I agree that at full price it's hard to justify next to the Neural Archetype or STL Tonality stuff, but I'm on the PA sub and find myself reaching for their sims a lot, not to mention the incredible quality of the remainder of the plugins on offer.
The UI scale option isn't just for accessibility. It's also necessary or at least welcome when using high-resolution displays, say, 4K at 27" or something akin to that.
hey glenn totally unrelated....but....does maple or birch affect the overall tone for drums....what are your personal preferences for drums in that regard....is there a noticeable difference for recording? cheers from the Navajo Nation -Quest-
Hey Glenn, I recently bought one Kali LP-6 studio monitor, and I was wondering whether it was really necessary for me to acquire another. I hear it's advisable to use a pair, but would it still be possible to mix finely using just one?
Holy Shit !!! I have a first gen ice blue Fender "Strat" with EMG active electronics. You don't see too many of these around or talk about them. Granted they're made in Japan and not the USA, but they were good enough to make the big wigs at Fender's custom shop in Santa Cruz, CA. jealous. Thank you all for such helpful content. And I can't forget a big fuck you Glen !!! 🤘
Wait, are you saying we can record without a box of tubes and 4 x 12 blowing my neighbors clean across the bay, and a pair of Neumans??? This changes the very foundation... Five Finger Silicon Slap? Death Metal soon be Critically Injured Soundcard? Next week: Samples are just alright with me, and click those affiliate links, smash that like button, and share.
If you are "serious" about getting into digital music making with virtual instruments, plugins and working alone: 1. Build a hackintosh. 2. Buy Apple Logic Pro. Reaper, ProTools etc are powerful for RECORDING fat wav files from live musicians, but Logic is about creating music on your own and can record live bands just as well. It's easier to use than anything else. ProTools only comes up if you want to be a recording engineer. I think it's useless for an all in one musician. i only use Reaper for making Podcasts.
Fender HM Strat: has FR Special Some people: REEEEEEEEEEEEE Me: MOD THE FU---- OUTTA IT! That being I'd slap a FR Lo-Pro and a Bill Edwards Locking Nut because muh tuning stability.
I don't understand why people love bias, to me it is worse than free plugin like emissary or vadim taranov stuff. Can't get a good feel and sound no matter what I do
Well, sounds better than BE100. And still nowhere near Plini or Nolly plugin. For a 129 usd (While Archetype Nolly costs around 150, where you got 4 GODDAMN AMPS AND IRs) it's just a waste of money.
If you go through all the 100 cabs, you'll find 1 or 2 good sounds tho! Lol... Also, bx usually runs deals where you can get it for 40-50 bucks so there's that, but you can do extra work and make em sound good. Just wouldn't jump on the full price version personally
@@Spoofaged I mean, you're not wrong. But why should I bother finding a good sound when I can have one right "out of the box" with some Neural stuff? Isn't that why Glenn complains about almost every piece of gear out there (except some reeaaally shitty stuff)? I guess it's also a matter of taste... but man, this Friedman ampsims are far behind compared to all the plugins out there
@@izyggor I was being sarcastic somewhat. Bx diezel sounds good, and I use the dual rec a lot actually. Mostly because I been using it the longest so I already have presets made to how I want it to sound. I own nameless also, and while it sounds good out of the box (mostly) I have to notch the eq more so than I did with the bx rec amp to get the fizz out. And the rec was tons cheaper than anything from nueral. I'm not knocking anyone, especially nueral, I'm just saying there's deals to be had and definitely usable sound from other plugins. Hell even the old free lepou plug still hold their own, you just have to work a little. Once you get something you like, save a preset and no more work required. Load it and go And do you really take Glenn's word for everything? I like Glenn's vids but he's not my Messiah Lmao. be your own judge for your sound my guy! I was just offering up my personal XP with some of the other bx plugs. I personally would rather tweak some settings and try different ir's and have a sound that's a little more mine instead of opening the box and sounding like everyone else. But I also agree that Neural is on a different level at this stage of the game. But if you are budget minded, then a little work can go a long way
@@izyggor no worries man, just sharing things I've learned. There's a bunch of free ir's out there that are really good that make the lesser amp sims sound way better. They also play nice with the neural stuff. So it's worth tinkering. Google free ir's for metal and there a guy linking 10 really good freebies on TH-cam. And don't be scared to try something just because one guy says it sucks lol. You might find something you didn't know you were looking for. For me, I tend to pick a really hot sounding ir from bx sim and then add a darker ir through a loader like nadIR or pulse after it and get some good tones. Also got really good deals waiting on bx sales so there's that too
Quote of the day “as long as it got bigger, it wouldn’t matter if it didn’t do anything at all, Glenn would be happy” 😂
“Anything can Djent if you’re not a coward”
shit I thought this said Clint Norwood. I got confused for a second
We never did find out where she got that nickname
Thanks for having us dude! I appreciate you letting me ruin a perfectly good plugin lol
Great playing, bloke! Hopefully, Glenn uses you for more guitar stuff!

I wish you would ruin more perfectly good plugins.
This sounds phenomenal! Great mix, Glenn!

great video. Great shredding !

Holy shit! Metal Penn and Teller!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘

ah, you beat me to it :P

nice collab guys, a great dynamic duo!

Like the soloing by John Suki. I love the sound of real Friedman amps. difficult to tell on a computer if they equate.
My grandmother's name was Shirley. She was very clean. It was my grandfather who was dirty.
Who knew that Peter Parker could play guitar?
You mean kudos to brainworx for jumping on nuerals bigger button to change the interface size. But I'm kinda glad they did also

We all know would like things bigger haha. There are a few amp sims out there now that have the scroll threw the IR's option

I had a red HM Strat decades ago, and was too young to appreciate it.
Off-topic question - what are your favorite multiscale guitar brands?
Not sure if this is better than what comes in Apple Logic by default. Can we ever get a shootout with Logic? Why run a hackintosh and not use Logic?
Do I need an UAD-2 interface or card in order to use this plugin?
Nope, it's completely native
GLENN!!!!
How do you feel about Post Malone being feathered on a song with Ozzy?
HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN TARED FIRST! LOLZ
Glenn have you tried the Brainworx Dual Rectifier sim? It's the only one that's actually real, I think you would approve

Hey Glenn any Croatian metal bands you come across and you like?
I'm not Glenn but I toured with Cold Snap and they rule
This is great plugin. I have the UAD version . Same developer and looks of the plugin.
Hey Glenn, can you do an episode on how to deal with eye strain? I'm sure this is an issue all engineers deal with at some point.
Damn Trey! Just ditch the beanie already and OWN the baldness... It must get hot under there during the summers in SoCal. Bald is BOLD.
This amp makes me wanna play some black metal!
I feel this plugin sounds a bit sub par, but I don't know why... I liked the mixed part better and that's normal I guess. :)
They nail the gain structure and feel, but the sim is way too dark and not open enough
Haha bollocks! Getting more English swear words in there good chap!

Wasn’t this basically the same thing from UA released a few years ago? I'm honestly not impressed
Shirley Shirley Shirley, You be my girlie :-)
Shrill, fizzy and bad fuzzy. Yep... accurate Friedman sound again,
Duh! Bass player (an a little geetaawww on the side)
I'll be getting that joke sometime next week ...
Glenn, stop down the aperture. You're blurry the whole time.
The Friedman stuff really not my favorite, and for the price you are in Neural territory, which to me is hands down the best.
I just got it for 19.99, so......
we need a Davie504 collabb
