    My family gifted me one of these packs and I used it as a daily personal backpack for years. It has not failed on me through multiple camping trips, plane rides, my years in the service, and many other silly adventures. I was just about to retire this pack, but after watching your video I think I will try turning it into a camping bag for a while before upgrading. Great review!

      Many thanks for your input, you are right they are a great bag, my only complaint was with the straps which could have been a lot better
      Happy Holidays Take care out there

    These are quite robust but basic. The good old DPM ni patrol packs are my favourite!

      Hello ,thanks for your input yes I guess the DPM version carried on from this Black version, as you say robust my only issue was the straps which were not wide enough to take a load etc , not sure if they improved them on the DPM model. Now with MTP they seem to have gone with a larger 40 l pack or the 17 l combat pack Take care out there

      @@ontherunplmr1218 Yes your right. The early versions had stupidly thin straps, but the later 2022 versions now have wider (normal) sized straps. Might be worth reconsidering again!?
      They do sacrifice the padded side pockets though.

      Hello thanks for that, makes a lot of sense to change the straps, I am now very happy with the Karrimor pack so hopefully that will keep me going Take care out there

    The bottom section is apparently for storing wet towels. The RN still issue the newer ones.

    I’ve had mine for 7-8 years apart from my Bergen it’s the best bag I’ve ever owned I use it daily for everything when out shopping sometimes I over do it and buy to much and think ohh crap how am I going to fit all this in but it always does it’s like a Mary poppings bag.. never let me down when empty it looks so small but when full it seems to grow double its size.. I keep my waterproofs in the bottom pouch all year round so I’m never caught short.. love it

      Yes you are right it is a great rucksack I still use mine for shopping, the only reason I have changed is the problem I had with the strap slippage, short of swapping out the shoulder straps which I did not think worth the effort then other methods did not seem to work plus with age the lining inside etc were breaking down. I hope you have many years left in yours Take care out there

    Is there enough area on the buckle where it bites the fabric to use a razor perhaps to add chamfering texture to bite into the fabric such as found on the grips of a handgun grip or such?

    • @ontherunplmr1218
      @ontherunplmr1218  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello, its an idea, I think the main issue perhaps not just confined to this pack is that the straps are not wide enough , over time they smooth out and the buckle cannot grip. Your idea might work but for my day to day walking I have now moved onto the Karrimor Ruc sac. I am still using this pack for my food shopping trips etc Take care out there

      Hello, yes these are a great pack, I just had a problem with the shoulder straps slipping because they had worn smooth over a period plus the buckles had also worn, so became difficult to use Take care out there

      @@ontherunplmr1218 thank you, and yes I was aware you needed a new sack lol, I think these are great, but I know a few people who've had these but prefer other sacks of a similar size, each to their own I suppose, and its always a good idea to go with whatever works best for the individual. kind regards.

    Always nice to see a new video from you. The good thing about army surplus is that the items are quality, tried and tested. The down side of army surplus is that it's all camouflage and I don't want to look I'm in the militia. I hope the new pack works out well for you. This backpack can be honourably retired to the boot of you car for the odd trip to Tesco for bread and milk perhaps. Brecon have a few businesses that can modify bergens and packs etc..but it costs a lot and I'm sure the juice wouldn't be worth the squeeze here so to speak.

      Thanks, great minds think alike they say ! yes that is my idea use it as an urban pack where do not need to carry all the items like a First Aid Kit etc and Tesco is in the plan. Like you I do not want to have many camo items but i n my case its more about looking like Dads army 😀 Take care out there

    Hello, do you think its worth buying it?
    I like it but i wonder if its worth over Decathlon backpacks that are extremely popular and also good quality.
    I got it for 33 dollars / 26 gbp / 31 euro but i can get full refund if i send it back.
    I need something for daily use and urbex or hiking that will last no longer than 1 day.
    Thanks!

    • @ontherunplmr1218
      @ontherunplmr1218  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello, yes I think at that sort of price they are worthwhile, mine cost 20 gbp and I used it for daily walks over a number of years. I still use it for food shopping just carry items to the car not any distance. They are strong made from Nylon but as I mentioned in my video the straps are not wide enough in my view and over time they just lost their grip. Again as any army surplus item depends on the particular item. At 26gbp then working on number of times you utilise could work out a very low cost
      I never measured mine ( unlike my boots ) but as a guess perhaps 10 pence Take care out there

      @ontherunplmr1218 do you have experience with any Decathlon backpack like Quechua brand? If yes, do u know how they compare?
      Im very unexperienced with hiking etc due to small disability, i just cant decide what should i pick, sorry if these questions are silly, thanks.

    • @ontherunplmr1218
      @ontherunplmr1218  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hello no problem with the questions they are not silly , I do not have that much knowledge about backpacks, I have heard of the brand you mention but have never owned one. Now I have the Karrimor SF pack which is very good but on the expensive side, if you are on a budget then the brands you mention might work, Karrimor ( a separate brand from Karrimor SF ) are sold in Sports Direct and they often have offers. I was using the Army pack for quite a few years and before that a low cost product that lasted many many years, it had been a present and not a well known brand but it did last. Take care out there
