    This vid was super helpful. A critter had made a nest right where the vent was, used all the insulation and leaves and junk and blocked the drain port. My carpet is still wet as heck though, a vid showing how you removed the carpeting, glovebox, trim, etc would also be amazing to see.

    I had this problem that was supposedly fixed under a TSB on my 2003 Passat and parked in a parking garage nose up in the rain and when I came out could not get out of park. Had to have car towed home and found TCM Transmission Control Module was a submarine as it filled up with water and shorted out took the part number and bought an exact duplicate to replace . I bought 3M Caulk Strips ripped out old seal replaced with caulk strips reinstalled and lifted carpet and pads and ran a fan and small heater to dry them both no longer had a leak

    For the cars that is equipped with sunroofs, there are two front sunroof drains that is tucked under the windshield that is called a reed valve just above where you are that gets clogged very easily. The way I found out was my passenger front and rear was completely soaked. Reed valve is a fucking stupid ass design because it's an accordion type design that closes when the water stops running through it. Water doesn't crawl up the drain tube. I simply snipped the ends on left and right side. Problem fixed.

    VW has lots of quirky problems. Very true of my car. Nickle and dime you for sure. They need to fix these issues. And the carbon build up issue....that is a super expensive fix and a known issue. This is very likely our last VW. My front passenger floor had a waterfall coming in. And my rear passenger floor is also soaked, which is weird to me bc there is a hump between the front and rear.

    How bout if it's only on the drivers side? 08 VW JETTA.
    I noticed the droplets would come from the side of the car where the electrical stuff is (where you take off the panel) and where the lever is to open the hood (which was recently fixed cuz I broke the latch somehow)? Could it be due to a poor repair or something else? I started to notice mold building up in my car :(

      the water from the front moves to the back if you drive the car or park it on an incline. the front and back are not 100% separated because there are holes to let cables run thru etc...

    i have a 2007 VW Caddy and i came out one morning to a soaking wet carpet after heavy rain and my windows were heavily condensated for a while before that i pulled mats driver side and passenger side to find a whole load of water i am currently trying to find the leak i checked scuttle panel it was slightly blocked so cleared that so i then thought it was windscreen so i am getting this replaced to cancel that out it seems to be coming from top right of dash just below windscreen i am baffled any ideas what it might be any help would be much appreciated

    I had this problem caused by a lot of leaves and debris in both fender drains; everything was fine untl last night, we had a storm and the driver's side front carpet was soaked with an inch of water. I do not recall leaving the window open. The upper L driver's airbag area seemed wet, so it appears water did get in the cabin through there. The 1st problem was my windshield washer motor was on all the time. I pulled the circuit breaker, and attempted to get water off of the L side interior fuse box.
    Later on in the afternoon the horn was stuck on. I removed a 15 amp fuse from the fuse panel under the hood. Hours later reinserted the fuse and the horn is still stuck on. I ordered a horn relay, but this might not fix it. Any information is greatly appreciated.

      Same with me. First time in 18 years!

    • @amramjose
      @amramjose 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Update: The horn is back to normal, whatever water was in the circuit and shorted it, has evaporated. I still have an issue with damp carpets; I have used wet/dry vac several times, and every time I still get water out. Possibly due to the mats under the carpets saturated with water. It might take a couple of very hot non-rainy days to dry. What a pain this car has turned out to be.

    • @alinsafta3508
      @alinsafta3508 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      it's either that shitty plastic frame seal or the rubber around the bonnet release. wipers come down and then the plastic cover before you get acces to it. use w40 a day before on the wipers screws and lot's of it. The bonnet release cable is above the fuse box and water runs down the cable into the fuse box, on the inside of the dash and stops on the floor mat. You need some cleaning materials, silicone, w40 and maybe even a heat gun for the wipers. The plastic lip will not go back as deep as before leaving a little gap between the windshield and the plastic lip. This is nothing to worry about. Time wise will take 1 hour if you don't lose time with the screws from the wipers. Good luck doing it
