Instead of using quick check I use slow panel wipe in a hand pump it takes a couple of minutes to vap off but gives it a sheen long enough to spot defects, and cleans the panel as well.

Thanks for the this video Pharraway I purchased two bottles of the Quick Check on Ebay and today at my job a camera stand was in trash but I am keeping it to use it for when I make videos I had a small one that got from Amazon this one looks over 4 foot tall more stuff gets threw out where I clean at in June after school gets out. I don't have a paper masking stand to put the tape and plastic vehicle masking on yet though or a hood lift when taking a hood off but the stand will help better when I make videos again of me working on the car.

Progressing well now Pharraway, a lot of people who don't do painting have no idea about all the work that goes into a custom paint job like this so hats off to you Pharraway for taking the time to explain what you are doing at each step as this all adds to the time taken on the car, Looking forward to the next one 👏🙏👍 John UK.

Sometimes I just cant take the comment section on youtube. Anyone that thinks that you can spray a large flake and get a glassy finish in the clear without having to sand and re-clear is dreaming!
Also, I don't like that you say "I'm going to fix it" in the beginning. Its not "fixing" if its part of the process..
    The car is looking great!

Good stuff, ready for some candy now. I can see how that quick check can really improve the process. No airbrushed woman on the hood, maybe next time! Just joking, I have an airbrush, but couldn't put a good woman on the hood, unless it was a stencil.

I may be missing something. In a previous video you stated you would wait a week after applying four coats of clear over the flakes to apply more clear. How did you prepare for the next layer of clear? Ty

    Realmente apreciaria mucho tu ayuda!
    Saludos!

I'm currently sanding my 03 Duramax down I wanna paint it sunnoco blue and use 4-6 ounces of metal flakes and i use it as a work truck any pointers I used 40 grit to start then I'll hit it with the 80 and 120 and use the 220 to sand the paint to fix any runs but part of me wants to pay a paint shop for the paint aspect of it never done body work had a buddy id help wet sand or prep occasionally so learning as I go any insight would be greatly appreciated

    Hello my friend
Do you use rust converter ?
My car has lot of rust and I clean everything from rust and put rust converter and I cover it with 2k primer after 2days , and I want to paint it , all the under the car and rocker panel with the fenders and the engine bay ,
Now it's look new again not holes it's just surface rust .

Cutting the top of the metal flake when they are silver ai t that big of a deal I herd. But when you use colour metal flakes it’s a disaster. They will turn silver
    My question:
What would be a safe way to sand coloured metal flakes to be sure not to cut them?

    • @PHARRAWAY
      @PHARRAWAY  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

The best way is to apply more coats of clear to cover them completely

  • @johnvincent3544

I use the inter-coat clear for the flakes and applied 3 wet coats of high solids clear

Thank you , I've heard you say before but I didn't write it down but what gun are you using for clear and what size tip ? And I'm getting ready to do a flake job with .015 what do you recommend for tip size ? Thank you !!

    • @PHARRAWAY

@@billlewis7580 for the application of the flake I used a 2.0 tip and for the clear by it self I used a 1.3 tip
