One week later and I have to comment again having listened to this two or three times a day, singing is amazing, the lap steel is perfect and coming from a lifelong MK fan I enjoy this cover every bit as much as the original.
Wow, thank you! I'm sometimes very slow at seeing these comments, so ...6 months later... thank you for your nice words, Paddy! I'm so glad you love Dave's playing. I think he's great too! My best, G
Came to listen to the original because that is my song to wrapping and organizing christmas presents but stayed with your version. I wish you and your loved ones a Merry Christmas! (Thanks God, now it's snowing here in Hungary :))
simply 'wow'... just heard Knopfler's original for the first time an hour ago, was mesmerized by the fantastic writing, an utterly perfectly crafted song... and now i hear your gorgeous rendition.... fantastic steel guitar accompaniment too... what a voice on this tenderly sung gem! even your pronunciation of "sack o' potatoes" thanks
Thank you so much, Michael! I am still so in love with the songwriting after so many years. Between this song and Romeo and Juliet, MK has my heart completely!
For my money, nobody can paint a picture with words like MK. I remember hearing this for the the first time whilst driving and I was so moved by it, I almost had to pull over. It’s true art. This is a fab version of it. Really does it justice.
I normally don't care for covers of what has already been brilliant version by the Author. THIS version, however, does the original justice. Just beautiful This song never fails to make me tear up.
Oh my. Perfect. Everyone deserves fulfillment, at least of the simplest of dreams. Who cut the onions? Thank you to your father for his signing, and to you for yours, and for sharing.
miss louise, my dear, you are so amazingly talented. i absolutely love your lyrics in your original songs - you are a poet. however, when i hear you cover someone else's music, you always make thoughtful choices, and then you kill it. every little bit. right to death. no survivors. you kill kill kill it.
a story about her dad who died a few years ago to remind her to be empathetic in these times. was he able to see into the future.? it's a load of bollicks mate. unbelievable
My guy, with the anonymity lent through this platform there is no need to obfuscate the fact you're intimidated by her skills. But then again, it's quite apparent that you are.
Une des plus belles chansons de l'immense Mark Knopfler. Merci , Gabrielle, pour ce bel hommage
beautiful cover! from lifelong MK fan here, huge respect!
An Angel is singing a song written by God

I've listened to you sing this 100 times and it still tears me up. So well done and your voice is perfect for this tune. Thanks for sharing your gift.

That was the most beautiful thing my ears have heard for long too many years. Thank you, ma'am.

This is one of my favourite Christmas songs. Amazing.
Man, you did the song justice. So beautiful!
This is just wonderful. Thank you for sharing. This got me thinking how Tina Turner picked up Knopfler’s Private Dancer and made it her own. Fabulous
Vos deux voix à vous et Mark ensemble sur cette magnifique mélodie ce doit être l'apothéose. Merci
Fantastic and touching cover of a fantastic song!
Beautiful interpretation, stunning voice. MK would be proud of you.

Very, very good!! Are you planning to post more covers of MK's songs?
Hi Tommaso! I have thought about learning "I Dug up a Diamond" at some point! :)
@@gabriellelouise1 IMHO your voice would be perfect for "Radio City Serenade", "Wherever I Go" and "All That Matters" too.
Nice
good guitar playing (for a woman) i mean
For a song, and a story, and a performance so beautiful, that comment is a shame.
It's beautiful guitar playing. Period.
