Cute apartment.
Put the scratching post away from the couch and get another one…. Amazon has double sided sticky tape for cats that you can put on the 8 corners of each end/side of the couch corners or use strips of packing tape on each side of the corners - cats don’t like the “slick” feel of the tape. Leave the tape on until not scratching becomes a habit.

If you put soft paws on his claws it might help him scratching furniture! It’s cheap and super easy. Usually if you can’t do it on your own your vet should be able to put them on for you.

have the cat declawed?
Most vets won’t do that anymore because it’s so painful and unnecessary. They actually have scratch strips that can wrap around furniture to protect it.
Cut off the tips of your fingers and see how you like it. That’s what declawing is to a cat.
