She always puts a lot of thought and work in everything she does and it shows. The whole Christmas album this song is from is simply brilliant.
Her Christmas Together concerts are quite something, too. Just imagine how she sounds inside a church; it's a whole new experience.
About the song, if I'm not mistaken, there is some translation into English (O Christmas Tree). Maybe you heard that.

Tarja is Finnish, but she sings in several languages. This song you heard is from a Christmas album she recorded (From spirits and ghosts). It's a really good album. Tarja's version of "O come, O come, Emmanuel" is also very beautiful ( th-cam.com/video/spJlqZIHK24/w-d-xo.html ). The music video also has these two characterizations of Tarja. However, there is no cartoon. The music has an ethereal sound and the images have a more intimate feel.

Yes, an old Christmas song from 1824, BUT I think Tarja knows the origin of this song based on an old folk song: Tannenbaum is a fir tree and the lyrics originally had nothing to do with Christmas but evergreeness of constancy and faithfullness.
About Tarja: you are so right about her presence. She plays also with her eyes (in fact, like Marko Hietala... you might like Marko's newest: Mika Jaakkola, Soita feat. Marko Hietala).
In the category of different ways to present I would add one type, those whose habitus is yelling "see how good I am, watch me". Tarja is showing us always a character.
Thank you so much for returning to Tarja!

Did you hear Tarja's new song? (from 3 days ago) is called closer to the sky with Trevor Rabin (ex YES). It is from her new project outlanders together with producer Torsten Stenzel. This project has 8 songs, each featuring top guitarists like MARILLION's Steve Rothery, Al Di Meola, Mike Oldfield, SONS OF APOLLO's Ron 'Bumblefoot' Thal, LIVING COLOR's Vernon Reid, and Marty Friedman, Walter Giardino, etc

If you listen to the song "tubular bells" you surely know it and it was composed by mike oldfield but you didn't know it. ron thal is majestic, he was one of the guitarists of guns and roses. Vernon Reid is a well known guitarist for his band and also collaborated with great artists such as B B King, Mick Jagger, the Ramones, etc. marty friedman was a leader of megadeth for almost 10 years. Walter Giardino is a spectacular Argentine guitarist from the band rata blanca (I recommend listening to "la leyenda del hada y el mago") and he has collaborated with mägo de oz, among others.

I loathe Christmas music. But this album is an absolute gem. Never listened to anything like it. Very gothic and very eerie. Only Tarja to make a Christmas album interesting and beautiful. She talks about the concept for the album being duality and the pressure of not being alone and to show happiness because Christmas and all.
But not all of us feel that way. Her mother passed away when she was touring and finishing her classical studies in Germany and she abandoned the degree to stay with her. She had one exam left to graduate... Ranting here because I just finished her singing in my blood book she just released.
She is a force of nature.
She has probably sung in more languages than i can recall.
Finnish, Swedish, English, German, Chezch, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Italian, Latin and Spanish.
You should definelty check Spirits and Ghosts out. She is one of s kind.

I stopped listening to Nightwish in 2005 when Tarja left because the band's style changed completely. The mix of metal and opera was magical, dark, elegant and feminine. With Floor it's more brutal, like a typical heavy metal band that impresses with a lot of belting. Great but not my style.

I love Tarja and I was shocked, that she sang our famous song Měsíčku na nebi hlubokém (Song to the moon) from opera Rusalka written by composer Antonín Dvořák. Czech is so difficult language for foreigners and she made it (including our Ř). Rusalka is something like The Little Mermaid from Andersen's fairytale about unhappy love of the water nymph to the prince . th-cam.com/video/T2VIhB7q9uQ/w-d-xo.html
I am glad now, that she isn't in Nightwish anymore. They are like a big monster without passion, maybe more popular, epic and huge, but not better. Their best songs are from Tarja's era. Dark Passion Play (first album with Anette) was very good, but half of songs were about Tarja or message to her or her housband (like Poet and the pendulum, Amaranth, Master passion greed, Bye Bye Beautiful).
Tarja against them is so improving and experimental with her work. She is unstoppable.
She is in Czech Republic now with her new Christmas piece concert. I am looking forward to seeing her live again. Her persona always fill all stage.
