    I know this is an old video, but I thought I’d share a little tip from the horseback riding world for breaking in leather boots: put them on while you’re sitting around in your house and wrap them with a heating pad for 20-30 minutes to sweat your feet a little and warm the leather. After your feet are feelin slightly cooked, roll around in them for a little while and really flex where you want them to flex. When I do this with new riding boots it usually cuts the break-in time in half.

    The boardwalks are defiantly a stiffer boot and takes a lot longer to break in. What I did to loosen up that ankle was grab a fence and while on my toe stops did a few deep squats. Your mileage may vary on this.

    Glad you ended up liking them! I got Boardwalks recently too and am still breaking mine in (for jam skating though, so I'm not working them as hard as you are at the park). I've been wearing EZeefit ankle booties that I originally got for derby with mine during the break-in process, and they made a HUGE difference in the ankle comfort. Or I fold down tall socks once or twice for extra padding and keep the top eyelet unlaced. They're getting there...slowly.

    The falling back feeling is most likely because the SureGrip Rock plate (stock plate on Boardwalks) has a shorter wheel base than the stock Lolly plate. It took some getting used to when I first got mine, but now it's not too big of an issue.

    I LOVE my boardwalks!! Definitely agree with you and a lot of others that they r super stiff and took a while to break in. I got blisters on my ankle bones for the first 4 or 5 wears but wearing double socks helped. But it was so worth the wait! I got these after only really skating on impalas before. I put park wheels on them I’m so much more stable than my impalas! I feel like I can land jumps and things like that wayyy better. My only complaint with them is even now that I’ve broken them in, the tongues usually start to work their way to the sides and that makes the fit loosen a bit so I have to re-tie them every now and then while skating :(

    • @groovyrollerskate8833
      @groovyrollerskate8833  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hahah omg that tongue thing will be the death of us skaters 😅 But I couldn't agree with this comment more! Its been a few months now and I absolute ADORE my boardwalks now. I'm so much more confident and comfy at the park now in them!

    You picked up on something important with these skates. Compared to my Lollys, the trucks are set further in and the angle slightly different. Really forces me to set my hips down and push forward. I’m not a park skater, but I do cruise outdoors and practice on courts with drills. I love your videos 🥰 Oh! Sorry if I missed a comment, but could you tell us how to strip the wheel silkscreening? Thank you!

    Hi groovy, I just pulled the trigger on some boardwalks 🤣 I heard so many great things about them, the rock plate it's so much resistant than the thrust plate on my lolly's, plus have a stitch sole to em', I'm just wondering do I have to chance the base of my CIB blocks? I'm currently using the black one on my lolly's but I can tell you are using the silver, hope you can answer, love your videos 💕💜 and your skates, xoxo

      @groovyrollerskate8833  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey mama! Ayeee, I’m so proud of you 🤗 honestly to this day my boardwalks are still my go to skates and I love them very much! They are still going strong after almost 2 years now 💕
      For the blocks I’d say it depends which hangar will fit the truck on your boardwalks.. I know I had to swap from a medium size with my lolly to a small because the space on the boardwalks is kinda small.. it depends on your skate size… try out your different hangars first to see if any of them will fit if not I’m sure you can get different hangars from a skate shop! Hope this helps 😇

    Hi!! I’m really struggling to choose between the sure grip boardwalk or the moonlight. I’ve seen positive and negative reviews on both.
    I’m looking for one where I can skate outdoors,just cruising and also dance to music… which would you suggest?

    • @groovyrollerskate8833
      @groovyrollerskate8833  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I like them both but i REALLY enjoy moonlights because they dont have much of a breakin time at all and you can feel comfy in them straight out the box. Boardwalks take a bit of time to breakin but are still a great skate

  • @niarathaartist

    I want a pair of Bont Parkstars but they’re a bit too pricey and I’m looking for a replacement for my Impalas. I love the boot style and heard good things about Sure Grip. Also want a skate with an adjustable toe stop so def might get these

      ugh yess i lowkey want bonts but dont want to take the leap right now haha skates are expense but I love it so worth it! I'd say after a few months of rocking my boardwalks I've been able to adjust to them quite nicely and my park confidence is growing too! ❤️

    Do they form with your foot? Like on the sides? I'm able to wiggle my toes, but they do fit a bit snug on the sides of my food(wides part) and the ankle. I'm not sure if I should go a size up or try to break them in?

  • @SensationallySilky
    @SensationallySilky 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I tried these on and my ankle was like NO MAAM. That upper boot is so stiff (yes, I realize you gotta break em in but all I could foresee was ankle rash from the inside of the boot. (I wound up with SureGrip Fames that are probably one of the most comfortable things I've ever had on my feet.)

    i just purchased these and i’m having a hard time figuring out if it’s too small or if it just needs to be broken in. i’m usually a size 7 in women’s and all the reviews said to size down one so i purchase a 5 men’s/6 women’s. the shoe fits length wise and when i’m just sitting around. no pain then. however, it’s a tight fit at the toes when i start moving around in them.

      @@todorokitay5655 hey! i ended up getting another pair in a size 6 men’s in pink and it fit way better. i feel like it was a slightttt bit on the longer side (length wise), but the toes had a lot of room and it was overall a better fit. the size 5 men’s is tolerable if im just skating for a little, but it does get uncomfortable after a while. i dont think its going to ever going to “break in” and get comfy. i’d rather use the size men’s 6. i only use the 5 men’s if im feeling like using blue for that day 🙂

    Hey! I was wondering how it is using different orb wheels like that, I've noticed the pink and purple ones are 1mm apart in size (the pink being 53mm and the lavender 54) , is that something that you've noticed affects your skating or is it small enough a difference that it just evens out?

      Hey bbs! Thank you so much for subbing and joining the groovy gang! so excited to have you here 🤗 I'd say that the boardwalks take a little bit more time to break in but if you're okay with that its a good place to start! I personally am OBSESSED with moonlights because they basically have like NO break-in time and the skate holds up really well. But it also depends on what you plan on doing in them. The boardwalks are great for the park but probably a little too stiff for jam (IMO). As for moonlights, not so much because of the plate but they're great for dance skating and just vibing out. Hope this helps 💕✨
