Will there be a new grinding system? (There are mods like Def's Long Term Survival which add grind books that require tools and materials in return for flat XP, which could be a reasonable alternative, for example)
Something I want to say as a hunter. I haven't seen a feature that allows you to bait a area with corn from the grocery store/plant a food crop which is a massively missed oppertunity if it never gets added. Also I'm pretty sure the devs said the deer will be far away from civilization, but the stands I currently hunt are a 3 minute walk away from my bed in a 3000+ population housing developement, the deer don't need to be miles into the woods. Sometimes they even come into the neighborhood at night to munch on peoples gardens
Maybe all the deer closer to the cities were already killed by the zombies since city=more zombies. The deer fled for their lives into the dense forests where hordes of zeds couldn't catch and nom the deer. =D I agree that you shouldn't have to go too far out to hunt for a game though.
Yea I live in the US State with the highest population density in the country, and I have deer less than a mile away, sometimes even on my street. I love the wildlife edition and I would also love to see how much like they'll bring to the game, so I hope they re-think that decision

Reasons why hunters actually love animals: 1) they don’t feel like they’re above them and don’t escape the cycle of life and death They hunt to feed themselves, knowing other organisms will “eat” them when they’ll die 2) they show respect by actually studying them and hunting them in their habitats. They don’t need huge producers and distributors to mutate entire animal races to be blobs of fat and muscles who exist to end up on a shelf with no chance to escape this existential slavery 3) they don’t love them out of a Disney movie caricature They love them to the point of actually knowing what they eat, where they eat it, when they breed, what temperatures they prefer, what their sh** looks like. It’s a thousand times more genuine than saying “i know nothing about animals but I saw Bambi once and I don’t want him to die”

My only worry about animals is renewability. Like I can’t imagine you’d find wild cows respawning so exhausting the supply of cattle wouldn’t be that hard
They could add some failsafe to prevent farm animals to be shot. Maybe in form of animals slaughtering only available through melee action (right click, not melee hits)
the specific angles issue is probably due to engine limitations (3D models on 2D world), like in Sims 1 you could only rotate the camera 90 degree angles because world was 2D sprites that were just drawn in 4 different angles.

I heard there's a programmer in China who developed that ability to sit in chairs in video games. Maybe they could hire that guy for how many years it would take to implement this state of the art technology.
With the new depth-map system used on in-game sprites, such a feature probably isn't too far off. I can't wait for build42, I will finally be able to play my dream scenario: A Louisville survivor escapes the big city and go live somewhere close to the river, far away from any cities, surviving fully in the wild.
1. Performance 2. Lighting 3. Basement/Skyscrapers 4. Gun Changes 5. Hunting And the Meh's: Pottery, crafting, blacksmithing. (Im more interested in exploring the world and looting it, not crafting teacups and samurai swords 50 years later)
ngl hunting will make getting food & maintaining a good weight SO easy if deer give a realistic amount of venison. like, a deer should probably last one person at least 2 months irl.
1. Animals-until zombies start murdering them. 2. Performance 3. All the crafting- cause I just can't with Hydrocraft rabbit holes anymore. 4. Storytelling- that will hopefully come with some sort of endgame/quests-something to do after you have a fortified base. 5. Farming Overhaul A lot of the "new" stuff just doesn't feel very new when mods have already added those things to the game. Weapons, bags, clothes, animations, jobs/traits, map expansions, music, farming, moodles, etc....all already modded into the game and my guess is that the mods will be better than whatever devs integrate into the game. So all the time and effort they are putting into developing these will not pay off since people already have access to these things and have already modded them to their liking. The biggest problem is that they are trying to perfect the game in EA but keep moving the goalpost of where 'perfect' is. And at this point, the finished product will NEVER live up to the "hype" of waiting years no matter how good it is or how much stuff they add. Duke Nukem Forever currently holds the title for game longest in development (15 years) and when it was released everyone was like "15 years for this? Big effing Whoop. Wasn't worth it." I fear the same thing will happen to PZ. They'll finally release it and their fan base will give it about a week of "Finally done, thank gods" posts before the "Big Effing Whoop" starts.
One thing I'll say about pew-pews is that if I can't bop a zombie in the dome when it's 1m or less away from my barrel, the system sucks. Also, moving things down to have one line per tier is goofy. Just have more than a top 5 in your favorites tier. (sensored (that word spelled wrong, too) on purpose to avoid auto-yeet filter)
I absolutely HATE the idea of breakeable fences! therefore they go up in my top 5. I like emersion, and the indestructible fences kinda... breaks the elusion.
I spoke to a pjz dev called RJ and he told me there was this whole genetic system for interspecies cross breeding like different breeds of cows and theres gonna be a genetics system
So, How do zombies interact with animals? Do the zombies attack them? Do the animals fight back? Do they run from zombies? Will the zombies chase them? Do animals make noise, and if so does it attract zombies? Will having a herd of Guard Cows and a bunch of Watch Deer be the new meta? How about Assault Chickens? Automatic animal powered kill boxes? 1. Animals 2. Hunting 3. Blacksmithing (Better Spears, Unlimited Long Blades, Better Axes, Craftable Sledgehammers. Crowbars?) 4. Farming, depending on how its done. They could easily ruin it as a reliable food source. 5. Toss up between skyscrapers and basements. Also, can I get cows up to the roof of a skyscraper? How about raising chickens in the basement? I`m worried about the Fishing changes. That`s usually a major source of food on most of my play throughs. This looks like it will take a lot of attention to play the mini game. Bows and crossbows would be at the top of the list if we knew more about them. Occupations, Skills and Traits. Well, they do need to be rebalanced, and some just need to be outright fixed. The Axeman trait from the Lumberjack doesn't seem to add the full 25% to swing speed, the Aiming and Reloading skills are soft capped at level 5, the visual portion of Sneaking doesn't seem to have any effect at all, etc... Some occupations are basically worthless, and some are overpowered. Yes these all need to be fixed.
Will be very interesting to see the interaction between zombies and animals.. Fishing definitely will be more hands on now, maybe you'll want to mix in some trapping + hunting!
as long as sandbox settings can be tinkered with, every update is great as you can remove what you dont like. i just have a problem with the idea of blacksmithed weapons being better than loot you find. if you look at games like minecraft, after diamonds became aquireable by villagers, minecraft lost a good reason for mining. while i enjoy the villager system, the update about how only certain villagers could give you certain enchantment books is great because that means you have to explore again. but i dislike it for the reason of how simple it is to just have a vanilla villager who could do it all. every update will be a give or take, it would be great if the scale was something along the lines of: simple wooden tools that break easily < simple hammers or knifes you find < blacksmithed tools < rare loot like katanas or large machine guns. but if the sandbox menu will still be able to tinker with these, i am more than happy.
since they added animal husbandry, i think they should make it so you can catch live small animals and put them in fish tanks or cages so you can keep them as pets like the forageable bugs and frogs, catchable fish and live versions of the dead small birds and mice and rats you can catch in traps. along with houseplants, that'd be a pretty fun incentive to survive because there are critters that depend on you for their own survival also, i'd personally put the farming at the top with animals, and pottery in a higher spot if they let us make potted plants. i'm also really excited to see if the crafted furniture will be more viable, cause the stuff like the crafted beds suck ass and you should be a better crafter at tailoring and carpentry 10 than making a hobo mattress on a shitty plank futon frame
yeah that would be awesome, I have so many fish tanks IRL so I'd defo have a bunch in game lmfao, they are adding houseplants / plants need watering to stay alive. and yeah id love some great craft able furniture!!

Step 1: choose doctor, step 2: name yourself doctor sex, step 3: fiddle around with the character creation, step 4: find a frying pan.
I mean technically we already have the engineer
Soy Tf2!!!

The Gravel Wars have spread to the realms of Rivals of Aether, Lethal Company, Valorant, and countless others. There’s no telling if it’ll ever truly end when fought on so many fronts
Basements have a lot of potential, ESPECIALLY if you’re able to expand upon them by digging tunnels
You clearly like the game too much to do a fair rating 🤣 good video!
I can't wait for build42, I will finally be able to play my dream scenario: A Louisville survivor escapes the big city and go live somewhere close to the river, far away from any cities, surviving fully in the wild.
yeah that'll be awesome!!!
2:13 That was Tommy Vercetti for sure
I am watching every single zomboid video i can find. B42 hype is KILLING ME
same I can't wait!!! gonna be awesome
in all honesty bows and crossbows will be a game changer especially if you like stealth.
For realll👌🏽
I mean with the amount of features coming, it's insane! No wonder it's taking a while lol, hype hype
1. Performance
2. Lighting
3. Basement/Skyscrapers
4. Gun Changes
5. Hunting
And the Meh's: Pottery, crafting, blacksmithing.
2. Performance
3. All the crafting- cause I just can't with Hydrocraft rabbit holes anymore.
4. Storytelling- that will hopefully come with some sort of endgame/quests-something to do after you have a fortified base.
5. Farming Overhaul
A lot of the "new" stuff just doesn't feel very new when mods have already added those things to the game.
Wasn't worth it."
I fear the same thing will happen to PZ.
Well put together. Looking forward to it.
thanks :) me too!
@@Awpenheimer when is it realised ? Do you know ?
I have not seen it for a while. Sometime this year ain't it ?
@@grobbs3527 they have not gave a date yet, they did say this year but we’re going to have to wait and see :/
@@Awpenheimer ok thanks for the update. Take care friend.
cant wait. this is gonna be so good!
That is what vanilla needed for a long time ago
Just started the video and already hitting like, Zomboid is life
@@lukebargodao haha, thanks!!
I wonder if theyre gonna make animals vicious, like wild dogs and rats eating your food until there is none
Gosh i love how much they put into just one update
This will be a different game at this point almost like how Minecraft changed when we got horses
@@hydro3672 yeah it is very different for sure
Worth he addition of animals there is exactly one question that matters...
When Dog?
I absolutely HATE the idea of breakeable fences! therefore they go up in my top 5. I like emersion, and the indestructible fences kinda... breaks the elusion.
They remind me of that TWD Prison episode, epic
You don't think 200+ people pushing could knock down a chain link fence?
pray for fluffies hair to get updated
Inventory management is going to be hell with this update Ngl 😭
I spoke to a pjz dev called RJ and he told me there was this whole genetic system for interspecies cross breeding like different breeds of cows and theres gonna be a genetics system
That sounds crazy! Can’t wait to mess around with that
Damn it's a zombie game bro devs be cooking fr fr
@@_RG99_Zomboid is more a survival game with zombies than it is a zombie game, to be honest.
@@_RG99_after this update you could literally just turn zombies off, play a forest map and you would play the best survival game ever
1. Animals
2. Hunting
3. Blacksmithing (Better Spears, Unlimited Long Blades, Better Axes, Craftable Sledgehammers. Crowbars?)
Fishing definitely will be more hands on now, maybe you'll want to mix in some trapping + hunting!
it's been confirmed zombies aren't going to attack animals, zombies being present would raise the animals' stress level though
the noises animals make will attract zombies, but the zombies won't interact
as long as sandbox settings can be tinkered with, every update is great as you can remove what you dont like.
i just have a problem with the idea of blacksmithed weapons being better than loot you find. if you look at games like minecraft, after diamonds became aquireable by villagers, minecraft lost a good reason for mining. while i enjoy the villager system, the update about how only certain villagers could give you certain enchantment books is great because that means you have to explore again. but i dislike it for the reason of how simple it is to just have a vanilla villager who could do it all.
every update will be a give or take, it would be great if the scale was something along the lines of:
simple wooden tools that break easily < simple hammers or knifes you find < blacksmithed tools < rare loot like katanas or large machine guns.
but if the sandbox menu will still be able to tinker with these, i am more than happy.
I just came from a visit from the towns and cities of project zomboid and I’ve gotta say West Point off the Ohio is pretty beautiful
@@A_Random_Gamer420 that’s awesome! Would love to see them one day

2:14
AAAAAAHHHHH!!!
*Plops like a pancake*
*gets up and brushes self off*
*clears throat*
...Anyways
*AAAAAAAAAAH!!!*
since they added animal husbandry, i think they should make it so you can catch live small animals and put them in fish tanks or cages so you can keep them as pets like the forageable bugs and frogs, catchable fish and live versions of the dead small birds and mice and rats you can catch in traps. along with houseplants, that'd be a pretty fun incentive to survive because there are critters that depend on you for their own survival
also, i'd personally put the farming at the top with animals, and pottery in a higher spot if they let us make potted plants. i'm also really excited to see if the crafted furniture will be more viable, cause the stuff like the crafted beds suck ass and you should be a better crafter at tailoring and carpentry 10 than making a hobo mattress on a shitty plank futon frame
yeah that would be awesome, I have so many fish tanks IRL so I'd defo have a bunch in game lmfao, they are adding houseplants / plants need watering to stay alive. and yeah id love some great craft able furniture!!
@@Awpenheimer just thought about pet stores in zomboid and how fucked it would be to see them work like how mall plantings and houseplants are gonna wither over time according to the devs
You can keep live frogs in build 41
@@pyroparagon8945 i meant like feed and care for them and not keep them as baubles but i like build 41 frogs too
Yeah NGL just waiting for them to re-add pushable furniture and NPCs
I'm sure my grandchildren will enjoy those features
Breakable fences is huge to me
One thing I wish they’d do is not focus so much on the woods survival stuff when the game is about zombie survival, some of us don’t want to run off to the woods and I get we still don’t have to, but where’s all our new stuff? Seems like the forest frolickers get all the attention 🙃
Maybe we'll get better stuff than just forest expansions in the next build, just gotta wait until 2027.
@@Hayzoid more like 2037
They said it will release this year so we must be very close.
I would personally have put breakable fences to Nice to have/Quite good, but mostly I agree with the tier
The cow looks so dumb and cute in that picture lmaoo
Great video man
thanks bruh! :)
Foraging biomes is underrated because it's not understand that will fix map construction-fishing-farming-spawn, it's much deep than foraging and it's true to the procedural generation. It's huge
Could just drop the lighting and I'd be just as hyped
I can finally sort thru my 300 active mods LETS GOOOOOOOOO
Insanely rare loot is gonna be fun af with some of these features, good video tho
Only 43 thousand years until release.
PZ is starting to look more like Stardew Valley.
yeah i didnt buy it just to play a downgraded stardew valley
@@RepostGuy101so then don’t farm or do anything they added, they didn’t change the base game much
@@RepostGuy101what an L take....these things add more flavor to the game, and guess what - you don't have to do everything. That's the beauty of it, different players can do different things and have fun

@@ghriszlybare2547 yeah even here, storage is the typical use of a shed. But I built like a pretty big shed/workshop and turned it into an office space of sorts where I spend all my time, recording videos and such haha

I assume we can make yoghurt, cheese and butter from milk. Maybe ice cream too.
3:45 also not mentioned with improved lighting you can see trees and small blockages dont fill your screen with straight line black bars from blockage
love that! big improvement
@Awpenheimer it's one of my biggest annoyances. I get I can't see but since it's a top down game it makes it look so janky. Even if it just was once you seen something it stayed Grey like a memory thing would have been better
We still gotta wait months for the b42 mp build after release 😢
Great video! My only 'complaint' is that there are some awkward pauses between talking from time to time, breaking the flow from time to time. But this is really a minor concern
