For those who want to go for Darkrai in gen 4, please note that it probably won't make it through Poke Transporter. Event legendaries obtained in Diamond and Pearl via the void glitch don't have their event flags set (the events never being released in those games), so they won't get through. The only ones I've heard that might get through are ones from Platinum in which the event items have been properly hacked in and used.

Under Wraps was dope! Old school shout out! BTW, yesterday I got a shiny Cyndaquil on Silver after 1564 SR on actual hard copy GBC! Traded it to Crystal to SR Gold and Silver for Chikorita next. Then Totodile. My gen one shiny Dex is almost completed and I haven't even started breeding yet. Unfortunately my 3DS got demolished but I still have a DS Lite and a DSi along with Platinum, Emerald, and all six of the first two gens with two Gameboy Colors. My shiny hunting is currently a combination of gen one (for high level shiny hunts) and gen two for low level first gen Pokémon and the second gen Pokémon. I am accounting for later evolutions, however. It feels awesome hunting in these old games. Just recently installed new save batteries in them all too.
So far this October I got Giratina from the distortion world (which was a reclaim!) random encounter zubat & golbats from the cemetery & mart and SOS gastly, misdreavus & drifloon.... currently going for SR Spritomb in platinum! Love this list :]

How about swarm hunting shuppet in route 13? If you repel trick with a level 50 Pokemon then you can also get an absol, or Golbat, and they are pretty spooky.
I think Cubone should also be an option because it's backstory is pretty dark and it looks like he's just wearing a skull for Halloween but there's more behind it

I know this comment is late, but I just thought it'd be fun to share all the Halloween hunt ideas I came up with. I'm a Masuda Method hunter myself, mind you, so not sure how feasible some of these hunts are, but I just had fun lining up a bunch of potential targets for myself. Also, another note: I made massive stretches with these whenever and wherever possible, because I didn't want to just stick myself to only Ghost types and spooky Pokemon. First up was Pumpkaboo, a no brainer because it's a jack-o-lantern. Next was Mimikyu, which is an obvious choice. It's a trick or treater in a Pikachu costume. Swirlix was third because it represents the candy you get from trick or treating. Trubbish was an idea a friend gave me, and it represents a candy bag you carry the candy around it, with Garbodor being a step further by being a candy bag that ripped and everything fell out. I said I made sure these were stretches for a reason. Karrablast and Shelmet were next also on the trick or treater idea. Gastly was my next target because... Well, I did pick a few ghosts I wanted to go for just because of ghosts. Klefki was a meme hunt entirely because of the Dex entries describing it as jingling its keys to scare people. Rotom was another ghost I wanted to go for just because of being a cool ghost. Also, got mine in 27 eggs, which was crazy, only because of the next hunt and how I got Rotom right after Klefki at 255 eggs. And Cacnea was my last successful hunt in October being a scarecrow when it evolves and just one of my favorite Pokemon from the Hoenn anime. And the kicker was I got my Cacnea in 9 eggs same day as I got Klefki and Rotom... though the morning after, as I got the first two very late at night and had to hold off on working on Cacnea for sleep. And the best part was all three were obtained late Thursday night into Friday morning. Meaning I got 3 Shinies on Mario Odyssey's release. Which was awesome. And for the ones I didn't get, my little story of my insane luck out of the way... Noibat I'm currently working on because bats. And it also kinda looks like a gargoyle, but mostly the bat thing. Paras is basically a zombie as a Parasect. Misdreavus as Mismagius looks like a witch, so I included it for that reason over just being a ghost. Duskull was included because of resembling a skeleton and later on a Grim Reaper. Murkrow is there for the obvious, being a crow and all. Grimer was included because of the old movie monster The Blob. Never watched it, but I'm enough into pop culture to have it considered. Zorua is there for another costumed Pokemon. Magnemite is there because as a Magnezone, it's a UFO, and aliens are movie monstery enough in my book to include them. They may not be a Halloween symbol, but they're definitely sci-fi monsters often enough. And lastly, Litwick was chosen for being a cool ghost. So that was all of my targets for October and Halloween, obtained or otherwise. Maybe some of these gave someone ideas in the future? If so, have fun with them however you hunt for them!
Also, as a follow up, I also thought of Thanksgiving themed hunts for throughout November, and wanted to share them, even if they're not nearly as deeply thought out and bizarre as my Halloween hunts. Swalot, Snorlax, Lickitung, Sharpedo, and Krookodile are all on the docket because either they're known to eat a lot, Swalot being a stomach and Snorlax and Lickitung just being known big eaters, or would presumably be big eaters because of their real life species being vicious predators in the case of Sharpedo and Krookodile. Tsareena, Cherrim, and Farfetch'd all were picked because I wanted to include some Pokemon tied to food because of Thanksgiving dinner. Nosepass and Happiny are there to represent the extended family you see on Thanksgiving, either grandparents or aunts and uncles, since Probopass has that big, bushy mustache like uncles and grandpas and Blissey just looks like a friendly aunt/grandma. And Dodrio was included to represent family bickering since, much as families love each other, they also fight. Especially over food. :P Sableye, Weavile, Hypno, and Larvitar are all included because they have Pokedex entries that stick out in my mind based on eating. Sableye eats gems, Weavile as Sneasel eats Pidgey eggs, Hypno eats dreams, and Larvitar eats mountains. And Passimian is on the list for football games played on Thanksgiving. I wanted to have Thanksgiving themed hunts for November, too, since it fits in with Halloween and Christmas as a bit of a trio of Holidays, and I didn't want it to be left out with Spoopy Hunts and Festive Chrimmas Hunts. Hope someone gets ideas from these, too. =3

I have been trying to hatch a Shiny Noibat. I have 25 boxes full of purple Noibats. So I tried your method in Terminus cave. After 6 soft resets... I got a shiny Aridos. Just got to keep trying. Thank you for the tip!
Last year during Halloween I found three Shinys a rowlet then a few days later a trevanaunt now open till this point they’ve all been ghost type and on Halloween night just as I got back from trick-or-treating I decided to do a little bit of hunting and I found alolan executor which is the depryest Pokémon in existence.
here’s a fun, masochistic hunt for Halloween: Murkrow (FireRed) and Misdreavus (LeafGreen) in that cave near Five Island (the Lost Woods-style one where you meet Selphie). not only do you have to navigate all the way to the bottom floor, but they’re also really rare.
The Mewtwo one was very out of place and a bit of a stretch imo. Could have easily been replaced by some other hunt like the haunted supermarket in Sun and Moon and the cute little Mimikyu.
I got a Shiny Honedge last month to celebrate Halloween in Pokémon Sun by Island Scan and I think as a Pokémon in general, it's very fitting for Halloween because it's ghost type and a bloody blade.
Great choices for hunts Dallas! You can call me crazy but I don't think that Duskull and Sableye are going to be the only shinies that can be found. I do believe that Shuppet will be able to be found shiny but it's just a stretch. I do agree that Niantic using shinies the way they are is not alright but in my mind, i'm like "At least we have shinies now finally. Just wish they would just release all of them now though"
I'm late, but I'm most definitely hunting Spiritomb for Halloween next year if I can remember. Spiritomb is such a badass shiny. Probably Masuda in Black 2 and White 2.

You can get Darkrai by doing the tweaking glitch. Only do it in Pearl though. If you mess it up, it will mess your savefile up, so try not to. It's a glitch! Not a hack!! So, dont worry. It's not that difficult to glitch.
I actually use Masuda method due to the fact that I want them to have stats and natures to be competitive, so I didn't use these methods, but I've had a lot of success this month for Halloween. I got Duskull (my 3rd so I can have 1 of each form), and then I got male Frillish, female Frillish, Shuppet, and Gothita. Since I finished all those hunts before Halloween, I started another hunt last night: Vullaby. I already have most ghosts shiny, so I did a couple non-ghosts for variety. I doubt I get Vullaby before Halloween ends, but we'll see.
i did 3 halloween hunts (i think im gonna do litwick now :D) : sandygast, shuppet, and phantump. i also failed my shiny giratina (kind of).. my file got corrupted LITERALLY a few hours after i got it. i hadnt even taken pictures of it ):

There's actually a 15 minute route (I did it the other day and had no problems). I'm pretty sure it's also the safer of the two routes so it's a win-win situation.(This is the link to the video if you want to see it th-cam.com/video/rU7V1fEEwuo/w-d-xo.html ) I did the 3 hour version like 6 months ago and had a lot of trouble with it so good on you for getting there no problems.

Wat about Lost Tower in Pokemon DPP, diamond and pearl you can get Zubat Gastly and Murkrow D Misdreavus P. And for platinum Zubat Gastly and Duskull. Duskull Murkrow Misdreavus only at night.
Been binge watching your videos to learn more about shiny hunting and unfortunately some of these don't translate to BDSP so will have to break out Platinum for it.
Actually started my Halloween hunt in September and been looking for a shiny Zubat, and I'm at 11,000 encounters it's my longest hunt ever and I love hate it.
I've been hunting for shiny Shaymin on Platinum for seventeen days and done at least 21,000 run aways. Should I keep pushing until I get it, or take a break and hunt something else for a bit?
Huh, it's kind funny.... While I don't think I found it in October. I actually did accidentally find a Shiny Rotom in Platinum. Sadly, its nature wasn't very good.... For some reason, I decided to name it "Hades", and make it a Heat Rotom.

Weird, I tried hunting for it & on serebii it said it was locked. I might try for it in my japanese pearl when I get a chance too. Right now I'm hunting for any shiny in Moon [which is my main 7th/current gen game]. I was lucky & pokenav a shiny Zorua in AS bout a year ago & I was happy to get her too. I also play Pogo [Pkmn Go] & haven't found any shiny's [not even the darn Magikarp] as of yet...but I did get one in Magikarp Jump, yeah it's the shiny Magikarp. Mum got me a copy of Crystal for Xmas [which I'll need to wait in order to test to see if the battery's still working after 15+ years], I might try for the starters, ok just 1 starter which is going to be Chikorita & work my way from there if I end up getting it.

Yeah it’s a great Pokémon but also extremely low percentage so not worth putting on the list.

I don't know about you, but I don't really like breeding for shinies. Catching a wild one just appeals to me more. Also, I find breeding boring.

Great choices for hunts Dallas! You can call me crazy but I don't think that Duskull and Sableye are going to be the only shinies that can be found. I do believe that Shuppet will be able to be found shiny but it's just a stretch. I do agree that Niantic using shinies the way they are is not alright but in my mind, i'm like "At least we have shinies now finally. Just wish they would just release all of them now though"
I'm late, but I'm most definitely hunting Spiritomb for Halloween next year if I can remember. Spiritomb is such a badass shiny. Probably Masuda in Black 2 and White 2.

You can get Darkrai by doing the tweaking glitch. Only do it in Pearl though. If you mess it up, it will mess your savefile up, so try not to. It's a glitch! Not a hack!! So, dont worry. It's not that difficult to glitch.
Ghost type is my favorite!
Personally I'm going for Aron because of its red bloody eyes and Ho oh because of its fall colors but I might do a ghost type

I actually use Masuda method due to the fact that I want them to have stats and natures to be competitive, so I didn't use these methods, but I've had a lot of success this month for Halloween. I got Duskull (my 3rd so I can have 1 of each form), and then I got male Frillish, female Frillish, Shuppet, and Gothita. Since I finished all those hunts before Halloween, I started another hunt last night: Vullaby. I already have most ghosts shiny, so I did a couple non-ghosts for variety. I doubt I get Vullaby before Halloween ends, but we'll see.
Wow, it was a little after midnight, but I already got the shiny Vullaby! Now to figure out what to hunt next.

Personally i think that throughout October there should be a shiny hunting event where you hunt only Ghost and Dark types.

I was lucky & pokenav a shiny Zorua in AS bout a year ago & I was happy to get her too.
I also play Pogo [Pkmn Go] & haven't found any shiny's [not even the darn Magikarp] as of yet...but I did get one in Magikarp Jump, yeah it's the shiny Magikarp.
