They could. But who would that help? In the time it takes for them to call the guards you could easily shout out: "HEY! Look at this elven locket the Empress has been keeping!" Also, you were in her vault - where else could you have been, and what else did you learn?
It IS all part of the Grand Game. You can't expose someone for every little thing they have done without them exposing you for every little thing they've done. Just like how Gaspard can't order Briala's execution if he is blackmailed.
Oh they're definitely suspicious, but they're veterans of the grand game, and do their best to not tip their hands.

Dorian was ostracized for "preferring the company of other men" in a kingdom where continuing the magical lineage is heavily valued. Orlesians view Elves as slaves and dogs so the idea that its EMPRESS is romancing an elf would likely cause a scandal at best and a revolt at worst. Dorian likely sympathized with Celene and Briala's situation. Heck, if you don't romance Dorian or The Iron Bull they end up getting together. Similar to how Orlesians view Elves, Tevinter mages do not get along with Qunari since they are at war with each other. That whole falling in love with a race your country loathes is something that Celene and (potentially) Dorian faces. So I can see why Dorian would approve. Basically Romeo and Juliet for these two love stories.
As for Cassandra, as everyone else mentioned, she's a romantic 🤣.
Watching this again reminds me how much I loved Celene's dress. WHY couldn't they get something equally cool for Vivienne, Josephine, Dorian, or our Inquisitor? We're all stuck in that terrible outfit.

From your comment, I can safely assume that you haven't read the ME Revelation novel, due to your statement only invoking what is presented in the game. In the book, it shows how Anderson, Sanders and Saren first met. In the epilogue of that novel, Saren had the research of the ones who put the events of the novel into motion, and sought out the Reapers to "put humanity in its place" and that "Sovereign was the key".
This makes me wonder if you have read the Dragon Age books that the OP was referencing, which showed just how toxic the relationship between Celene and Briala was FOR Briala. I have not either, but I know enough to check my facts and defer to others when their knowledge is greater than my own.
I promise you, I wouldn't have remarked on how information from the books would change your opinion of a character in game if I didn't actually own the books. Which is why I make no reference to what happens in Dragon Age books outside the comics that Alistair, Isabela and Varric are in, but not the ones Leliana, Wynne, Shale, Cole, etc...are in; I don't own them, and have no basis to fully judge what is going on.

Dear bioware, give us the option to team up with Nevarra and Ferelden and wipe Orlaise off the map.
There's a nation of dragon slaying, blood-drinking reavers; necromancers; and tree-punching bad asses out there and I have to "save" a nation of high maintenance clowns who aren't that far from being literal clowns in appearance.

I'm fine with siding with Celene or Gaspard or Briala, but I honestly couldn't bring myself to reconcile Celene and Briala after reading TME...their relationship is unhealthy toxic and abusive. Celene murdered Briala's whole family to advance her political career, she then lies to Briala about this with a straight face for twenty years, she doesn't even feel remotely guilty, and she's find it acceptable to use Briala for her own agenda, and sleep with Briala knowing that her parents'blood is on her hand.
Frankly, I'm shocked that some people even find their relationship romantic, and they try to reconcile Celene and Briala as if it's the Inquisition priority, and pretending the Inquisition is on the quest for love....ugh.

I like how Bioware does that; how a lack of context from the books makes the events of the game be seen in a different light. Like how people who didn't read the first ME book saw Saren's fate in a sympathetic light, even though he sought out the Reapers specifically to destroy the human race. :)
i didn't see briala holding a grudge. Rulers are dicks, it's part of the job description.
Whether Briala has forgiven Celene is her own business, and they both are adult so they don't need other people sticking their nose into their personal business. If she wants to go back to Celene then she can do that herself, without the Inquisitor's interference. The Inquisition exists to save the world, restore order and eliminate those who's behind all this chaos...NOT playing Cupid and encourage those two to reunite. I think "Ruler are dicks" are very weak reason to justify Celene's action.
Honestly, I think the reason BioWare made this option available is for people who have no clue about Celene & Briala relationship or just to satisfy some people's fantasy.
it might be a weak response to you but that doesn't make it any less true. you can have a good ruler but they can't always be good people. The game doesn't even allow non rulers to be good people so what chance does a ruler have.
it is true however that without the inquisitor she wouldn't have gone back to celene but this is because the amulet would have never been discovered and it would have been assumed that it was thrown away. briala got what she wanted, a member of the imperial court. to be honest i made this choice because i didn't like gaspard and after speaking to her and celene it seemed like they had some shit to work out.
I don't think I like how Bioware did the speeches in Inquisition. They're awkward and off tone. Not like the speeches that Shepard made in ME3, some of them even give me goosebumps. But the Inquisitor's sound so force.
Dragon age speeches were never good lol. Except maybe Alistair's speech at the final battle in Denerim.
I'm still cringing from the speech when the male British Inq voice sounded so..... hammy, when you choose to ally with the mages.

I mean reading the book you do see how toxic their relationship is, and it would make letting briala control gaspard the logical choice, but at the same time, looking at the epiligue, celene is now entirely dependant on the inquisition for her power, meaning the inquisitor basically has free control of orlais. Basically you have to ask, whos better to lead, you or briala?
I mean you don't really get more toxic a relationship than Celene and Briala but at least getting them together sets in motion the end of elven oppression in Orlais...

Wow. The Inquisitor walks around saying "Hey I've been crawling all over off-limits places and I found this, what do you think?" and Celene just shrugs this off. She even explains exactly what it is and lets you keep it, when it's clearly both a personal and politically dangerous item. How about "Inquisitor, I won't tell you what that is, now please give that back and stay within the confines of the other guests, if you please." This whole quest was idiotic, but seeing this adds a whole other dimension.
Because then the Inquisitor would be able to threaten exposure and Celene would be dethroned for having a love for an elven woman who just so happens to be leading a rebellion against the empire. whereas by letting the Inquisitor keep it Celene could craft some tale that the locket had no real meaning to her and effectively burn the bridge that threatened her throne

Could someone explain all the possible options and outcomes for Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts? I find it extremely overwhelming how 1 little choice effects everything.
Jda4160 I’m 4 years late but here are, IMO, the only choices that matter.
Option 1: Gaspard is king- Gaspard becomes king and is grateful to the inquisition. This in my opinion isn’t as bad as an option as people might think. Remember you have to think ahead and that after Tresspasser, most of Thedas is basically ready to go to war against the Qunari. Having Gaspard on the throne will be indispensable since he is a capable military leader, despite his expansionist views.
Option 2: Briala is in control- this option isn’t bad either, as Leliana put it, Briala will be the real power behind the throne and Gaspard will only be a puppet. This has the majority of the benefits of the first option, while simultaneously improving the lives of the elves in the empire. However, Briala was technically an agent of Solas, although she is now supposedly independent, how long will her independence last when she has an opportunity to reclaim the elves lost glory?
Option 3: Celene and Briala rule together- This will give you the most positives in the game, and technically the best outcome. But as I said before, there is a possibility that Briala will betray Celene in order to side with Solas, towards the end of Inquisition, many elves, City and Dalish elves alike, disappear to join Solas. Who’s to say she won’t do the same and join his cause when she has so much to gain?
Option 4: You Blackmail all 3- the most personally rewarding outcome that will also give you the most approval from your party and show just how cunning your character really is. The consequences are large however. The civil war basically starts again, and the elves continue to sabatoge the empire. You need a strong Orlias to fight against Solas

Gaspard is no different to nearly all of Thedas. The only difference is he's a military leader that can actually fight against the Qunari and Solas

I found the locket and gave it to Briala, but I couldn't reconcile her and Celene. What am I doing wrong? The more I look into it, I wonder if I made the mistake of sparing Gaspar instead of uplifting Briala.
ChelseaInsaneDay You have to have Gaspard executed, give Briala credit for helping you, and show the locket to Celene’s ladies-in-waiting before giving it to Briala.
Can you make a video showing Michel de Chevin from Masked Empire? I heard he's in DA:I but I haven't seen him.
He's at Emprise du Lion! Near the beginning location where you start off, inside the run down snowy town of Sahrnia just ahead of your first camp. If you enter the Sahrnia, and turn left to exit, he is guarding that town's entrance. He's blonde and muscular, and his name will be right above his head. (Also, Ishmael is in Emprise du Lion as well. Michel will tell you where to find him.)

After reading Masked empire by Patrick Weekes I do have to admit that Celene and Briala' s relationship is pretty messed up and under normal circumstances I wouldn't want them to get back together. However I always do this ending in all of my playthroughs for the same reason why in Origins I always make my friend Alistair marry that opportunistic ice-queen bitch Anora. I would rather have two in a dysfunctional relationship then to risk a future civil war (and a three sided one at that if you pick the three-way blackmail ending)

It literally took me two hours to do this. I had to parkour my way to get a halla statue and then I didn’t talk to those three women and now I have to go back and reload a save 💀💀💀

easy soloution=step 1:have Inquisition spies give word to the elves to get out of Orlais for a time step 2: find out the recipe Anders used to blow up the Chantry step 3: recreate said recipe and bomb the fuck outta Orlais step 4: the elves become the rulers of Orlais now
I went with the threeway truce and the blackmail. They all eat right out of my hand and if they think about poking their head out of the gutter I placed them in I squeeze them by the throat.
How do you end up with them reconciling? Even if I find the locket, Celene still spurns Briala.

No I tried it...but damn this wants me to go back and replay the whole palace thingy just so I could get this ending...a pity a resaved over the save...unless I want to go back and repeat a lot of shit. sigh. Oh well, maybe next playthrough I'll try this ending.

Seathe Linden Yes, I thought it would the best option, but in the ending slideshow there's hardly any difference between 3-way truce and supporting Celene alone. Reuniting Celene and Briala and killing Gaspard so he doesn't come back and cause more trouble is definitely the best option. I have to wonder if it's possible to achieve this result without dooming Gaspard entirely. I'll happily screw him over, but I get the feeling that he might be useful as an extra body to throw at enemies and such

Still bummed the Gaspard had to die for those two to be together. But I'm happy that the Inquisitor has a choice for them to reconcile and make abetter relationship between there people.
Gaspard is a bastard. Why would you want him to rule Orlais. He is pro-military and would only start wars with Ferelden and Neverra. Especially with Ferelden being so weakened now... I might not agree to Celene's methods she and Briala would be the lesser evil and an Elf being a Marquis bodes well for the elves in Orlais.

It really bugs me that the ending where you basically call ALL of them out on their bullshit ends with the problem only being kicked down to future generations and nothing is resolved.

Wait I didn't know about this, that's horrible I was thinking about getting Celene & Briala together to help the elves so I'm a little conflicted about trying the truce or getting them together with Gaspard the corruption would be to a minimum, he'll get things done and worry about the issues in Thedas, so I'm conflicted so I don't know what to go for.
You need to be decisive. Keeping everyone alive only kicks the can down the road: They still hate eachother and they are still plotting. It's the worst possible ending, even if it appears to be the best. Orlais is funny like that. Personally I always reunite Celene and Briala, Celene is moving Orlais forward with education and culture and Briala will improve the lot of the Elves working lawfully with Celene, which is important so they aren't stolen away by Fen'harel!
@@CreativeUsernameEh Celene acutally doesn't care about Briala and the elves. She burned an alienage just show off the nobles she isn't a meek ruler. She even tried to kill Briala. So either Briala doesn't care much about the elves that she can overlook Celene murdering her people or she has a stockholm syndrome. The education is the only good thing about Celene, cause she honestly doesn't strike me as a particularly good ruler for all of her people.

nah bro she's a lesbian. the thing with cailan was just an attempt to bring ferelden back into the fold of the orlesian empire via a marriage alliance. celene and briala talk about it in Chapter 2 of The Masked Empire. other than that she refuses all kinds of marriage proposals for like 20 years even when it would be politically expedient because she's just not interested in men (and obviously was in a serious relationship until the end of TME :P)

Honestly just hearing their dialogue makes me so happy, their relationship was unhealthy before yes but after taking time apart and finding out who they are as individuals, they can come together as lovers, and partners in the court. The Elves will fair much better with them working together. The Orlesbians deserve to be happy.
Woah, can I please say how happy I am about that? I mean...so many people claim that once you parted ways, there is little to no chance you'll be together again. If there were unhealthy aspects in your relationship it is automatically beyond repair...maybe I'm spending too much time on tumblr where almost everyone claims to be an expert about everything...

I managed to get a copy of Thedas, Celene looked haggard in it haha. the artists for the book are not the same as the game i didn't like how old Fenris looked too.

Just like most side dai characters you just "assume" they're in love when dai doesn't even suggest it. Being lovers doesn't mean people are in love. AND if you paid ANY attention to Dragon age lore, you WILL know how twisted and one-sided relationships like this are. The Empress, noble AND Orlesian and an elf. Yep. Screams "love" right here (no it doesn't)

I had such problem with this. Celene, if lives, is the decider of the other 2, even though she's done them both wrong the most. She stole Gaspard's thrown and killed Briala's family. i would have chosen Gaspard or Briala over her, but both had huge consequences.

Orlais == the game. Gaspard lost his throne b/c he wasn't as clever. She stole his throne, and b/c he couldn't steal it back, she kept it -_-
She didn't steal the throne. Celene has a more direct tie to the royal bloodline. Gaspard was trying to steal her throne.
And this is why I still believe the throne should go to gaspard. Without his invitation to the inquisition has no means to prevent orlais falling to chaos.

Sera has a strong dislike for Dalish elves, so I think that's why she disapproves of Briala. I'm not completely sure about this.

I personally think that Sera suffers from internalized racism or racial self loathing, probably due to a mix of being raised by humans, being told by said human that other elves 'hated her' and always feeling inadequate because she could never be human despite how much she renounces her elven heritage.
This does happen in real life, usually to people belonging to oppressed groups who sought to escape the stigma of her ethnicity/beliefs by renouncing and hating it.
