I am old now , but I worked as a nurse my entire career….all different shifts, overtime, different types of nursing…on my feet all day and stressed. My one regret is not forgetting about the cleaning and organizing…just spend your free time with your husband and kids as your priority. You CANNOT do it all. Do the necessities…like laundry and food. Every couple of weeks, clean the house thoroughly…get the whole family involved. So many things I could say. I wish I had spent all my free time reading to my son and playing…and not worrying about dust! best of luck …
After 16 years of part time and at home work, I am going back to full time (teaching) work this year now that my baby is starting kindergarten. I am so nervous!
I completely understand! I am nervous too. It's a big change! It's been a long time since I've had a job like this. Best of luck to you! I am just taking it one day at a time and I've found that to be very helpful with my nerves.
Congratulations Rachel. Another chapter of life is about to begin. I'm in Idaho, too, and work as a lunch lady at my grandson's school. The part time hours are perfect and it makes the summers that much sweeter. You'll find your groove and remember that nothing is perfect. You'll have your days I'm sure. Just go with the flow and and remember whose you are. Praying for your new start and for your family's adjusting to the new routine. All your videos are welcome ones. Thrifting are my favorites but that, too, is a little seasonal here. It'll just be something to really look forward to now.

I have just retired from my 20 year career as a certified high school librarian. It amazes me what children and adults alike thought my job entailed :They thought I either sat at the circulation desk and checked books in and out, or I sat in my office and idled the day away! If you are doing your job "right" you are constantly busy - checking books in an out, acting as reader advisor to students on their book choices, cleaning,repairing and weeding books, reading multiple reviews to select materials that support curriculum needs, creating curated, vetted lists of online resources, reaching out to teachers to find out how you could help support general curriculum needs, finding online sources for information to support individual teachers' classroom needs, keeping up to date on what's new in librarianship, etc. The list goes on, especially for an elementary library, who usually has classes come in and you have to have a program set for that. I tried very hard to resist taking work home, but sometimes I had to. Being a school librarian or school library media specialist can be a demanding job, but you get to know ALL the children in the school in a different way than a classroom teacher and that is one of the perks of the job, I think. I think you will love your new job! (I was also a university archivist for 5 years and a kindergarten teacher for 16 years!) Good luck and I look forward to hearing your updates!

Assign chores and tasks, to each family member based on ability. Best wishes and remember to take care of YOU! Self care Is Not selfish.
@@SweetAndSimpleHome I agree with the Family Meeting. We had these regularly with our 5 children were home. Anyone could call one if needed if they wanted. Everyone got a voice and Mom & Dad always had veto power. However it made the world of difference that the children felt they were heard and understood why they couldn't do/have always what they wanted.
Congrats! I work fulltime with kids. What keep things less stressful for us is planning and time managment. But I am sure we all realize that! I use a planner for kids sports/ activites, kids daily chore list and meal plan. By the end of a week, I usually need some relaxation time.
I would love any video you post. I know due to privacy issues it's not possible but could you imagine a series of what it's like to work in a library? I've always loved a library and the Bookmobile was heaven on wheels. The tip I have is when I worked full-time and had kids in school I would do certain cleaning chores on certain days. Like a schedule. That way I didn't spend my whole Saturday cleaning. My Niece and her family take one night a week and clean their house. It frees up their weekend.
I think that privacy would be an issue on sharing the library, but I hope I can make book related content soon. :) I do love that tip to have one night a week to clean the house-- I will have to think more on that idea! Thank you!
Hi Rachel! So EXCITED for your new job! I also started a new job at TJMAX! I had to leave my old one because of health issues caused by mold in the building. I EXCITED about my new job but a little stressed to because of life issues going on. Please keep me in your prayers! And I'll be praying for your new transition.❤️🙏🏿

I would love to see videos on how you prep for back to school. I think this school year will be the 6th year I have taught part time so I can homeschool my son. So finding the balance between work and home has been hard. I have learned that it’s ok to leave some work at work unfinished. I typically go above and beyond at work and it was impacting my time at home with my son. I also leave some chores at home undone to spend time with family. Hope you have a wonderful school year.

I had to remove a lot of older content due to some issues I was having with comments. I have to be able to process all the feedback without losing heart, so I pulled videos that were regularly troubling in the comment section. Thank you for understanding!

Congratulations, Rachel! You will love the job! I am a retired school library media specialist. I too started my career with my Elementary Ed degree, but got my MLS over the next 4 years. I was at the elem level, junior high and high school level. Enjoy every minute of it! Every day is a new adventure! It’s always so interesting because you are always learning something new each day!

CONGRATULATIONS Rachel on your new job. You can do this, being organized and having everyone's clothing out and ready the night before makes a big difference. If you do lunches ask for help from your older ones and husband. Have them prepare their lunches and you prepare yours and Clive or Husband prepare his & Clives Molly could make her lunch & yours. Have light but feeling breakfasts. Some Mom's make freezer sandwiches or burritos. Boiled eggs and toast or bagels, english mcmuffins are great. Cheese or peanut butter are great filler foods. I wish you luck and remember to keep a positive attitude.
Thank you for all the great advice! And yes-- everyone in my house makes their own lunch the night before-- Clive included. He made his own last year too on his preschool days. :) We leave by 6:15-6:20 am, which I'm not sure I mentioned so everything we can do the night before really helps!

I’m in the same boat right now with my youngest going to preschool, two oldest in 4th and 3rd and I’m going back to work part time. Rachel, I’m so happy and excited for you!! What a sweet difference you will make in the lives of all your students! As an avid reader I so relate to your love of books and my heart just burst with joy for you when you said you would be working in the library. I was overcome with nostalgia listening to you talk about back to school prep! My youngest is a second year senior (my children chose to enroll in middle college as freshman-a five year program that results in an associates degree and a hs diploma- and even with the extra year, I’m so aware of the transition my family will be moving through. Back to school time always fills me with ambition to organize my home and meal plan, and I even look forward to the more regimented routine after the lazy days of summer, so I am here for any videos you share on that topic! Best wishes as you enjoy these last few weeks of summer and begin your preparations for this exciting time for you and your family! And one more thing… I just this very day tried to clean one of my husband’s most treasured books - about care and training of race horses so it goes back and forth to the barn and his hands aren’t always super clean when he pages through it. I was happily surprised how well it turned out and I was so satisfied watching it come back to life! Anyway, again, best wishes!!!

Oh Rachel, a dream job! So happy for you! Freezer casseroles help. Packing as much of the lunches the nite before saves morning time when catastrophes usually happen, or unplanned upsets. Laundry-- I throw towels in dryer at bedtime and leave them sit while I sleep. Don't have to worry about wrinkles. Keep duplicates of items you may forget to grab in your car, like travel cup for tea, tissues, snacks that can survive a hot car. Hope my ideas give you thought.💕😄

I'm so happy for you Rachel! What a perfect job for the season you are in! We are a homeschool family and are entering year 14! Only one guy left at home, and he is going in to 7th grade. We are getting prepared, slowly but surely.:)
I'd love to see how you prep for back to school. From one working mom to another my tips to you would be load your car with anything you can for the next day the night before, be satisfied with less variety to ease things, batch cook, and do a little housework everyday rather than doing so as a marathon on weekends.
Oh my goodness I am happy for you with beginning a part time job that you will definitely love and enjoy. I love books myself. I just want to say we are here and will be so don't be or feel like pressured with us. Whenever you have time to make a video it's fine with us. We totally understand. Best wishes for your new endeavor! I am sure you will do a great job. My best advice to you is to remember a job is what you do, but a wife and mom is who you are. Just keep your priorities on who you are.
Congratulations on your new job. I work full time and what I to do is concentrate on one room and chore (laundry, grocery shopping) per day during the week so that by the weekend I'm free to relax. I try doing the most strenuous or time consuming tasks at the beginning of the week so that the workload gets easier the closer to Friday it gets. The other thing I do is only only schedule one day or half a day of the weekend leaving time to rest and relax. I'll still look forward to seeing your videos whenever you're able to get them up.
If any one can do this , you can!! I would love to see videos of your journey. You are a planner already . It has been a long time since my kids were in school but one thing that stands out is Always know what supper will be. If that was planned I always felt more relaxed. Now you have crackpots, hot air fryers, instant pots. You win! 😊💃

Congratulations, Rachel! You will love the job! I am a retired school library media specialist. I too started my career with my Elementary Ed degree, but got my MLS over the next 4 years. I was at the elem level, junior high and high school level. Enjoy every minute of it! Every day is a new adventure! It’s always so interesting because you are always learning something new each day!
How neat! Our school serves all levels too, so I have a lot I am learning! I'm looking forward to when the classes visit!
I was at just one school that had elem and jr high. The others were single schools. 2 states, 6 schools, and almost 43 years. I still miss the kids!

CONGRATULATIONS Rachel on your new job. You can do this, being organized and having everyone's clothing out and ready the night before makes a big difference. If you do lunches ask for help from your older ones and husband. Have them prepare their lunches and you prepare yours and Clive or Husband prepare his & Clives Molly could make her lunch & yours. Have light but feeling breakfasts. Some Mom's make freezer sandwiches or burritos. Boiled eggs and toast or bagels, english mcmuffins are great. Cheese or peanut butter are great filler foods. I wish you luck and remember to keep a positive attitude.
Thank you for all the great advice! And yes-- everyone in my house makes their own lunch the night before-- Clive included. He made his own last year too on his preschool days. :) We leave by 6:15-6:20 am, which I'm not sure I mentioned so everything we can do the night before really helps!

Rachel, I’m so happy and excited for you!! What a sweet difference you will make in the lives of all your students! As an avid reader I so relate to your love of books and my heart just burst with joy for you when you said you would be working in the library. I was overcome with nostalgia listening to you talk about back to school prep! My youngest is a second year senior (my children chose to enroll in middle college as freshman-a five year program that results in an associates degree and a hs diploma- and even with the extra year, I’m so aware of the transition my family will be moving through. Back to school time always fills me with ambition to organize my home and meal plan, and I even look forward to the more regimented routine after the lazy days of summer, so I am here for any videos you share on that topic! Best wishes as you enjoy these last few weeks of summer and begin your preparations for this exciting time for you and your family! And one more thing… I just this very day tried to clean one of my husband’s most treasured books - about care and training of race horses so it goes back and forth to the barn and his hands aren’t always super clean when he pages through it. I was happily surprised how well it turned out and I was so satisfied watching it come back to life! Anyway, again, best wishes!!!

Freezer casseroles help. Packing as much of the lunches the nite before saves morning time when catastrophes usually happen, or unplanned upsets.
Laundry-- I throw towels in dryer at bedtime and leave them sit while I sleep. Don't have to worry about wrinkles.
Keep duplicates of items you may forget to grab in your car, like travel cup for tea, tissues, snacks that can survive a hot car.
Hope my ideas give you thought.💕😄

I'd love to see how you prep for back to school. From one working mom to another my tips to you would be load your car with anything you can for the next day the night before, be satisfied with less variety to ease things, batch cook, and do a little housework everyday rather than doing so as a marathon on weekends.
Oh my goodness I am happy for you with beginning a part time job that you will definitely love and enjoy. I love books myself. I just want to say we are here and will be so don't be or feel like pressured with us. Whenever you have time to make a video it's fine with us. We totally understand. I wish you Luck and I know you will do great. About prep back to school videos YES bring them on. I love all your videos. Best wishes for your new endeavor! I am sure you will do a great job. My best advice to you is to remember a job is what you do, but a wife and mom is who you are. Just keep your priorities on who you are.
Congratulations on your new job. I work full time and what I to do is concentrate on one room and chore (laundry, grocery shopping) per day during the week so that by the weekend I'm free to relax. I try doing the most strenuous or time consuming tasks at the beginning of the week so that the workload gets easier the closer to Friday it gets. The other thing I do is only only schedule one day or half a day of the weekend leaving time to rest and relax. I'll still look forward to seeing your videos whenever you're able to get them up.

Congratulations! Working in a library is my dream job. I didn’t finish a degree but I hope to be able to go back to school when my kids are all 3 in school in 3-4 years. :)
