The Canon 135mm f2 is a great lens. For 3 years I use it now, and love it. In case of portraits the lens gives beautiful images, and is very sharp. I use the lens on my 6D II, and will keep using it.

One of the best lenses I own. Great for Weddings. Great portraits and sharp enough for longer shots that will be cropped. Love the character of the lens.

As I get back into Senior portrait photography, I will be using a 50mm f1.4, 100mm f.2, and this lens the 135 f.2. This lens is truly magical! This is the lens you pull out when you need to knock it out of the park!!
One you-tuber called it the "Lord Of The L Rings". I can't disagree.
    Thanks for posting!!

I pair this 135 with the 50mm 1.2 for a bokehlicious and reliable eye tracking combo on the r5 and r6 for portrait sessions and weddings.

Thanks for this review on the 135mm. There aren't many reviews on this great lens. I use mine for portraits and it creates great separation and bokeh!

Just bought this lens for my EOS R. Gonna use it to shoot 'portraits' of motorcycles and motorcycle riders. Interesting to see how it performs as the subject isolation is the main thing I'm looking for from this lens.

I bought this lens originally when I had the 6D and later the 5D MarkIV camera and specifically for shooting indoor events, such as rodeos. Since then, I have upgraded to the R5 and still find this lens to be absolutely wonderful. I have had the lens for 6 and a half years and, if memory serves. I paid around $700 used. Yes, I know there is an RF version, but honestly, this lens is sufficiently brilliant, especially for the price. I really have no great desire to "upgrade" to the RF version. This lens gets the job done and I have zero issues with it. Best bang for the buck lens I've ever had.

Appreciate these very specific insights. I shoot tons of indoor stuff and outdoor/night rodeo part of the year, so have been considering it. I've got a 70-200 though, but have move to all primes for the rest of my stuff.

Thanx for the video! I want to have this, to adapt to Lmount and pair with my s5ii. I think this will not be a lens which brings me money but a lot of fun.

Great review! Out of curiosity, what body did you use to shoot the video at 8:00 ? Did you shoot at 120fps and slow it down? Looks great!

May be one of the most underrated lens too

Great video, very high quality presentation. Think i'll try to snag one of these at a reasonable price given everyone is moving to rf. I have an eos r as well as an sl2, so I don't mind buying ef glass that enables me the possibility of using it on 2 bodies rather than 1.
    Cheers

This is by far the best lens I have. Stupid sharp even at f/2. and it produces incredible pictures. Given it was designed in the 90's it has held up very well over the years, even on newer cameras.

Thanks! great review as always. Do you reckon that the autofocus speed is comparable to the canon 70-200 f2.8 is ii?

I am a bit of a L Lens hoarder having the 50 and 85mm F1.2, 100mm Macro and 200mm F2.8 II and have just purchased the 135mm F2 , I do find the 85mm F1.2 quite sluggish auto focus annoying sometimes and tend to use it in manual focus, hoping the 135mm will give as good a Bokeh and rectify the Autofovus issues. Not received the lens yet but will update, great Review though 😀

I had the Canon EF 135mm 2.0 L, for many years this was the best 135mm Lens you could get, but today there are several performing better, but if you can find a used one to a good price it can still be a very good Lens.

Buying one today for around £300

    • @cameraprepper7938
      @cameraprepper7938 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@wasifshadman3381 Yes, the Canon EF 135mm 2.0 L often sells at a bit high prices, but if you really want it, then it is a good price. I think 300 are fair enough.
It is not as good as new 135mm Lenses fx Sony 135mm 1.8 GM and Samyang AF 135mm 1.8, but the Canon performs fine if you do not have a high megapixels Camera.

This lens is the best! I use combined with a 16-35mm so I have close ups and zoom shots. The only con for me is the ugly lens flare.
