Ripslinger is based on the Racing Mustang "Precious Metal", which is a modified North American P-51D Mustang fighter with clipped wings and contra rotating propellers. He differs in having two bladed props instead of "Precious Metal's" three bladed props. He is also said to resemble a Messerschmitt BF-109, with elements of the Sharp Nemesis NXT racing plane.
i absolutely love this plane! I got it for Christmas and it fly's perfectly. Even after landing it accidentally in the water, with no modifications necessary the plane still flew perfectly.
Keep up the great job, guys! Just built the ft flyer with my 7 yr old son. He loves to watch your videos as much as i do (especially when you talk about flight character-fish-sticks). You guys are doing the hobby proud!
I love what you guys do and what you're about. I've been watching and building for around a year now. I even got into wood but the foam planes are so much fun to build and fly, I don't think I'll ever stop making new ones. Thanks so much for the great channel and inspiration.
I just wanted to say that you guys have made me want to start up a aviation club for my AFJROTC program at my school. I have watched alot of your guy's build videos and just have to say, you guys are an amazing group of people and that you guys have inspired me to help start even more people in to the rc hobby.
One of the better vids with two experienced pilots flying some fairly fast planes together. Near the end I really liked the aerial video shots. Cool plane too!
This is got to be among my top three favorite videos on your guys channel because of the "airshow style" formation flying, please do more of the formation flying vids cause it looks amazing!!!
Just wanted to say thanks for what you do.. I appreciate all the effort the flitetest crew puts into the videos and the knowledge you share, and your contribution to the hobby! You guys are great. Keep up the good work
I am relatively new to this hobby but from what iv seen and used down at the local flying club I have to say that has got to be one of the best flyer's iv seen and like you said its on rails, great work guys keep up the good work
The RC hobby is a very rewarding/addicting hobby but it is also a slightly difficult hobby. You need all the motivation you can get and then some from just yourself! I have been in this hobby for four years and I believe that you can get a tremendous amount of skills learned in one year just as long as you practice regularly! All you have to do is develop some solid skills at flying low wing planes and before you know it, you will soon be flying speed planes like the one in this video! :D
judging from what i saw in commercials for "Planes," Ripslinger was a centerline-thrust twin, with two counter-rotating props at the front. Counter rotating props would solve the problem you were having on takeoff with torque roll
Hello, i live in the netherlands, do you also ship your speedkits here as well? i wanna buy the FT racer (ripslinger) and dusty;) but when i went on your site, the powerplant wasnt availeble yet, can you tell me when do powerplant is availible? and what props do you use on the ripslinger and dusty? is it the same powerplant? And how do you paint the planes? because i want to make them as good looking as yours:) i hope you will respond on my questions:) Greetings from the Netherlands, I love you to watch to your movies:D
Yes I believe they ship to Europe, but the shipping costs are painful due to size. I'd browse their forums, as I bet other Europeans have figured out alternatives. As for electronics, I'd find their power pod article as that should have links to props, motors, etc.
Excellent job guys. I would totally buy that kit. Rip slinger was definitely my favorite one, reminds me of a pylon racer with attitude. Keep up the good work guys you are quite famous around these parts
I Was going to buy the planes but man!! the shipping to Canada was the same as the cost of the planes using USPS. There is something strange with the pricing as when I buy from the States, I insist on USPS and it's always much cheaper. I just can't afford that. I guess I will just keep on dreaming... Keep up the Great work.
I agree that you are a great at what you do and makes me wish i had the time left in this old world that you do i would follow in your footsteps in bringing joy to so many. good luck and god bless. ps i bought the kits and love them thanks so much Les
Ive been watching you guys the past couple days and hadn't realized you were in Ohio. I'm from Mansfield. Never flown, but always thought it was pretty cool. Looks like you guys have a blast!
You guy could have done with a vacuum former to make some of the parts, like the canopy. Love the design, the set and different location added that home flavour back to the show as well
hello ive orderd the Ripslinger with the beef engine ( the complete pack) but the screws that come with the motor are to short it wont fit so i hope you can fix it, the rest of the plane is verry good! Greetings, Nathanael
Dude im so sad I just Ordered one of these from an online site and got it in today but one of my pieces looks like it was dropped. So bummed nothing on yall but super excited to get a good one in and see how she flies
It's very original. and you're right. it's partly basedof a nemesis. the main part is from 'Precious Metal' wich is a mustang. It's also partly messerschmitt 109. But I like how you used your spitfire for the main body.
You guys are really awesome pilots. I've only been doing RC for half a year so I do not have that kind of skills yet;). What I want to say is that you give amazing inspiration and motivation for many newbies with your videos. Keep it up: D
i got a speed build kit, with everything they recommended, and made it like the other build video says and every single time i try to fly it takes a very sharp turn to the left ( I thought because of P factor) and nose dives into the ground... any thoughts?
I want one. painted and all please. This is just wayyy too cool as i have 3 little dudes and they would flip out to see him fly! Great video as always. keep it up guys!
Hi there. I love all your aircraft vids. I just bought a harbor freight P-51 mustang nice little bird for the buck. Was wondering if you could maybe flight test it and see what you think. Maybe some ideas on how you personally would set it up or improve it. Just a pilot to pilot thought. When it comes to flying you all are rock stars.
How do you guys keep from breaking the propeller every time you land? I don't see you guys using prop adapter (with rubber band) in any of your videos. If you just used fixed prop adapters then doesn't the prop brake everytime you land on ground?
Hey Chad! Whats a great power pod (for intermediate piolets ) that is compatible with all of the swapables! It should go fast but not as fast as Josh Bixlers wing in the speed contest.
It will be the same prop, in the same direction, writing forwards. Just the motor facing backwards. You just change two wires to change motor direction to get it correct (you prob know that) Whether its pusher or puller it will be same power needed, see the verse wing they built, making it pusher or pull(tractor)
Hey shadowstorm. May I suggest you look locally for one of your local flying clubs. Turn up there by any means, and if you have the interest, members will certainly help you out getting started - it is that kind of hobby. FT is great for once you are up and running.
RipSlinger has contra rotating props ... this makes the low profile tail work just fine, as P factor is eliminated. Get a contra motor and you will be very happy with the change!
hi i just saw a bf-109 build on the net ( romanian kid built it ) and since i was realy young like 7 8 i builded planes not rc but gliders and after i seen you guys i think i got to have one of these planes cause i enjoy watching u have fun .. now the winter is coming so i got free hands :D
I need to ask please.... What do you call the foam board that you use?... Im in South Africa amd i would like to buy myself some sheets but dont know what to ask for exactly?? Some help?

exactly, no one knows that. Didn't it crash at reno?
+CC Wagner yeah it did crash at the 1988 reno air race
i absolutely love this plane! I got it for Christmas and it fly's perfectly. Even after landing it accidentally in the water, with no modifications necessary the plane still flew perfectly.
What’s your flight time?
This episode is so good! Brings back a lot of memories coming back to this video after a few years
Keep up the great job, guys! Just built the ft flyer with my 7 yr old son. He loves to watch your videos as much as i do (especially when you talk about flight character-fish-sticks). You guys are doing the hobby proud!

PLEASE PLEASE do a build video of the orange plane it looks great.
I love what you guys do and what you're about. I've been watching and building for around a year now. I even got into wood but the foam planes are so much fun to build and fly, I don't think I'll ever stop making new ones. Thanks so much for the great channel and inspiration.

Excellent design and fabrication! Excellent flying! Excellent camera work! You Guys ROCK!
Can't wait for the kit or at least the build video. You guys really know how to inspire the modeler in me. Keep up the awesome work!
The yellow one sounds so awesome... I think it's my new favorite
Your air to air shots are incredible. Great stuff.
Awesome episode. The great weather, beautiful location, and definitely that synchronization!
easily my favorite video of yours so far. these are awesome planes!
Awesome. I did the maiden flight of my Baby Blender today and loved it, but these two planes are breathtaking.
Once again you've made a video that's pretty much art as much as it is informative and a joy to watch ;-) Thank you all very much.
I am relatively new to this hobby but from what iv seen and used down at the local flying club I have to say that has got to be one of the best flyer's iv seen and like you said its on rails, great work guys keep up the good work
Hey Rob, we just released a Beginners Series. The first video is about selecting a plane, check it out!
Another great show. Like the wing design on this plane, can't wait to build it

Another great plane and video guys. Can't wait to see the build instructions.
Love the planes and can't believe the flight between the silos. Good planes and big.....
i love the laughter in this episode, puts a smile on my face
James Macius it puts a smile on my face too
A battle between this and a spitfire would be awesooome!!! I really love the racer!!
An absolutely awesome build!!! Dave nailed it!!!
Beautiful farm and location ! Also awesome flying. As you often says: You did a great job !
This video is so iconic for Flite Test. I love it.
The best flying Ive seen for a long while
Its awesome that you can take air-to-air pictures so well now. It is very enjoyable an unusual to see.
You guys are awesome! Here in Brazil we love your videos! Congratulations.
The footage from the tricopter chase-cam is beautiful! Keep up the good work!
judging from what i saw in commercials for "Planes," Ripslinger was a centerline-thrust twin, with two counter-rotating props at the front. Counter rotating props would solve the problem you were having on takeoff with torque roll
These high speed low passes are some of the best ever..nice video guys!
Who flies aerial footage when David is hosting?
This was one of the most enjoyable vids you guys have put up yet! GREAT planes guys! If no speed built kit, then how about the plan?
Characterfishsticks XD
How do you guys do such nice paint Jobs?!?! The orange one was beautifully designed.
So beautiful to see such two planes fly together.

By power plant do you mean the power pod/ pack you can search online they sell them on some websites but they aren't available yet in their stores.
Lyon
nice guys! great replica of both planes, and perfect camera skills there
Excellent job guys. I would totally buy that kit. Rip slinger was definitely my favorite one, reminds me of a pylon racer with attitude. Keep up the good work guys you are quite famous around these parts
I could watch this all day.
Awesome design! And great paint job, Chad!
I Was going to buy the planes but man!! the shipping to Canada was the same as the cost of the planes using USPS. Superb episode guys, everything was just great, the content, subject, camera work, editing, music, etc. Just everything was quality.
Awesome build guys ! If I had time I would love to get into RC stuff but they would need to be waterproof here in Scotland lol
They have waterproof foam board for sale in quick build kits
Would love to see a speed build kit. Great Job as always guys!!!!
Awesome build. I can't wait for the plans. I would love to have the yellow version. Maybe the cartoon version once I have grand kids.
I'm currently building this plane. Love it very old building style using poster board instead of foam for canapy but I'm going to use foam and roll it
I agree that you are a great at what you do and makes me wish i had the time left in this old world that you do i would follow in your footsteps in bringing joy to so many. good luck and god bless.
ps i bought the kits and love them thanks so much

Boss! I really like it. How did you get it to curve so nicely around the fuselage? Please let me know, thanks.
MAN!!! Would be awesome if these could be mass produced!! I'd totally buy them all!!
Dude im so sad I just Ordered one of these from an online site and got it in today but one of my pieces looks like it was dropped. So bummed nothing on yall but super excited to get a good one in and see how she flies

Very nice. Will there be prints or modification details available soon for this? I would like to build one.
You guys are really awesome pilots. I've only been doing RC for half a year so I do not have that kind of skills yet;). What I want to say is that you give amazing inspiration and motivation for many newbies with your videos. Keep it up: D
That looks amazing! Fantastic paint job to top off a fantastic design! Great work guys, excited to see the protagonist on Wednesday :)
Great Job!! Do you know which are the real models of the planes that appear in the film?
i got a speed build kit, with everything they recommended, and made it like the other build video says and every single time i try to fly it takes a very sharp turn to the left ( I thought because of P factor) and nose dives into the ground... any thoughts?
Great video can not wait for the build video they look amazing I really really want to fly one now
Great job to all involved with the video! The air to air is awesome and you guys are doing it the best! Makes me want to go fly!!
A set of plans of the modifications and complete change to the tail of the spitfire would be AWESOME! ...it'll pen never happen though. :(
I want one. painted and all please.
This is just wayyy too cool as i have 3 little dudes and they would flip out to see him fly!
Great video as always. keep it up guys!
Love watching you guys have fun
I like that you use the Aurora 9 Tx, but why have you not done a review on the 9 or 9x? Are you using Hitec Rx??? Thank you.
One of your best videos. The show is so high quality.
How do you guys keep from breaking the propeller every time you land? I don't see you guys using prop adapter (with rubber band) in any of your videos. If you just used fixed prop adapters then doesn't the prop brake everytime you land on ground?
Just awesome. This will be my next build. Thanks guys.
You guys should make a funclub speed build that would be great and also a cargo plain with 4 motors as a speed build also
Ordered the speed build kit i cant wait! Ill get the vid to u guys asap!!
The drive in movie theaters wasnt in Newville pa by chance cause it looks just like it and I was there this past weekend and im a huge fan!
My son is going to love this. Speed build kit please!
Thanks for sharing the fun :)
The dark clouds make the images very enjoyable !
Hey Chad! Whats a great power pod (for intermediate piolets ) that is compatible with all of the swapables! It should go fast but not as fast as Josh Bixlers wing in the speed contest.

Whether its pusher or puller it will be same power needed, see the verse wing they built, making it pusher or pull(tractor)
An Ft Slinger Kit would be amazing!
But more like the racer that josh used.
You guys are awesome great job as usual :D
Please make this into a speed build kit! I will defiantly buy it as soon as it is available!
Hey shadowstorm. May I suggest you look locally for one of your local flying clubs. Turn up there by any means, and if you have the interest, members will certainly help you out getting started - it is that kind of hobby. FT is great for once you are up and running.
This is a top 5 video and I like how you fellas can help the poor guy into flying!!
Awesome planes. Great job guys !
Do you guys ever play chicken with your planes?
i play fishsticks with my planes
Production time!!... Film has just hit the UK we WANT THEM!!!
well one thing I learn from watching these vids is David builds awesome planes.
Beautiful, and in the interests of reusing... Would a Lipo from a Apprentice do this model any justice? 3S/3200
Who painted Ripslinger and how much would it cost? It's Great!
RipSlinger has contra rotating props ... this makes the low profile tail work just fine, as P factor is eliminated. Get a contra motor and you will be very happy with the change!

Nice caracterfishsticks on that plane!
