    The yellow valve that’s far to my left. Is that supposed to be loose or is it supposed to be tight?

  • @sandrarichardson2713

    Well....I was interested in the other valves that were under the dome and their function...the ones with the yellow screw on caps. There is a bigger one and a smaller one. What are they called and what is their function?
    Thanks for your help. Jesus bless.

      Me too. If you have a propane tank and don't know what the valve or level gauge is you probably should not have a propane tank.

    I thought you said you were going to explain the rest of the valves, not just the high and low pressure regulators what about the rest of the outlets and inlets where it goes in where it comes out what are they for how they used.

    Why do propane companies charge 30-50 dollars if it does go empty? I mean , They say it's to relight my stove And water heater even though I have electric or automatic ignition on everything and or leaks , but why would it leak if it wasn't before ?

      Most states require the delivery drivers/gas technicians to perform a leak check if the home has an "interruption of service." An interruption can be an a section of pipe being depressurized, your tank running empty, or or if the regulator/meter is replaced. The reason you perform this test is because if there is no propane, you don't know for sure what caused that. Did your tank run empty because you didn't fill it, or did it run empty because you had a pipe or appliance leaking? If it's the second option, you best hope the technician coming out performs a leak check to verify everything is gas tight, otherwise you're about to dump hundreds of pounds of propane into your house.

    Does the valve controlling flow to the house get closed during filling? My daughter had her tank filled last week and now the furnace isn't running. I'm wondering if the driver may have forgot to reopen the valve, thereby starving the house/furnace of fuel. I'll have her test her cooktop when she gets home; that would also tell us if propane is flowing. She lives half way across the country, so I can't go out and check for her; any help/information would be appreciated. Thank you.

    I would think the shutoff valve is more important than the gauge.

    PS. Our tank is approx. 48" high and 5' in diameter. How do we calculate our capacity of propane? ♡

      Look on the data plate. It will “ w.c.” But , that size sounds like a 120 or if it has “ dot” on the side of the tank it’s a 420. About 96 g of propane = about 80%.

    Can I run a 12000 watt generator off of a tank that size, if so, what do I need to do it ?

    • @aron6998
      @aron6998 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      A 12k generator can be ran with any tank above 250 gallon the larger the tank obviously would mean more run time so it just depends on your needs, if you know the btu’s of that generator it’s fairly easy to know the run time per gallon for example if the btu of the generator is say 150000 than it would run approximately 1 1/2 hours on a gallon of propane

    • @19580822
      @19580822 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The valve on the left with the yellow cap is the filler valve. The one in the center is called a combination or multipurpose valve and sends gas to your house through the pigtail and red regulator, but can also be connected to the delivery truck for vapor equalization (makes it easier to fill the tank).

    Mine froze up twice in 2 years. Any suggestions?

    • @19580822
      @19580822 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, keep more propane in it or get a larger tank. Icing on a tank is a sign that you are using more gas than the tank can supply, which refrigerates the liquid inside and causes the pressure to drop. Keeping the tank as full as possible will allow more liquid to be in contact with the tank walls which will in turn allow more heat transfer through the walls and increase natural vaporization.

    • @maylonjones
      @maylonjones 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If your tank is freezing over could have leak . Vapor is leaving at faster rate then liquid that's in take there for cause tank to have a frost line

    I thought 90% was ok.

    • @19580822
      @19580822 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      On a hot day you can fill a tank more than on a cold day, because you don't need as much room for expansion (it's already hot and the liquid won't expand much more than it already has), but for all practical purposes it is just easier to remember one number - 80% - for worst-case scenarios.

    • @aron6998
      @aron6998 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      90% is perfectly fine in an underground tank but best to stay at 80% when tank is above ground
