The Montreal Botanical Garden (Jardin botanique de Montréal), one of the city's jewels, is recognized as one of the world's greatest botanical gardens. It offers a colourful program of events, exhibitions and activities in all season. With its collection of 22,000 plant species and cultivars, 10 exhibition greenhouses, and more than 20 thematic gardens spread out over 75 hectares, it's also a perfect place to enjoy fresh air and natural beauty.
Located just minutes from downtown Montreal, right near the Biodome and Olympic Park, the Montreal Botanical Garden is a living museum of plants from all over the world.
Among its 10 greenhouses and some thirty thematic gardens are Alpine Garden, The Aquatic Garden, Arboretum, Arid Regions Greenhouse, Chinese Garden, Food Garden, Japanese Garden, etc.
The Chinese garden is fabulous and surreal to walk through, with its exotic plants, bonsai trees and green ponds. The bonsai trees on display are hundreds of years old. The Japanese garden is also a delightful stroll through winding paths with streams, bridges and trees.

We love Jardins Botanique. We used to go there at least a couple times a year before the pandemic. With the border closed, it's been about 2 years since our last visit, and we miss it. Looks like they had stuff out for the Gardens of light again this year. If you haven't been for a night time walk when they have the Chinese, First Nations, and Japanese gardens all lit up, you should. Positively amazing!
