non answers, they aren't that bright.

    Our government is putting pressure on these domestic car manufacturers, to produce these EVs which: 1) Are unsafe, because the manufacturers did not do the quality control under all conditions, and over an extended period of time, BEFORE THEY STARTED PRODUCING THEM FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC, and putting mandates to get rid of the internal combustion engine vehicles (watch the many videos of these vehicles starting fires, because of their volatile battery, which is a huge portion, of the mass of the vehicle): 2) The strain on our, already, over taxed, power grid, which has not been updated to meet the demand of the, fast coming, mandated demands to switch entirely over to them by 2035 (we already suffer blackouts, and brownouts, because the grid cannot handle the demand now); 3) The biggest problem is that these vehicles are, unconstitutionally, being FORCED onto the American public, who DO NOT WANT THEM, because the cannot replace the things an internal combustion engine can do, AT A MUCH LOWER PRICE. They are unaffordable, inconvenient, time consuming, and dangerous; 4) There is not the infrastructure, throughout the United States, which is available to recharge these vehicle, UNDER ALL WEATHER CONDITIONS; 5) This will be a disaster, in all states, for our supply chain, if our trucker are force over to them; 6) These vehicles will cause more accidents, because of the greater weight, due to the battery size, especially in large trucks, because the stopping distance will be significantly longer, and the accidents will be more severe to the passengers. 7) This will be an environmental nightmare once these batteries are spent, because who will want to replace the battery, at about the same price as a new EV, which will prebaby be better; and 😎 China has the corner on the market for all these rare earth minerals to produce these batteries, so we'll be dependent on our enemy. The kicker is that these EVs will not significantly help the ozone layer, if any.

Now imagine that the rest of the people have to go to a charging station to charge their cars before work. Now imagine the HOURS LONG wait to charge your car every day. That’s just ONE of the drawbacks of FORCING EVERYONE to go EV!!! These people really don’t think this ish all the way through.
