Absolutely, dry beans, including pinto beans, cook very well in a thermal cooker! Soak the beans for at least 6 hours, strain the water off and put the beans in your thermal cooking pot. The amount of beans in the pot is not as important as the volume of food (thermal mass) in the pot. When cooking beans you will want plenty of water. The pot needs to be 75-80% full, so once you have your beans in the inner pot, finish filling the pot 75-80% full with water and bring to a boil. Let the beans boil for 10-15 minutes. Put into the outer thermal unit and leave for 5-6 hours. This works unless you have very old beans. That is a subject for another day. :) I hope this helps!
I've cooked dry corn in a thermal. It takes 2 boilings. First time, boil and put into the thermal cooker. 6 to 10 hours later boil again. By the next morning the corn will be soft enough for pozole.
True - It takes hours to prepared meals with retained heat cooking. The food is boiled - then later after sitting it is opened up and eaten. I do have some videos on this channel of just preparing food. And in my class videos there are some times where I have prepared food. But again, it is usually either showing cooking it - or opening it because the classes are not that long.
Thank you!!
