  • I have been looking for a good replacement to my leaky exterior faucet for several months and I'm happy to say the Aquor House Hydrant has been absolutely perfect! It was incredibly easy to install and has been simple to use. This video will go through the entire process of removing my old outside faucet and replacing it with the Aquor House Hydrant. If you're interested in getting one of these for yourself, I've included a link below!
    aquorwatersystems.com/shop/ho...
    The reasons I've been interested in using an Aquor system:
    1. Frost and freeze-proof - the Aquor system automatically drains itself when you take the hose-connector off.
    2. Leak-proof - there are no fittings outside, so there is nothing to leak from!
    3. Kid-proof - it's much harder for your kids to mess around with the faucet. My kids love to turn the hose on without asking and disconnecting the hose connector has prevented them from using the water without permission.

    Whenever you tape threads, put it on in the same direction as the threads. On that close nipple that came with your adapter, you should use two pieces. Thanks. Good job and Happy Baby.

    When applying teflon tape to a fitting - hold the tape roll in your right hand with the tape hanging off away from you. Hold the fitting in your left hand, use your left thumb to hold the tape against the fitting and roll the tape with your right index finger through the middle of the roll and wrap over and around the fitting. The tape wrap will hold itself and you will be wrapping the proper direction for installation. You actually put the tape on backwards on the nipple.

    every time i see an Aquor install everyone has this extremely convenient access to the plumbing. That in itself is 3/4 of the job there. If an when i decide to install These, I have a small nasty little crawl space with the floor being lined in instillation hiding the pipes. I guess these are good guides for getting an idea of what to look for when buying a new house ;)

      My house is 130 years old and my space was very tight working conditions, unfortunately that is why I didn't show much of the piping situation. I literally couldn't get my camera in there. 😏

    When using a hole saw on an already existing hole, cut a hole in a scrap piece of wood the same size of the existing hole. Use that as a guide and it allows you to make the hole larger.

    Does that drain back as far as the couplers you installed?

    • @WelcometotheWoodsBlog
      @WelcometotheWoodsBlog  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There's a mechanism inside the hydrant pipe that controls the release/closure of water. So on my 12" hydrant it drains back about 9" of it.

    I'm confused about predrilling holes. Why can't you wait till its turned on snug and then drill the holes?

    • @WelcometotheWoodsBlog
      @WelcometotheWoodsBlog  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could, I didn't want to risk my drill bit from coming in contact with the stainless steel cover and potentially marring it or the drill bit breaking.

    Sorry to say this but changing a frost free hydrant is not usually this easy , most homes are crawl space with low crawl itchy insulation, spiders and such . Many times the old faucet is soldered and want screw off other times it is too tight to unscrew in a tight space either way the copper can twist up like a piece of licorice candy . Some hydrants are actually above floor level and inside an interior wall . Do yourself a favor and pay a plumber to do this job . Hats off to this mom I wish her and her family well 👍

    • @randyblackburn9765
      @randyblackburn9765 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Friends4ever225ou may be able to use a shark bite coupling if there is enough copper behind the faucet . Also if brick and mortar are tightly around the old faucet it won’t slide out you have to cut the faucet loose inside , pull it forward, cut it in half and drive the other half back through then drill the hole larger for the new faucet.Changing a frost free hydrant is usually a difficult task , I’ve been doing this many times for over 50 years , why this lovely mom is presenting this is beyond my comprehension.

    I don’t mean to nitpick but I think it’s important to use correct terminology. Several times you mentioned plumbers putty but what you were using was pipe dope or thread sealant. Plumbers putty is a completely different item and not used on pipe thread.

      Fred Smith, it could get down to -18 degrees F or -28C in the winter. They might have to move several feet of snow to shut off the water outside. Much easier to do it in the basement.
