- On February 1, 2021, the Myanmar military seized power and it has held onto it since. The political upheaval and fighting forced tens of thousands to flee the country and even for those who remained, the coup has changed their lives. CNA Correspondent speaks to those still living in uncertainty as refugees two years on, and takes a rare look inside the country, revealing what life has been like in Myanmar for those who stayed behind.

That woman Noeleen Heyzer, UN Special Envoy on Myanmar, went to Myanmar and met with Myanmar military leaders and took presents from them and then left the country. Obviously, she didn't go there to help the suffering civilians. Such a shame 😞
everyone who has a UN/NGO post in Myanmar or any UN special envoy coming to Myanmar are in it for the "gifts". even now, they are already setting up dummy offices to split the aid for the people among themselves (UN staff) before the aids have arrived. they have been doing that forever, it's a racket, which is totally unacceptable. the UN and NGOs corruption must be rooted out. furthermore, all the important UN positions were taken by the cronies and relatives of Military Junta Brass.

Speaking of ethnic and religious tragedies Burma facing today, the fact that the world's longest Civil War which is in Myanmar, mainly between Buddhist Burmese and Christian Karen (while Buddhist Karen are largely at peace) was made it possible, prolonged and supported by Anglo Clans of USA, UK & Australia, etc while they are using next-door neighbor Thailand (which has a defense treaty with them) as a base camp since in the 1950.
In my humble opinion, ethnic Karen refugees fleeing the conflict/war in Myanmar are entitled to cross over to Thailand to stay, as well as eligibility to relocate to new places such as USA, Australia.
- The fact that the world's longest Civil War which is in Myanmar, mainly between Buddhist Burmese and Christian Karen (while Buddhist Karen are largely at peace) was made it possible, prolonged and supported by Anglo Clans of USA, UK & Australia, etc while they are using next-door neighbor Thailand (which has a defense treaty with them) as a base camp since in the 1950. True, ethnic Karen refugees fleeing the conflict/war in Myanmar are entitled to cross over to Thailand to stay, as well as eligibility to relocate to new places such as USA, Australia.
- Anglo Clans of USA, UK & Australia, etc are using next-door neighbor Thailand, which has a defense treaty with them, as a base camp since in the 1950s; from which attack against China/PRC was launched by sending Chinese Nationalist (Taiwanese Kuomintang) forces into nearby Burma's eastern border closed to China in the '50s and '60s.
In the '60s and '70s, using Thailand as a base camp, attack against nearby Laos & Cambodia were launched during Indochina war where several millions innocent civilians were killed.
- Colonialism & Colonization are evil things done and benefited by evildoers.. Here in Singapore, a tiny island with 6 million souls lives like sardines in a can, where else in nearby vast bountiful Australia which is ten thousand times 10,000 bigger with a mere 27 million inhabitants.
Similar situation in tiny and packed Japan, which is running out of space and land. Do you know that their living room and bedroom are the same place, and that most Japanese people sleep in their living room.
- Here's the one solution. Why don't Burma's Muslim, Hindu & Christian population, if they wish, move to place like Anglo Colonized vast bountiful Australia/New Zealand in Asia-Pacific region? After all, these are Asia-Pacific lands looted from Native Asians-Pacific people." 😔
Speaking of the coups in Burma and some others around the world today are totally different from the coups which took place over half a century earlier when newly independent nations, including Burma, just came out of centuries-long Colonialism, bitter and poverty-stricken, turned to a new deal of Social-Democratic system (Socialism/Communism).

May I ask why are they treating it so differently with Myanmar and most of all, what are they up to, what is their truth motives behind all these?
- Speaking of USA-led joint annual military exercise in Thailand, which has been under military coup since 2014, and true, last August 2021/22, the largest annual military exercise was held among full participating nations, USA, Thailand, South Korea, Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia & Singapore.

The young generation in Myanmar has exposure of the outside world via internet. They can see that neighbouring countries are developed and prosperous. They feel frustrated to know that their country are now left behind economically, socially and development. They know their future is bleak under military regime ruled. It is like living in North Korea.
The economy was growing rapidly during the past few decades under military rule. It's far deeper than economic development or social/political rights. The military regime has been in power since...forever and with that there were many social issues. In a way, it's similar to Iranian regime. People don't march the streets just for clothing choices.

Its so sad that this country i only heared and see in the book one of the beautiful country ruin by its own people. My coworker always worry about her family they do not stay in one place because everytime the army see people they get shot by gun even children. Just last month her brother died.

Malaysia has many of these so called 'Myanmar refugees', most are given temporary sanctuary based on humanity ground until the crisis in Myanmar can be resolved by ASEAN and UN in the future, hopefully every effort can be put forth by both international org. to find new places for these persecuted persons, before Malaysia is overwhelmed with more coming in weekly. The interests behind the big countries in Myanmar are very complicated and serious. There are superpowers such as the United States and China. There are also Japan, Britain, and France. If it is not handled well, several countries will become independent. None of these big countries dare to offend anyone! There are dozens of local armed forces in Myanmar, and they will all find their own backers. The military government also knows that intelligence does not dare to offend big countries.

Lets put UN Peacekeeper troops in Myanmar for 10 years to oversee the transition.

Not quite. Western leaders like Barack Obama & John McCain had both visited Myanmar & made sure the Tatmadaw knew that they supported Suu Kyi. But then, Myanmar started the Rohingya genocide/ethnic cleansing.
Remember that in the West, ethnic cleansing invokes memories of Hitler & really upsets them.
In Europe, Suu Kyi actually defended the generals - she called them "rather sweet". When reminded by BBC that she was a Nobel laureate & an icon of peace in the same vein as Mahatma Gandhi, she said she was a politician & that Gandhi was also "an astute politician". At the same time videos from Myanmar showing Buddhist monks spreading hatred against Muslims & the Myanmar people supporting them were shown on Western news channels.
All this made the West realize that Suu Kyi wasn't a champion of democracy as they once thought. She was just another politician trying to gain power by using her leverage in the West. Nor was Myanmar ready for equal rights for all its citizens - a core democratic principle.
This was a big mistake on Suu Kyi's part, because once the Tatmadaw realized she had lost her leverage in the West, they toppled her govt & put her behind bars.
China/India *don't* care if Myanmar is democratic or under military rule. They will do business with whoever wins. Only the West cared about democracy & that changed after the way the Rohingyas were treated.
I pleade for PM Modi for Myanmar's democratic resolves.
Myanmar needs an election, its OWN leader, direly. UN nominates and let the people decide. Emergency ASEAN MEET?
UN need to build database of all Myanmar citizens (demographic) - easier re-instatement if only there is a way to pacify this military outrage. Great reporting about the situation in Myanmar. Dictators are the same all over the world. In Venezuela people have been displace to the neighboring nations too. Many Venezuelans run away to Colombia, Peru, Chile, Argentina but no nation has a real program to help those Venezuelan people living in those nations. There are too many Venezuelans in PEru and Chile that it has become a problem for them to handle those venezuelan people. it has created problems all over south america.

It's obvious there is a huge gap between the Military government and the anti-Governmet forces of understanding to bring Myanmar democratic. The Military government talks about powersharing within the military government state with the advantageous conditions. The anti-Governmet forces want the total liberation from the military dictatorship. Can they consider a ceasefire and initiate a dialogue how to reform the current deadlock? A breakthrough of any kind is needed now. The foreign governments economic sanctions against the Military government will not work. Armament trade is profiting by selling to both sides.
