gothmoth I actually tried flipping it the after only 3 hours but it hurt way too much :| I’m not 100% sure how long I waited but I cleaned it almost every 3-4 hours the first 2 days and the second day it flipped with no problem. As long as you are cleaning it well enough routinely I don’t think it would be a problem, but ofc everyone is different
If you don’t want parents to know about it, you can flip it up immediately do it after getting pierced and you can actually leave it flipped up for the whole healing process
@@zanayahofland8632 I Know you said this a while ago but I had a friend to help me out so what I do is I push one side all the way up to one nostril and then you take the other side and push it up your nose and adjust from there
will it hurt once i flip it back down? I’m gonna try to hide mine from my parents but i’m scared i’m gonna get it infected and it’s gonna somehow mess up my nose

Hannah Omari that’s perfectly fine, a lot of people do that. You can search it up but I believe you’d have to keep it flipped up for about 6 months and then you can flip it whenever but I’d say don’t flip it too much until you’re sure it’s fully healed

@@alyzimmerman2137for it to not hurt at all, like it should, you need to find the sweet spot. Your piercer probably did it wrong or your nose isn’t qualified for a sweet spot septum. The only reason why it should it hurt is bc you have it in ur cartilage.

I literally just used this video to flip my piercing up for a job interview. By the way for those of us that have Jackson 5 nostrils 😂 vs narrow, it may be easier to semi-pinch your nose upward and then push the piercing inward. I tried this after 30 minutes of struggling and it worked perfectly!

@@jade-alexussantos5627 I read that if you're hiding it, you should just let it heal there, it shouldn't affect it long term. Also I flipped it right after getting it, just be prepared cause it will bleed a little the first day

I asked the manager before my interview if it is a problem if I have a septum, so I can take it out (or hide if it is haha). They said no, so I didn't have to hide, and got the job as well (it was a suprise cause it's an obersvatory). I can understand that some parents don't like it (mine neither) but this is your body, u can do whatever u want to. Don't be afraid to be your true self!
sadly some of us have rly tiny nostrils so for those of u struggling to flip it, either try stretching out the jewelry or getting a retainer than can stretch! these r things i wish i knew before getting my piercing, my mom just had to live with my piercing for 6 months cuz i just waited for it to heal before changing it into something small and easy on the eyes haha
I have this problem. I got mine pierced with a 10mm and there isn’t enough space for it to sit up comfortably so it falls down all the time. So I worked out I’m going to take the balls off and flip it because they add extra room and weight and that might help it stay flipped up. I hope this helps someone?

I noticed she mentioned she had this piercing at this time for 2 weeks. You actually dont want to make a habit of flipping it till its healed. If you have to work and hide it than flip it and keep it that way till its done healing or vise versa. Pick one and stick with it. Because if you keep flipping youll wear out the skin and Ive seen people rip that part of their nose. So lets not do that and keep it one way for a few months.
I just got a septum piercing today it was okay felt weird when he was putting in the needle he let me has a break because i was going white got the needle in the hole but i almost passed out he asked a nice lady to come in and get me water got a lollipop to help i was fine after a litte bit got it in when he put the jewellery in it didn't hurt other then the needle love it tho

Yes , this is good trick to keep septum piercing alive, if most of people remove it for few hours or days it block or some times recover by new skin. Then very different task to reinsert a septum stud into that, I also recommend this to hide in side , 100% hassle free 🤗

caitlin lloyd you can flip it up and down straight away (or at least I could anyway), so you can flip it up in school and down outside school, even on the first day of having it done :)

I flipped my piercing literally the day after getting it because I didn’t tell my mum I was getting it. It’s surprisingly easy to just flip it here there and everywhere
Hey, yeah, I wouldn't recommend doing what she did and flipping it after only 3 days. Just because she didn't get an infection doesn't mean someone else won't. If you expect to have to flip it up shortly after getting pierced, tell your piercer that you need it flipped for the healing process, and after a couple weeks at least then flip it down. This is not good advice from her, sorry. Still helpful video, because I was looking on how to flip a septum, but kind of bad advice.
Had one just like yours 9 years ago, i miss it. i used to flip it alot, but one time while it was flipped (i was skateboarding) took a big nose breath in, one of the balls got loose, and ent up inside my lungs, so make sure they are tight 😂😂 my one and only hospital stay, was under observation for 24hrs, docs was scratching their heads trying to figure out wether to operate or use tubes to get it out, Luckily for me i coughed the ball out myself. Still got the Xray on my wall lmao.

How has everyone’s septum piercing been during COVID? I want to get mine done but not sure how it will do with the mask. I work a lot and have to wear a mask for long periods of time.
Mine hurt for two days after getting it done and wearing a mask was a bit painful so i would recommend getting it when you have an option to stay home for few days
don’t flip it up after you pierce! it’s not good for the healing. wait a week or two to start trying to flip. the pain and swelling should go down by then
misinformation to the max 😭 if anything having it flipped up helps healing as it won’t be moving the way having it down would. you don’t need to have it down for it to heal i’ve been having mine up w the occasional flipping and it’s been healing just fine.

I got my septum pierced 3-4 days ago(and my mom-and my manager- actually DOES know lmfao) but wanted to flip it up because the ball ends that i got are (and the jewelry piece itself overall is) pretty large, so every time i’m sipping from a water bottle(single use plastic) or certain foods i try to eat and such i keep bonking my jewelry on it 😂 overall wouldn’t change a thing tho. i’ve had my septum pierced 3 times now and absolutely love it this time, so yeah, just flipped up for now so i dont keep hitting it and it can heal. On a scale of 1-10 pain wise, the septum piercing was like a 2. Easiest piercing I’ve EVER had.

My little brother goes to my school so I really hope he doesn’t snitch when I get it done. I’ll leave it up to heal and then when it’s done healing I’ll flip it whenever I want, and he’s not going to my school next year…but my older brother is glad we have masks so I can hide it.

i cant explain how helpful this was! i had to flip my septum for drill team photos and i was nervous at first to do it but after watching this i went in the mirror to try it and it was so easy!
I love how everyone in the comments is worried about their parents seeing they got a septum piercing but my mum and me just spontaneously decided to go get piercings together 😂😂

I asked the manager before my interview if it is a problem if I have a septum, so I can take it out (or hide if it is haha). They said no, so I didn't have to hide, and got the job as well (it was a suprise cause it's an obersvatory). I can understand that some parents don't like it (mine neither) but this is your body, u can do whatever u want to. Don't be afraid to be your true self!

sadly some of us have rly tiny nostrils so for those of u struggling to flip it, either try stretching out the jewelry or getting a retainer than can stretch! these r things i wish i knew before getting my piercing, my mom just had to live with my piercing for 6 months cuz i just waited for it to heal before changing it into something small and easy on the eyes haha
I have this problem. I got mine pierced with a 10mm and there isn’t enough space for it to sit up comfortably so it falls down all the time. So I worked out I’m going to take the balls off and flip it because they add extra room and weight and that might help it stay flipped up. I hope this helps someone?

I noticed she mentioned she had this piercing at this time for 2 weeks. You actually dont want to make a habit of flipping it till its healed. If you have to work and hide it than flip it and keep it that way till its done healing or vise versa. Pick one and stick with it. Because if you keep flipping youll wear out the skin and Ive seen people rip that part of their nose. So lets not do that and keep it one way for a few months.
I just got a septum piercing today it was okay felt weird when he was putting in the needle he let me has a break because i was going white got the needle in the hole but i almost passed out he asked a nice lady to come in and get me water got a lollipop to help i was fine after a litte bit got it in when he put the jewellery in it didn't hurt other then the needle love it tho

Yes , this is good trick to keep septum piercing alive, if most of people remove it for few hours or days it block or some times recover by new skin. Then very different task to reinsert a septum stud into that, I also recommend this to hide in side , 100% hassle free 🤗

caitlin lloyd you can flip it up and down straight away (or at least I could anyway), so you can flip it up in school and down outside school, even on the first day of having it done :)

I flipped my piercing literally the day after getting it because I didn’t tell my mum I was getting it. It’s surprisingly easy to just flip it here there and everywhere
Hey, yeah, I wouldn't recommend doing what she did and flipping it after only 3 days. Just because she didn't get an infection doesn't mean someone else won't. If you expect to have to flip it up shortly after getting pierced, tell your piercer that you need it flipped for the healing process, and after a couple weeks at least then flip it down. This is not good advice from her, sorry. Still helpful video, because I was looking on how to flip a septum, but kind of bad advice.

Had one just like yours 9 years ago, i miss it. i used to flip it alot, but one time while it was flipped (i was skateboarding) took a big nose breath in, one of the balls got loose, and ent up inside my lungs, so make sure they are tight 😂😂 my one and only hospital stay, was under observation for 24hrs, docs was scratching their heads trying to figure out wether to operate or use tubes to get it out, Luckily for me i coughed the ball out myself. Still got the Xray on my wall lmao.
I literally was like "hmm,I feel like giving myself a septum piercing.." AND I DID IT. took an hour and a half (it's my first) but it worked! Now it's 1:36 am and I need.. to FLIP it cause if my parents find out I'm getting whooped

Mine hurt for two days after getting it done and wearing a mask was a bit painful so i would recommend getting it when you have an option to stay home for few days

don’t flip it up after you pierce! it’s not good for the healing. wait a week or two to start trying to flip. the pain and swelling should go down by then
misinformation to the max 😭 if anything having it flipped up helps healing as it won’t be moving the way having it down would. you don’t need to have it down for it to heal i’ve been having mine up w the occasional flipping and it’s been healing just fine.
@@zzz-ir7fv even flipping mine up occasionally, i got an irritation bump n almost n infection. an my piercer told my to not flip (move in general unless for cleaning) as much as possible. and i said to wait a week or two after getting it to flip lol i never said to never flip it

I got my septum pierced 3-4 days ago(and my mom-and my manager- actually DOES know lmfao) but wanted to flip it up because the ball ends that i got are (and the jewelry piece itself overall is) pretty large, so every time i’m sipping from a water bottle(single use plastic) or certain foods i try to eat and such i keep bonking my jewelry on it 😂
overall wouldn’t change a thing tho. i’ve had my septum pierced 3 times now and absolutely love it this time, so yeah, just flipped up for now so i dont keep hitting it and it can heal.
