I grew up on a horse/cow farm- it’s the sole reason I attribute my ability to dig deep, find a way over every obstacle especially because my work at the very foundation gave the animals a quality of life.
I like Simon, but here (especially in the first 10 minutes) I thought he came across like all he wanted was for Angela to agree with things he’s well known for saying, and I thought it was a little ironic to talk about people (“the country”) not listening to each other, immediately after he talked over Angela, changed topic, and stopped her from making the point she was trying to make (at the 9:30 mark)
Agreed, that rubbed me the wrong way a bit. Seemed like he jumped directly into "I'm right, help me show everyone why I'm right", rather than listen to an actual expert.
Everyone wants people to agree with them. I think he speaks this way because he respects Angela and he expects people to speak up if they disagree just like Simon is happy to do.
Thank you Simon. This hits home to me. I got goosebumps from this podcast. It makes sense of why I encounter myself where I am and even explains my why.
Building mental toughness is as important as going to the gym and exercising. I heard that comfort does not make us truly happy. Yes in the moment there is the illusion of happiness, but longterm not getting outside our comfort zone makes us feel unfulfilled, empty, guilty, a lack of significance and purpose. We must constantly test ourselves in some capacity. For everyone the level will be different. Tough minds are prepared for tough decisions and situations. I encourage people to exercise their mental fortitude daily. Never stop.
Simon, I love your thoughts and insights, but in this episode it felt like you were talking more than you should have been listening. I was here to listen to your questions and Angela's answers. But I kept hearing your answers and Angela's 'hmm yeah, I see'.
I thought it was pretty ironic that around the nine minute mark Simon interrupts Duckworth to make the point that we are not very good at listening . . .
Why is he always interrupting her 😤 he's the one always talking about how important it is to listen to people. But in this interview it seems like it is more important to him to be right than to hear her point of view.
A man that can not eat from the sources' table of life and also suffer, endure, have character and hope will continue to ask for the wrong thing like I did in the past. It took a pandemic to learn how to change one to appease the one I do not see but keeps me alive via the parables of the Holy Bible.
The story about your cousin looking at you before deciding on his response to falling is so relatable 😅 I teach dance to children 6 and over and they do the exact same thing... they'll be playing during breaktime, fall and then look at me before deciding whether to cry or continue playing with their friends 😂 Most will keep playing, but some get very confused when all I say is "careful, the floor won't move when you fall over and it's pretty hard." Except for one kid... she bumped her knee one time when the parents hadn't even finished dropping off their kids yet, but despite there being many eyes no-one had seen it happen... She came over to me, claiming her knee hurt. It wasn't scraped, bruised, red or in any way clear that she'd hurt it, but I've seen people with a broken leg limp less than this kid! She shouldn't be in dance, she should be in acting for that performance 😂 Because she was limping so bad I did sit her down and checked for any potential injuries just to be completely sure, but she was fine as expected. I'm still not entirely sure if she truly bumped her knee somewhere, or made it up for attention, but I also feel I can't take that risk even if I know the child well. I'm not the type to run over and pick them up before anything happened, but if they claim to be hurt even if they seem fine I will check. This way I'm sure to find out if something is actually wrong and if not I'll have avoided an angry parent 🙃

I love grit survival, nature versus nurture. There are also root cause factors we generationally take on and can then pass onto our kids that must be considered & the boy/girl factors 😊👍
It's the principle of science not to take credit from someone else's work - so, actually, - they kind of have to mention it - if they know it. That's like rules of 'being part of academic field' - and it's those peoples lifelyhood. It brings food on their table - so why to risk it, - for an argument?
Hi! I recommend that to put down the naiive thinking that like public transportation inside big cities would be something like 'stenghtening experience'. I have use it a lot, and it's sad, what I have seen. I am not a first or the second to get victimised, but mostly like most of the girls end upp going the wrong seats in front, - for the headphones on -, maybe to not get victimised so easily from some idiot who is going to sit next to. It's sad, and I live in a smart city, in a very smart country. The front seets are for elderly and disabled - ment for. You can't really be 100 % sure, on what you sit in, the seats, - but you have to take the 'superposition' - the seat that is best available. And you don't need more than one a 'black hole' -passenger, to among many, to ruin maybe some part of your day. 💞
Yes, Miss Angela probably didn't even know that one of her German National Soccer Team players has invested in a SPAC listed on NASDAQ in San Francisco and another one launched a VC fund in San Francisco and another one meant to take over as coach a soccer management company on the US east coast. And she probably still thinks that Evans is the only sports marketing company on the planet and doesn't have any competitors that worked with freelancers for European soccer leagues and world cups. etc.etc. etc.
This one didn't resonate well for me because there were many statements made as factual without data to back them up. For example, what is the data showing the degree to which the younger generation has less grit? What about the % of parents that ask their child's employer about a promotion? How do you measure whether a child is coddled or not? What % parents then coddle? Last, is coddling a correlation or causation of higher levels of anxiety, depression or (God forbid) suicide? I didn't get a bit of optimism in this one however I appreciate the effort.
I feel a large portion is over-protection/over parenting. Let them earn some scars. They will be good reminders of how tough they actually are, and dont do dumb shit. Keep them away from the real dangers, by setting a good example
No, it was Columbine. Columbine scared parents enough to buy all of their children new iPhones. Before that, parents had some level of modicum in understanding not every 7 year old needed access to the grid.

The Jews fast 5 times a year and they are very smart and knowledgeable with it too. No wonder they come up with mindsets do hard to grasps by the normal or average mind.
Yep. The religion system of jewismish - I don't think I know the right word - is very admirable. It's based on infinite game - not to be victims - to be smart survivors. Christianity is in some way - to my opinion - some way lenghtening the way the Roman society constructed. To strenghten that kind of way of living.
If you kind of would hate him, it would be actually reasonable then also watch his videos too. But I like him as well! A suberb thinker - easy and pleasent to follow his argumentation! If you would hate him, by observing what he says you could form an argument against him 😆
Love your work, Simon. Disappointed that you interrupted Angela so much.

Shut up and let her speak Simon

Duck-face Angela 😁😁😆
What's wrong with you, can ya just stop giving those comments of yours. if you're not interested just don't watch it.
@@syedamusfikarahman1619 I will stop watching after he stops making these crack videos
@J H No I don't hate Simon, if I hate him why would I watch his videos.........its dumb to consider that I hate him
If you kind of would hate him, it would be actually reasonable then also watch his videos too. But I like him as well! A suberb thinker - easy and pleasent to follow his argumentation!
If you would hate him, by observing what he says you could form an argument against him 😆
@@mietonen You are a genius is only what I can say to you 🤭🤭😆🤣🤣
