- Perplexity founder and CEO Aravind Srinivas joins 'Squawk Box' to discuss the state of the AI tech race, what differentiates the company from other competitors, competition with Google in search, and more.
Credibility is everything. The links really help believe what a chat bot spits out.. big USP for perplexity
It’s really good..just tried on a search for a specific product with specific features and add on - came back spot on!
So far, only perflexity answered my logic question correctly.
This company is literally a wrapper around gemini, llama, openai etc. So one of them must be capable of giving the right answer. What were the logic questions?
@@rameshsharma8087 The question was about detecting affirming the consequence fallacy.
just tried asking it for a capital city and got the incorrect result and then below it the correct result from the google search. Very disruptive :)
you gotta see the bigger picture
@@tyteachestechthere is no bigger picture. Google will remain king for the next few decades. Perplexity has no viable business model.
Perplexity is great now cuz it ain't monitize. Imagine the aggregation of links and content happening through SEO (that is someone paying more). In that case, other than the friction of clicking on Blue links, how will the search and content be great for the end user?
They have a great product okay... But its gonna be about figuring out a good business model.
they have no product - i dont see this guy building a viable business model at all. they certainly wont be able to compete with google - this guy claims perplexity is an answer engine...lol. who trained this guy?
The final argument regarding the avoidance of competition with Google was not well-supported. Companies have consistently demonstrated their ability to adapt and reinvent themselves. For instance, consider the transformation of Mac with the introduction of Apple's iPad and other products. By utilizing Preplexity, users indirectly reduce Google's revenue, prompting incumbents to adopt a more aggressive approach towards Gemini and similar platforms to recover lost revenue rather than allowing others to capitalize on this opportunity.
Yup Google rolling out AI gen summarization too
I mean, how complicated should search be? Why should my search for a link or an answer be obfuscated by ads and confusing algorithms designed to make me click on these ads? You should look into how Google's Prabhakar Raghavan boosted spamming sites in an effort to increase ad revenue. You often have to run through a maze to find basic answers to common questions on Google now. And don't get me started on how Google purposely presents an inferior version of its search website to non-Chrome users on Android. I think Perplexity is terrific as it is, and it will improve a lot in the future as it will get the abilities to synthesize longer and more detailed answers from more sites. But at the end of the day, it's a for-profit company. And to keep their profit margins green, they may resort to the very questionable techniques Google has employed.
Another day another Indian CEO, good for the world.
who is the CEO of outlier ai?
🇮🇳🇮🇳
lol
Will Google not provide answers similar to Perplexity using their own model on top of the search results and still continue to provide regular links to continue to support their add model
Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge provide similar features for free.
Not google chrome yet but Edge with Copilot integration yes.
This company is literally a wrapper around gemini, llama, openai etc. And they want to "disrupt" google 😂
Google Chrome doesn’t have those features
@@rameshsharma8087 God no! This is clearly a google replacement. Try them both side by side. You dont have to pay for Perplexity.
Perplexity is useful in the way google was 20 years ago. After a period of bait and switch, people will move away from Perplexity too.
Only reason I like perplexity better is that it offers sources to where its finding its answers.
So does bing copilot
Still trying to figure out if they have a strong business moat 🤔
My direct experience with Perplexity has been mixed
They don’t. Smart guy. Short-term business. Wrappers should not be billion dollar companies. This is literally the next major function OpenAI will focus on. I don’t see him beating the model provider. For actual performant agent, search is key. Thus this company has no future outside acquisition. Not to mention OpenAI data advantage for hyper-personalized search.
perplexity is really good
His voice and accent matches with tennis player Grigor Dimitrov.
Just another wrapper on top of Google.
Chatsonic already did this long ago
How long before Google cuts PP from its search
Strong words for a company that is literally a wrapper around gemini, llama, openai etc. 😂😂😂
So true. These guys get attention like they lnvented genai
open ai too is built on open sourced stuff by google using a framework developed by Asish Vaswani of Google Brain
YOU KNOW what? the physical internet / web is located in a building in harlem. A big PC looking tower .. thing. it all spider webs back to it.
Everyones looking for the next crypto unicorn. Weewus presale might just be it. Incredible potential here.
I am not in the US so I am wondering what the difference between NBC and CNBC?
Owned by the same group, Universal. NBC is the public (free) channel that serves regular news, tv shows, sports, etc. CNBC is primarily business focused (investments, stock market, corporate, entrepreneurship, and everything that touches that).
Get 100k H100 GPUs then we can talk
Low hanging fruit. Try Gemini 1.5.
Use it if you want to look at ads.
What will happen if OpenAI, Mistral, LLMA and Claude stop providing their API services??? 🙄
If you wanna meet with me than I can brainstrom you some Ai thats safe and not to complecated. you have to work out the details .... get with me and just listen to my ideas.
The whole business centered around Google search is a very risky starting point I think. Its a good software though
Crypto gems are hard to find, but Weewus presale shines bright. This could be the investment that sets you up for life.
HUMAN TISSUE SHOULD NEVER BE ALLOWED IN THE EXPERIMENT OR PRODUCT. cloning laws and all kinds of stuff.
why does this guy sound like a bot
This guy might have a good product but he could talk a glass eye to sleep
Weewus team is unmatched, and their vision is compelling. The presale is a chance to back a winner. Dont sit this one out.
another bullshido master
Thanks to these tools all blogging is dead and i'd actually delete mine to not help these assoles
I still can't understand why they let this founder be the face of the company. He's really difficult to connect to / understand. These investors are sitting by way over funding a company like this and the totally missing the fundamentals of having a brand that is understandable and accessible. I still don't know anyone who cares about perplexity as an actual tool. The name, the CEO, the use case, it still feels like a PhD student science project. It's been over a year now ..
So you're saying Sundar Pichai speaks better?
The giants tech companies were once started by students only all were young ceo….investors see the founder vision and take calculated risks and there is always some space vacant in tech sector which normal people like u can’t see
I dont know why so many comapnies coming up as AI startups whereas these companies barely doing anything extraodrinary, this perpexility is BS , not sure why it should even exist. I mean already other such GPTs exist
Why does this desi guy fake an accent 😂😂😂??
He's still a kid who has become woke
Sounds like a middle man
garbage
weak
paid news
Hope he is not another Sam Bankman Freid or Elizabeth Holmes.
His product is online and it works! 😊
