I would advise against making the characters shout the names of spells. Hearing the same phrases being repeated over and over during gameplay will get annoying.
+Dr Shaym A better way of doing this is making it rare and random. For example, the character may shout the spell when it is used for the first time ever, like a kind of an epic introduction, but then make it so she says it like once in 20 times it's cast, record a bunch of different variants of the same thing (there's no need to yell all the time), and there you go. At least, this is how it's usually done in these games.
The way I think would make most sense is to simply assume that speaking certain words makes it easier to cast a spell, but experienced spellcasters can cast the spell silently. They may still speak when either teaching somepony the spell, or when trying to cast a particularly powerful version of the spell which requires more concentration and focus, and therefore the words that make the spell easier help with that. Also, just make it configurable in the game's options. Let the players decide if they want the magic to be silent, always on, random, or occasional.
+Inspector Javert I like that one! maybe make that they say every time the name of certain spells, ones that are really powerful, strange, or for whatever reason, you won't use them often. make it so that every time counts.
I think this looks amazing! The environment especially is just gorgeous! One thing I'd really suggest is putting subtitles though, because at certain points it's very hard to hear the dialogue.
I see so many amazing things here and so much potential with only a few problems to be ironed out. The biggest is audio. the reverb is all wrong on quite a bit of the sound effects and audio, especially the fharacters. I think I even hear the audio feed over capping a few times. I just recommend getting some deverb software/ plug-ins along with those of reverb, using them to take the room sounding reverb off the actors and the using the reverb to blend the characters into their surroundings. From there on, I know your working on the animations and other than that, it's amazing. A clear project to follow. And aside from a few visual notes, some just polishing, some just getting the hair to not have a seizure, the game seems pretty there from what I see. Can't wait to play it if I ever find the money to when it comes out.
Great game, amazing graphics, hope it’s still coming. Just one problem though: Astral “Hush, can you hear that?” Also Astral: *snow crunching intensifies*
looks cool, i know it's in alpha stage, but for the future i'd highly suggest taking a look at the audio, especially voices. I noticed the voices distort a bit when they start yelling for say an attack. Level that out, maybe turn down the mic input a bit. Anyways, keep up the good work.
I am amazed by this. I see some great potential. Just a few things, whoever is in charge of the sound, take care of the peaking, a little reverb here and there, and maybe a little EQing to cancel those unwanted frequencies. Sound/music is as important as graphics and gameplay, without correctly mastered and processed sounds and music, things can lose quality. Everything else looks good so far, I understand this is just an Alpha, but certain textures, animation can improve a little more too. Very excited for this though ^_^ Keep working hard!
Back in the day I thought this was the best graphics a brony project can even achieved, now looking for the new Demo, I can see a lot of effort for this lovely project ❤️
Whoa. WHOA. I'm so jacked for this. Yes. We need this. More hype for this than we had for fallout 4 in my mind :3 For the voice actresses, best to have them record in a closet with lots of clothes so as to absorb some of the reverb/reflections :3
I have several things I want to say about this.1) I love that this games setting is essentialy the "time of the windigos"2) I love your characters Astra and Krini (please forgive and correct me if I misheard or mispelled those names)3) I noticed moments that look like placement points for tutorials like the snowball fight for spellcasting and the aim and shoot controls, the rock for casting lightning, the fire conversation for noting how to cast it, and the cliff for a teleportation and companion levitation tutorial.4) Love the timberwolves5) I love your 4 words of power spellcasting system you've got. And some questions:1) Do you plan on taking this game further than just this prologue if you recieve additional support?2) What kind of specs will your demo require? (just am estimate is fine)3) Are you looking for volunteers for anything other than animation, such as writing, concept design, or anything of that nature?4) What kind of programs did you use to make this?5) Have you worked in game development in the past? Cause you are good.6) Who was doing the voicework?sorry if thats a lot of questions
this could be an AU where Astrum and Krinita are their original names before somehow they would take on the names of Celestia and Luna. It could be because of an incident where the pair of them had to abandon their old names for new ones, it could be that taking on a new name is a rite-of-passage for Alicorns to show that they are prepared for a new stage of their lives. The mere fact that Hasbro or Faust offered up zero Lore into Alicorn culture and how it interacts with the other Three Tribes outside of just Celestia and Luna is both intriguing to creators, and infuriating to viewers. The situation with the Alicorns is the opposite to that of the Changelings who are numerous and the established dialogue and motivations behind Chrysalis' attack on Canterlot was left open-ended for YEARS for debate whether the attack was either a deliberate invasion for conquest out of arrogance, or if it was a desperate gambit for their own survival as they were starving and on the brink of extinction. Alicorns in-general have always been confirmed throughout the show as being shown as female entirely, leaving very little up to interpretation in how Alicorn Culture even operates; and with the severe lack of context or answers behind Alicorns, it is the primary reason why whenever an Alicorn does show up out-of-the-blue most of us are peeved off at them since Hasbro has never clarified exactly where do Alicorns fit into the larger narrative.
I'm hesitant to support this on Patreon, since nowhere does it mention Hasbro has been contacted to make sure this project won't be CnD'd. The worst thing for anyone, especially the creator, is to just be about finished, then have the project cancelled by Cease and Desist. If this project is in the clear with Hasbro and affiliates, then I'll gladly support it though.
Oh my gosh, I know it sounds silly to say, but that this totally reminded me of a song I did forever ago called "Cold" (with Synthis and 4EverfreeBrony), and the story I wrote behind it :'D It might be because of that, that I am literally geeking out over this right now (HEAD-CANNONS ARE SATISFIED) But I think it mostly has to do with the fact that this looks INCREDIBLE
This looks really fantastic! The tutorial bits are integrated in the tutorial in clever ways; I really liked the snowball fight as introductory shooting practice. The voice work is also particularly good.
It's sad to see this already being bombarded with hate on Steam Greenlight. This is a game that has really good potential, and to an outsider... shouldn't appear to relate to MLP all that all.
"Golden VERONICA!" That absurd magical incantation is never going to get old /s Gameplay wise, it's alright. It's your average Over the Shoulder shooter, probably gonna have some magical puzzles, as far as gameplay goes this is the strongest the community's ever made. Which is why it just breaks my little heart that everything else is so ear-bleedingly awful! The sound design, the character models, the story, the dialogue, oh dear lord. Do this now: Hire a writer. Don't be like Silly Filly Studios and flat out refuse to work with writers. Hire a writer, get them to make sense of your story and fix your dialogue.
I registered on Patreon to support you in this project brimming with potencial! The callback graphics me much Skyrim, and wow what it's done for Alpha !!! Impatient to test this Alpha in January: D !! Johann Gross
This looks great! :) I can't wait to see more of Ambient: Prologue! I think what you said about having a deep and meaningful pony game is a wonderful vision. This will help pave the way for future pony games of the same caliber, undoubtedly. Additionally, wonderfully, your work here really oozes frontier, first-of-it's-kind-opportunity! Cheers, man, and best of luck! ♥
+Ivo Robuttnik They still can't do anything about it. Since these are OC's (i think. it doesnt look like celest and luna to me, but i could be wrong) and this has nothing to do with the hasbro story. Or anything such as that. They cannot call it for copyright. Unless there is strictly something in the game that points to hasbro owning it, then no, they can't.
Very interesting! The atmosphere is lovely. The voice actors are nice, but I feel like the lines should be recorded in a bit higher quality if that wasn't planned already! Astrum's spell-calling, especially. The character designs may need to be changed a bit to avoid a C&D, along with mentioning Starswirl. I can definitely see the influence of games like Until Dawn, very smart to develop a game in that same manner while that style is emerging! I would offer a few more suggestions, but the game is still in Alpha. So, good job with what you have so far!
Jim Sterling looked at this, glad he did, now I know about this project. Surprisingly enough, he was very respectful, no hatred towards the show, and just fair criticism. Cool guy. Now, first of all, the game looks really, really good - I mean the visual aspect, I like the fact that characters turn their heads to you while talking, it's nice. I am not going to critique the animations and the voice acting that much, it's alpha, I understand that pretty much everything is subject to a change, and I hope it'll change for the better. Voice actors need much better equipment and better skills for this, too: shouting is not that easy to do properly without sounding either hilarious or fake. Anyway, I am always in favor of cool fan projects, especially when they show this much promise, as imperfect as this game may look at the moment, I wish you all the best. Maybe in a couple of years, this will become the new best thing in the fandom... as long as Hasbro doesn't take action, that is.
Damn! Them graphics tho. Them spell effects tho! The scenery looks very well crafted and the gameplay is looking very fun. Looking forward to what this game can become. ;)
Things to aim for at the moment are facial animation, better quality for dubbing, fix the damn repetitive sound of snow when they walk. It needs more emotion.
Very much looking forward to this! Just played the beta, and I gotta say it is already better quality graphically and stability wise than a lot of things I've seen pass through steam's greenlight. Wish there was some way I could help out with the project, but although I've worked on other games, I'm not quite sure I'm fully qualified to work on a game of this quality.
for a game that's in alpha, this looks absolutely beautiful! If I had it, I'd pay good money to play this game. I would also work for free to help develop this game, but I can't provide anything other than beta testing. haha. keep up the brilliant work. I can't wait to see what comes of this game. will there be more than the prologue if things go well?
His patreon description, beware because it's cringy as fuck: I have a dream. A dream that someday there would be a game, on which bronies could point to and say: "This is much-much more than just a video game about ponies." I wish that someday bronies would come to the e3, gamescom or whatever and watch as someone comes to stage and say: "we made a game about ponies. And it is amazing.". I wish that someday bronies would tell an exiting, wonderful and tragic story about 2 sisters of the sun and moon. The story that will prompt people not only to laugh but also to think deeply about questions like "what is good and what is evil", "how is it fells to be immortal", "is there really any way to make whole world like our's a happier place?" and much much more. Yeah. I wish a lot, don't I? Am I just imaginative person? No. BECAUSE JUST WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM???
+doun toun with maklemore What else do you want? A planet full of murderer, war, violation, discrimination? Oh wait... we already have that and also much more. I'm so happy that I live with such people together... *facepalm* I think its fine to dream about a better world. The only important thing on earth right now is money. **edit:** Ah btw... I know that it was the original words in all from the description. :D Just wanted to point my opinion. :P
I'm in it, as long as the voice acting gets re-done with about 80% less clipping and you drop use of all copyrighted names. I know Starswirl makes so much sense for the story, but it really has to be different. Some simple dialogue-or even a chance to meet the character-should make it clear to the player: "oh, this great magician is a lot like starswirl. That's why he knows everything!"A nice thing, but not necessary, would be recording multiple versions of character sounds, like spells, and having it randomly cycle through those so it sounds less repetitive. Soft speaking in non-combat would be nice, too.good stuff: I absolutely love the terrain design! It's a very mysterious sort of landscape that's not overblown, and it's absolutely impressive to see everything look so frozen and sad...but then get caught by a ray of sunlight and shine magnificently!
Reading a lot of these criticisms, it almost seems as if bronies are expecting a fan piece to look, play, and sound as smooth as an official published product; that's just unreasonable. The companies known for delivering the highest quality games excelling in storytelling, graphics, and gameplay have enormous teams and resource pools. For sure, despite this being named the prologue, if this is how the game immediately starts off (which Luna hints heavily at being otherwise by mentioning 'the stallion'), there's a lot of work to be done with the writing. In that sense, the characters seem awfully chipper for being in such a dangerous environment. But we don't know if this is all we're going to see from the get-go, and I find it fair to assume more will be added once the project is finished. As for blasting the gameplay and graphics the way we have, no shit they're gonna be flawed; a video game meeting your guys' standards is SOLD for $60 at your local Gamestop and not offered for free.
The dialogue could use more work. If this is during the early days of the sisters than that means it's ancient history, so the things they say should sound according. Also, Unicorns don't need to cast their spells verbally.
My compliments! Has it been developed with something like UE4? Btw it's sad that in the fighting scene the audio is distorted. P.s. Timberwolves could sound way cooler if you thought about morphing wood sounds with wolves recording, for now they kinda sound like angry dogs tbh. but that's just my opinion I'm curious of what you'll guys do next!
This looks really cool, I like the idea of combining spells fusion style the make new spells on the fly, and the graphics look lovely for Alpha. Just try to keep your head down until release, lest the legal horde mark you for the hunt.
+SourceThunderLight No, they could be worse. There's a lot of other companies and organizations that are more draconian than Hasbro could be. So far, they only care enough to protect their existing IP; as annoying as it is on the fan-community. If they didn't take action on anything that got too big then the IP for MLP would be legally forfeit and there'd be no value in continuing the show.
Looks pretty great for an early-stage build. As stills, the game looks great. But hopefully the movement will be smoothed out, and maybe the audio cleaned up (their voices sounded too recording-booth during the snowball fight).
I really dont get people "criticizing" it. It looks gorgeous, the ambient makes for a nice mood and the only thing that rubbed me the wrong way is the repetetive snow sound. And well, some other things mentioned in the comments already.
okay just letting you know i think this game is set telling the story the mane 6 tried to do in mlp season 2 episode 11. but 4 years after the 3 tribes (unicorn's, ponies with wings, and earth ponies) fought over the land for resource's. doing so they awoke 3 beings of mythical power (these beings freeze anything around the source of hatred) i kinda forgot what there called :3. anyway when friendship is found from the three tribe's the snow starts to clear and these alicorn's (princess Celestia and Princess Luna), yes i know there not called that Only because they don't want hasbro up there ass. these two alicorn's bonded the friendship with the three tribe's (that is why they rule over equestria) i think that's what you were aimying for? still if that is you doing good so far.
knowing that the game is indeed still in development their will be better stuff cause this was just alpha footage this could be better than ever once it comes out
+DracoHandsome Hasbro, you can't copy right mechanics and Windigos are a public domain concept. The only people that have any legal weight or remote interest in this game is Hasbro because ponies.
DracoHandsome *facepalm* First off, that's not how autism works. Secondly, I don't have autism, that joke didn't work as a joke in text, it's sarcastic, and thus, requires sarcastic tone, which texts lacks. I honestly thought you were asking a question because a C&D is all too possible.
Also, just make it configurable in the game's options. Let the players decide if they want the magic to be silent, always on, random, or occasional.
+Dr Shaym
One word “Hadouken” It won’t harm gameplay.
+Inspector Javert I like that one!
maybe make that they say every time the name of certain spells, ones that are really powerful, strange, or for whatever reason, you won't use them often.
make it so that every time counts.
Having them shout it occasionally sounds nice though.
take all my money
+wildshot1000 Lol, you can support the game here www.patreon.com/dreamwings
Also the demo build of the game will be published soon, so you can play!
+A Little Bit Different have you seen the jim sterling video of this?
yeah me too

I think this looks amazing! The environment especially is just gorgeous! One thing I'd really suggest is putting subtitles though, because at certain points it's very hard to hear the dialogue.
5 year's later and still love this!!!
I have rewatched this so many times. 2015 was the best year of pony for me.
Looks amazing for an alpha build! I can't wait to see where this project goes!
The art is beautiful. Love the grass and their hair.
Great game, amazing graphics, hope it’s still coming. Just one problem though:
Astral “Hush, can you hear that?”
Also Astral: *snow crunching intensifies*
Id tread carefully with this.
Big Brother Hasbro is always watching, and has a stack of Seize and Desist forms on hand.
looks cool, i know it's in alpha stage, but for the future i'd highly suggest taking a look at the audio, especially voices. I noticed the voices distort a bit when they start yelling for say an attack. Level that out, maybe turn down the mic input a bit. Anyways, keep up the good work.
even after seven years this is still pretty good gameplay
I am amazed by this. I see some great potential.
Just a few things, whoever is in charge of the sound, take care of the peaking, a little reverb here and there, and maybe a little EQing to cancel those unwanted frequencies. Sound/music is as important as graphics and gameplay, without correctly mastered and processed sounds and music, things can lose quality. Everything else looks good so far, I understand this is just an Alpha, but certain textures, animation can improve a little more too. Very excited for this though ^_^
Keep working hard!
i played the alpha of this quite some time ago during a livestream i did, this looks like it has come a long way, good job
Back in the day I thought this was the best graphics a brony project can even achieved, now looking for the new Demo, I can see a lot of effort for this lovely project ❤️
An interesting concept, if you could flesh this out and really bring it to life I could see myself laying down some money for this.
rewatching, and...still as exciting as when i first saw
I really hope you get the attention with this game. I know there are other games in progress like this, but this one looks amazing.
Whoa. WHOA. I'm so jacked for this. Yes. We need this. More hype for this than we had for fallout 4 in my mind :3
For the voice actresses, best to have them record in a closet with lots of clothes so as to absorb some of the reverb/reflections :3
Simply gorgeous. I'd play the final version just for the scenery

Wow. Strange and cold. I love that ! Is there musician artists in this project ?
I can't wait for this to be released! So much hype! This is exactly the kind of MLP game I've been waiting for people to do!

The only cringy thing i can see is your channel
ThatDamnOstrich I can't take you seriously man, I mean you have a fucking MLP character as your profile picture
That's actually a picture from the new Five Night's at Freddy's sixteen. obviously.
+doun toun with maklemore What else do you want? A planet full of murderer, war, violation, discrimination? Oh wait... we already have that and also much more. I'm so happy that I live with such people together... *facepalm*
I think its fine to dream about a better world.
The only important thing on earth right now is money.
**edit:** Ah btw... I know that it was the original words in all from the description. :D
Just wanted to point my opinion. :P
+ree it isn't cringy.
WHY DOES THIS LOOK SO GOOD
This is awesome! Keep up the great work
I'm in it, as long as the voice acting gets re-done with about 80% less clipping and you drop use of all copyrighted names.
I like it so far! Your doing great!
As for blasting the gameplay and graphics the way we have, no shit they're gonna be flawed; a video game meeting your guys' standards is SOLD for $60 at your local Gamestop and not offered for free.
can't wait to play the demo build!!
10:43 *Smokey Bear comes out of nowhere and hugs her* "only you can prevent forest fires" (LOL)
Holy crap this looks awesome! kinda reminds me of the last of us, I'm amazed I haven't heard about this sooner! This is seriously stunning.
This game looks AMAZING!!! :D
This is unbelievable!!! I can’t wait to play it!!!
The dialogue could use more work. If this is during the early days of the sisters than that means it's ancient history, so the things they say should sound according. Also, Unicorns don't need to cast their spells verbally.
this is amazing!
TAKE MY MONEY, I WANT THE GAME :D
Me 2!
Me 3 because i never seen this before ok but this is game like I never seen before but this game looks pretty cool
im drooling with excitement rn
Love this I will buy when I can
My compliments!
Has it been developed with something like UE4?
Btw it's sad that in the fighting scene the audio is distorted.
P.s. Timberwolves could sound way cooler if you thought about morphing wood sounds with wolves recording, for now they kinda sound like angry dogs tbh. but that's just my opinion
I'm curious of what you'll guys do next!
+Exiark it is UE4 indeed.
+Exiark Those graphics confirmed that it's UE4 :D
This looks really cool, I like the idea of combining spells fusion style the make new spells on the fly, and the graphics look lovely for Alpha.
Just try to keep your head down until release, lest the legal horde mark you for the hunt.
This is unbelievable!!! I can’t wait to play it!!!!!!!
That was pretty good
I like the icy atmosphere.
i will instantly buy this game if it is on steam!!!
pls hazbro dont strek
+SourceThunderLight Somebody once told me Hasbro was gonna roll me
DracoHandsome Hasbro is the worst company i ever seen, they dont want their fandom to make an ads (For free!) for their "Toys"
***** Then you haven't seen very many.
+SourceThunderLight
No, they could be worse.
+SourceThunderLight Oh no! Protecting there intellectual property! Truly they are monsters!
Looks pretty great for an early-stage build. As stills, the game looks great. But hopefully the movement will be smoothed out, and maybe the audio cleaned up (their voices sounded too recording-booth during the snowball fight).
THIS IS AMAZING
Might have some graphics issues but I'm very impressed nonetheless. Looks like it's going to become an excellent game.
I really dont get people "criticizing" it.
It looks gorgeous, the ambient makes for a nice mood and the only thing that rubbed me the wrong way is the repetetive snow sound. And well, some other things mentioned in the comments already.
Because the plagiarism, the bad voice acting, the unfitting snowball gun noises, and the GOLDEN VERONICA make this game a masterpiece.
GOLDEN VERONICA! GOLDEN VERONICA! GOLDEN VERONICA! GOLDEN VERONICA! GOLDEN VERONICA! GOLDEN VERONICA! GOLDEN VERONICA!*
awesome animation
OH GOD LUNA RAN OFF THEY'RE GONNA GET CHASED OFF A CLIFF BY A WINDIGO
...
and as soon as I type that I hear a roar
yup
it's Until Dawn
Her name is not Luna. It's Krinita.
FUCK JUST TAKE MY ALL MY MONEY I BEG YOU,I WANT THIS GAME!!!
okay just letting you know i think this game is set telling the story the mane 6 tried to do in mlp season 2 episode 11. but 4 years after the 3 tribes (unicorn's, ponies with wings, and earth ponies) fought over the land for resource's. doing so they awoke 3 beings of mythical power (these beings freeze anything around the source of hatred) i kinda forgot what there called :3. anyway when friendship is found from the three tribe's the snow starts to clear and these alicorn's (princess Celestia and Princess Luna), yes i know there not called that Only because they don't want hasbro up there ass. these two alicorn's bonded the friendship with the three tribe's (that is why they rule over equestria) i think that's what you were aimying for? still if that is you doing good so far.
Looks awesome
Looks pretty interesting.
Can't wait to play
I'd instruct your voice actors to reduce the gain, and/or not speak so closely to the mic. There's a lot of peak distortion going on.
My god, this looks really really promising.Good thing it's still in alpha, could use a little tweak here and there.
nice work !
I think you should totally remove the fake reflections in the eyes (white dots)
very nice voice acting !
I can't wait 2 C the full game.
knowing that the game is indeed still in development their will be better stuff cause this was just alpha footage this could be better than ever once it comes out
Чувак,отлично,так держать,да работы предстоит много, но я думаю ты справишься,и да, с нетерпением жду демки.
So who's gonna send a C&D first: Hasbro or Sony?
(Sony published Until Dawn)
+DracoHandsome Bethesda might have something to say about that Elder Scrolls fighting too
+DracoHandsome Hasbro, you can't copy right mechanics and Windigos are a public domain concept.
The only people that have any legal weight or remote interest in this game is Hasbro because ponies.
Kenny Martin it must be very difficult to go through life with enough autism to not catch obvious jokes
DracoHandsome
*facepalm* First off, that's not how autism works.
Secondly, I don't have autism, that joke didn't work as a joke in text, it's sarcastic, and thus, requires sarcastic tone, which texts lacks.
I honestly thought you were asking a question because a C&D is all too possible.
Yet Hasbro still owns MLP, for using MLP characters without their permission hes going to get D&C'd in no time
