I remember going to a local show where the band right before the headliner took almost ten minutes longer than they had because they couldnt get dudes macbook to work for their fucking techno samples.
1991 i was at outdoor gig at Turtle lake Spokane WA ...one of our friends of one band, jumped up in our spot and starting playing with his buddy who played last bands drums still up there ...well after 15 mins i went up to guitar player and asked what are doing its our turn ...he said we got permission from the band ...i said you cant do that, its our gig man, but then i said well i guess your up here already, you play a few more songs while we get stuff up here ...so we starting loading our gear up on stage, while they played, but then it was time to setup drums and they would not stop playing even though we motioned to quit ...so i came up from behind him, and he was shirtless, and slapped him hard on the back ...well he got pissed and threw his brand new borrowed Black Beauty at the drums, and then swung, and i ducked ...then bouncers came and broke it up ...then we get up to play and all our mics start walking away as we play because the whole stage was shaking, so we had our roadies up there with us holding mics for both our guitars mics, and kick drums in order to finish set ...then doormen (who had guns) stole all close to 10,000 of the proceeds ...it was definitely thee most horrible gig ever ...and all we would have needed was chunks of carpet or towels or shirts to keep stands from vibrating and walking away, but we did think of it in the moment
crap i forgot that was not the worst one, i just thought of "blood bath 97" as we dubbed it, where we rented a grange and 500 insane people showed up breaking beer bottles over each others heads and then sprayed pepper spray and so we had to stop playing, just could not breath in there, even after airing it out
I love indys amphitheatre. It's such a shit heap. Moshing in sinkholes or gravel. People rip up the sod and throw it at each other. It's always a blast
This is why bands should practice in bad monitoring situations. That's what we do. this way when we get to a shit venue or event with bad monitoring we can play it through. Also, stop using modeler's and samples live. So dumb.
Nothing wrong with modelers, you can still run a cab if you want, but there really shouldn't be a problem if you can't run samples ...apart from maybe if you're Architects, Periphery or Tesseract and run your show of a Pro Tools session, but at that size you have people accountable.
@@lodougherty that's where you have IRs mimicing exactly that. Have you heard Periphery or any other band playing Axe FXs live? Sounds absolutely stunning to my ears.
@@josuastangl7140 there's no push from a real cabinet. I just saw Memphis may fire live and all the bands there were using modelers except he is legend and he is legend blew everyone away tone wise running 2 dual rectifiers on stage. No contest.
@@lodougherty How is there now push from a real cabinet? Only if it's directed to the audience maybe the first 2 rows would notice, but FOH subwoofers deliver exactly that. I recently saw Architects/Beartooth/Polaris. Only Beartooth were using real amps, but Architects sounded better (Kempers). I don't think it has much to do with real amps/cabs, but rather with who has the better mix or maybe additional instruments on a backing track for a tighter/fuller sound.
Wow that really sucks. What a Horrible Experience. Can't believe they don't have a better way to get your gear to where it needs to be. Sounds like such a unorganized mess. And like you said why didn't the rest of the guys just play like you were at practice or something.
This dude has been gighing since he was about 9 years old ? Come one man. So was bonamassa, thays how he got famous. Fluff, come on man. Worst gig ever here ? We want "worst gigs ever" not "my band had a bad night. Our sound didnt work good. Oh my goodnissss it was so wyld n wacky". Thats regular ol' gig stuff. How about some drums unintentionally blowing up. Or, 3 strings broke on the bass players guitar, lacerated both his eyes, he couldn't see but kept playing on 1 string anyway. Then he stumbled into the singer and he fell off stage breaking a leg, then finished the set hoping around. Some good stuff like that. You know thete is some good stories out there. Come on
I've had in ears go out. You pull them out and listen to the FOH mains and get through the gig like a man.
🤘
I love this show. Please keep this going as long as possible!
"We can't play without samples."
losers
Played a show with a band that has to cut their set in half because of that. I was like are you fucking kidding me guys?
"We can't play with instruments."
Sorry for the ignorance but what are the samples used for in a live setting? Not sure I understand the use.

Cant play without samples? What?
he's very good in front of camera - cool story too
Is this the same dude who’s producing the new Dayshell album?
Definitely
2016 and they were just kids? Did he mean 2006? 😊

Hillarious
Point the amps at the drummer and keep playing. Axe Fx is nice, but sometimes a good cab is all you need.
Ouch...
BEARDS!
Well, at least the name of the band was appropriate. There's that.
Don't feel bad, if I went to the first date on a giant festival tour like that I would expect at least a few colossal fuckups.
To clarify I don’t think the band broke up, he’s just no longer in it.
nah we're broken up. @@RiffsAndBeards
