Pro Tip: The best place to furnish your new apartment or home for free or relatively low cost is to join NextDoor. Where I live in Silicon Valley people give away very nice furniture every day for free because it's either a hassle to sell or move it...I really like that small balcony; that's a great feature. Your rent is way lower than you'd find in California.

So happy seeing you set up your new apartment. I go to both Sam’s and Costco. I buy many things from Sam’s but Costco is best for organic fruits and vegetables.
It was great seeing your mom and brought back many memories of my mom helping me move in my 20s,30s and now 40s. My hubs and I purchased our last custom built him 3 years ago and cried my heart out because she was there for every dorm move, apartments and now our 3rd and final house. It’s just feel complete when your mom shops and help you unpack.

Welcome to DC! If you haven’t thought about it already, I suggest a hanging paper towel holder to free up counter space. They’re super renter friendly too!

costco is very organized here in Australia... left of the store is electronics/house decor middle is clothes and shoes, and the right of the store is food products at the back is meat, bakery, and dairy.

I loved seeing this :) I moved to Europe 2 years ago and might be moving back stateside to DC in the fall for work. I feel so stressed about starting completely from scratch after being away for so long but luckily my best friends will be there 😌

Girl I live in MoCo and you’re in the PROMISED LAND of fb marketplace finds. So many people are moving in and out of the district all the time and always selling some really nice and high quality furniture! I know you posted this like forever ago, but if there’s anything you still need/want to upgrade it’s a great option!

life hack, keep the bed spread you have and just buy a duvet cover and slide it over your current one. You'll save the money, and less storage to have to store your other one!
Luckily I have a down comforter so all I had to do was swap out the duvet covers! But this is such a great hack 🙌🏼

My daughter moved to DC this past August. She is in Petworth and she loves it. Not so much her apartment, but the area she loves. Her apartment has flooded 16 times and is unable to break her lease.
16 times??? That sounds awful. I hope she’s able to get into a new place soon!
@@CharlottePrattYT Most of the flooding was sewage! Last 3 times was water during bad rain. Worst case, she is halfway through her lease. The city has had to get involved. No more issues with the plumbing at least.

Just wondering what you're going to do with those chairs once you get a couch? Those seem like a huge waste of money unless you're keeping them.

Also make sure with your wifi speeds than your upload is at least 250Mbps and download 500Mbps or higher as you’ll be waiting for your videos to upload for ages haha!
