  • "Beliefs Matter: Real-World Implications of Individual and Organizational Mindsets"
The far-reaching impact of Professor Carol Dweck’s research on how our beliefs shape our success means that many leaders already value a growth mindset. Yet organizations still create cultures of genius, where talent is valued above all else--rather than cultures of development that reward dedication and smart risk-taking. In this conversation with Professor Angela Duckworth, Carol Dweck shares why “talent” is a dangerous word, and explains recent research on how organizational mindsets can override our personal beliefs, making the case for why culture must be perpetually renewed.
    Speakers:
    - Angela Duckworth, CEO of Character Lab and Author of Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance
    - Carol Dweck, Lewis & Virginia Eaton Professor of Psychology at Stanford University
The 2022 Wharton Future of Work Conference, hosted by Wharton People Analytics, brought together a slate of speakers to consider the questions of how, where, and when we work. Learn more: whr.tn/futureofwork

I am so happy to see these discussions focusing on the impact culture has on group- and individual-level behaviors and the power of culture to promote or diminish a growth mindset. As a sociologist, we have been having these conversations for some time and I am so pleased to see them continued and promoted as you have. Thank you.

When Microsoft made the cultural shift, the managers that were "shaking the talent trees" found that the different teams were withholding their technology advances from each other. They had been holding onto advanced and mature pieces of technology that weren't being shared mainly for ego reasons. Their Windows products and their other hardware products got so much better after instituting the collaborative approach.

Thank you both very much for you way of dealing with Talent and Giftedness, I have my own definition of Talent as Giftedness or Talent: The possession of special potential in a subject that has no scientific pillars.
