We, my wife and I, have found your videos very interesting and informative. The information you provided was very helpful while we visited Switzerland for 11 days in September. Your hints at money saving tips, the introduction to COOP and Migros stores, and the use of the train system greatly reduced the stress of visiting a new country. Thank you for all the hard work you put into these videos, they were very appreciated.
My wife and I did two weeks in Switzerland with your guys help. The trail from Murren to Gimmelwald was so scenic and the farm fridges made it better ❤
What a stunning hike - this will have to go on my bucket list (I wonder if Switzerland will let me stay for 6 months 😜) I love the little restaurants and guest houses that you can find at the quietest places!
Stunning!!! We had heard from locals about this hike during our trip in July, sadly, the weather wasn’t good enough for us to try this hike when we were there, but next time for sure! ❤❤
TH-cam needs a three thumbs up button. Loved this video!!! (So I give you three exclamation points :) ) Like you, I've been to this area a good number of times and knew you could go further than Gimmelwald & Stechelberg but have never been. The views are awesome. The inclines are a bit too much for me so I thoroughly enjoyed hiking vicariously with you. (Have you taken the hike down from Gimmelwald to Stechelberg? As I can go downhill without difficulty I've often wondered about that hike.)
Aww thank you so much for the 👍👍👍! 🥰 Yes we’ve taken that walk down from Gimmelwald to Stechelberg and it’s very nice, although not necessarily with panoramic views. It’s fun to end in Stechelberg to sit at the restaurant there!
So beautiful. We are too old to do this one, so it was so nice to see this on video. But you are right, it is like you go to the Pension Gimmelwald and then get back on the gondola. Maybe we will look for the path and just try to do a little walking through that valley. Thanks.
The Valley below Gimmelwald would be a lovely place to walk! So quiet, right along the river, and hardly any people. It’s a bit steep to get there from the village, but you can take your time! 😊
This looks like an absolutely gorgeous hike! I just want to thank you both again for all your informative videos. I based a lot of my recent Swiss vacation itinerary and travel habits (ie: downloading the SBB app) on your advice and not only had a wonderful time, but felt less stressed and confused than I otherwise would have. Gimmelwald had some of my favorite views of the entire trip, so I especially appreciate your tips on visiting that stunning village.
It is absolutely stunning! Thanks so much for sharing your experience with us. Our goal is to help people confidently travel Switzerland so it's always good to hear about experiences just like yours!
Awesome video!! Not sure about those steep, and slippery rocks for me, but continuing on the path from the hotel looks amazing for our next visit!! Thank you for sharing this hike!!
We're so glad you could tell which sections you want to hike and don't want to hike based off of our video. That's part of what we hoped to accomplish!
Love that this has been on your bucket list too! It was on ours for a few years before we finally made it happen 😊 Hope you get to visit Obersteinberg soon!
My wife and I did this hike in June, from Murren all the way down and all the way up AND BACK. It was hot and humid and it-was-brutal! But it was so worth it. Getting to the top of Tanzbodeli was a little bit sketch, like you said, but doable. People do need to be prepared for this hike, especially in summer. Swiss mountains are no joke!
Yes....hard but doable! But hikers do need to know their limits. So glad you and you're wife were able to experience this hike. I'm curious if you would do it again, knowing what you know now?:)
One more thing. The trial from Tanzbodeli to Obersteinberg has a very dangerous drop off that could be fatal if you slip! Not kidding. I did this entire hike in one day from Sechingberg to Gimmelwald 2 weeks ago. One slip on that part of the trial could be your last step. Be aware!!
Yes! Hikers need to always be aware of any trail their on and to also know their own limits. The views are stunning but you have to work hard (and carefully) for them!
my girlfriend and i just hiked this trail last week! absolutely insane views. from murren to tanzbodeli back down to stechelberg. most difficult thing we have ever done.
Hi Jack, thanks for the heads up! I think what you're seeing is just the normal price difference in the Summer pass compared to the Winter Pass (it's probably more expensive just because less places are open in the Winter). But we'll look into it!!
Great video. My husband loves hiking and we hope to visit Switzerland someday so I love your videos and newsletters. Jana, if you don’t mind me asking, what brand of sunglasses are you wearing in this video? They look really good for outdoor activities.
Hi there! We really don't know the rules about drones. There are definitely areas where they aren't allowed, but you might be able to find more info on myswitzerland.com or one of the websites for the region.
Great question! You could go from Gimmelwald to the Tanzbödeli and then back to Gimmelwald. But that would honestly take the same amount of time as going to the Tanzbödeli, then to Obersteinberg (which you directly pass along the trail), and then down to Stechelberg. We'd prefer the second option just to see different things along the way. Plus you could stop at Obersteinberg for a lunch or snack!
Since the hotel doesn’t have electricity to recharge our devices and we use our phones for filming, we turned off cell service. So I’m not even sure about that, sorry!
I've never seen you ski before. The next time you're in the region between December and March, I'd love to invite you. Feel free to contact me, winter opens up a whole new perspective on the Jungfrau Region.
You're so kind! We only publish content for places/experiences we done before, and last year was our first Winter here. We tried out a bunch of activities and took a few courses too (we didn't grow up with snow so we don't know how to ski/snowboard). We're hoping to do more this winter but we'll have to see how that goes with a newborn baby joining our family! :)

@@AplinsintheAlpsBret, you are correct, trails like this one will never see that many people on it because of the difficulty. My wife and I are from Wisconsin and look forward to our every other year trip to Switzerland, just for the hiking, no more cities for us just small villages. Last trip we did most of our hikes out of Grindelwald with a few recommendations from you two, our next trip is hiking out of the Lauterbrunnen Valley and definitely will look into this hike. Although we are pushing 62 we have start thinking about what our limitations are. Thanks for you videos!

Hey, there are ways!!
Very nice throughout my friends all the best thumbs up cheers 👉🏻👉🏻👍🏻👍🏻🤗🤗
Thank you!!
Thank you!
I went to Mürren last month after seeing your videos, gonna have to go here whenever I go back. Really helpful guides!
3:24 'there is nothing but us' 😂 at this point showing a group of people lol 😆
So glad you enjoyed Mürren last month! Thanks for trusting our advice and guides 🙂
Love the idea of car free towns and villages.
Me too! It's really kind of amazing!

The weather definitely makes a difference! Guess you’ll just have to return again one day for this hike 😊🙃
This was a great video. So beautiful - thanks for sharing
You're welcome! Thanks for letting us know you enjoyed it.
definitely doing it again this way in the summer
Hope you will!

In case you are unaware, the Tell Pass is taking a price increase on April 1 of next year. A 10 day pass is going up $80 ($340 instead of $260).

Thanks for following along, we’re happy to help! My sunglasses are so old but I think I got them from H&M yearssss ago!
Hi! What is Brett’s blue hoodie? Thx
Hi there! It's from a brand called Huk, but unfortunately that's all we remember!!
3:51 Are drones permissible in this particular area? I’ve looked into different areas I would be permitted to flying mine on a potential future trip!
We're not sure if drones are permitted there. We don't have one so we've never really looked into it.

how long ago was this? it was definitely more brown grass last week
We recorded this in August
This was in late July/early August
Can you skip Obersteinberg on this hike to save time/milage if doing this as a day hike?

This is not one day old. The hotel is closed. How do I know? I was really there.
The video was published one day ago, but we went there in the end of August 2024!
Stop overtourism.
Define please?
This particular trail is not overrun, at least not yet.
It's partially why we try to share more places like this. We saw very few people on most sections of this trail.
