  • Showing everyone who is looking for a good old fashion washing machine. This one allows you to put the water and soap in first before the clothes. This video shows you the entire wash cycle with power rinse. This is the "whites" cycle.
    The purple magnet you see in the screen is to disable the child safety feature for the purpose of recording this video. Under normal conditions if you open the lid of the washer the washer will stop what ever it is doing. If it is in the spin cycle the washer will throw on the brakes and stop spinning.

    Does that whining ever get annoying?
    Do you know what sort of motor it has? Sounds a bit like a pole motor to me

    THANK YOU SO MUCH for this very useful video! its almost exactly what i needed to see before deciding to buy this or not. i said almost cause i really wanted to see if the clothes come out tangled or in a knot or twisted like many many reviews say. do they? and also i noticed that the agitator is super slow. i dont think that it moves the clothes strongly enough to agitate all the soap out of the clothes in the RINSE cycle. its ok for washing, but for rinsing i think it needs to be more aggressive move! i could ee that the last water on your rinse cycle was still dirty..... is there a way to speed it up? or not option?
    another question would be if the HOT selection comes out 100% HOT like right out of the tap?
    and lastly, how did u do that thing of the magnets cause i DO want to have the lid open while WASHING or RINSING so i can see how the water is moving and if the clothes are moving properly, etc. i am very picky about that. (i dont care to have the lid open while spinning. theres no need to see anything there. and i dont have kids anyway. is there a special trick or a special magnet to buy to do that? and where do u put it? does it have be in an EXACT position? cause i noticed that before the purple, u had other colors in other places... why?
    again thank u so very much for this video!

      To answer your first question: "How do the clothes come out." The come out of the washer like any other traditional washer. They are pressed up against the sides are the spin cycle. If the washer is heavily/overloaded or has many small garments then they may be intertwined. If you are washing dedicates there is a special cycle for that and I would suggest doing a smaller load. If loaded with the correct amount of clothes I've never had any clothes get wrapped around the center agitator. There will always be space in the middle after the spin cycle.
      "RInse Cycle Question": The water is pretty clean I've never noticed soap build up or residue in my clothes. This load was a special load. In hindsight a poor load to record because two of the red shirts in there are brand new and it was there first wash. Accordingly there was a reddish tint to the water that normally isn't there due to excess dye leaving the clothing. I was worried about my khaki colored pants in the washer getting dye transferred to them, but that did NOT happen. Rinse cycle starts here: th-cam.com/video/gEhWNAuI9wY/w-d-xo.htmlm35s
      Wash was done in real time to give you the length of the "Whites"/harshest cycle. You can drag and drop the status bar on the video to skip to different parts of the cycle if you wish.
      "Is Hot, Hot?" Yes the hot water comes out as hot as your water heater heats it to come out of your tap.
      This is a splice of two videos. I messed up the recording of the dark colors load. Then I filmed the light colors load, but forget to show how you can load it. During the loading the magnets where not in place. They are not special magnets. Any button type magnet will do. It does need to be relatively strong. Nothing exotic, but those free refrigerator magnets given away for free by businesses will not work.
      To position the magnet you need to sort of feel where it grabs the magnet below the surface.
      I thought a video like this may be useful for others. I'm glad to help.
      Please like and share the video.

      Milena Koncar I have a GE washer and the agitation is strong. It could be that it is overloaded or he is using the more gentle wash. Also for the rinse cycle, there is just a spray rinse, a traditional rinse where the tub fills with water, and my model has an extra rinse option. You can choose what kind of rinse you want. I think they want to you to save water so the spray rinse will only spray your clothes in the rinse cycle if you choose the spray rinse. It doesn't fill the tub with water and agitate.

    I bought this model back in 2014 and I have regretted it ever since. It makes sounds resembling metal grinding. I'm currently waiting for this washer to be serviced for its control knob, not working.

    My mom used to have a machine similar to this but it was a high efficiency model with electronic controls. And it was absolutely terrible. Bearings went out, mode shifter went out, and then motor went out. It was bought in 2012 and got replaced in 2017 so not even 6 years. Washing machines shouldn’t fail after 5 and a half years. My grandma’s direct drive lasted like 20 years before it failed. It was definitely a 90s model. It got replaced with a Whirlpool washer model WTW5000DW1 which is a absolutely horrible washer in many ways but not as bad as the HydroWave.

    I have the same washer. Have had it for 1 hour and I have to say that continous at the beginning sounds like an alarm clock going off. Also when I wash clothes on the color cycle the timer pointer never goes to off even though it's done it stays on drain and spin. Not impressed.

      +Mike Nardi Trade it in and get a Speed Queen! The wash action on this GE in the video looks really weak. A Speed Queen's wash action on gentle agitation is way better than this GE,...and I used to be a GE fan,more or less!

    Do not purchase this trash. This thing cannot handle simple loads. I place in 3 pairs of jeans and 2 dark shirts and it constantly locks requiring a reset every single time. The frustration in getting it to work was insane and caused me so much stress in dealing with my family who (until they tried it themselves) screamed and yelled at me for "Breaking" it. Cleans underwear and light loads fine, but that's it. It is an overpriced undies soaker.

    I have this same washer. It is less than 2 years old and is nothing but junk. And of course Ge has discontinued this model. I wonder why. I have ordered a Speed Queen and when it arrives this piece of junk is headed to the metal bend.

      jam12588 what broke on it?

    • @jam12588
      @jam12588 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      almost from the start it would get out of balance and it is level and then it don't kick into high spin and the bottom of the fins broke on the agitator. we still use it but anything larger than a medium load has to be spun out twice. the Ge i had before it lasted about 10 years so i thought another GE would be a good choice. the GE dryer i have rubs in the front and so i had to tilt it back a tad to help and i will use the dryer till it plays out but when my speed queen washer gets here the Ge is gone.

      @jam12588 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, My Speed Queen arived couple of weeks ago and i love it. i have had several extra large loads with extra large body towels and such and the SQ gets the job done and it has not moved at all from where its was installed.

    • @yambo59
      @yambo59 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great-!-and that's how its supposed to be, and how it was for 5 decades - until the 90's when washers started going downhill. It doesn't matter what I put in my SQ, the machine never moves regardless of load or degree of balance. Its amazing to me how many people have forgotten how good washers used to be, not to mention how readily they jump on the HE bandwagon, letting themselves be sold on water usage, fancy paint jobs and failure prone computer controlled music boxes. They don't even mention raw performance or reliability anymore, the lonely Maytag repairman is long gone-lol I hope more people come around and buy just one good performing long lasting machine instead of falling into the trap that five years or less is a normal service life for a $1,000 appliance. From what ive heard from my local appliance guy Speed Queen is having a hard time keeping up with sales the last two years, I think word is getting out - specially after the massive Samsung recall of exploding machines.
