As you might have guessed, I decided to do the full episode on Tuesday this week, and the short episode on Thursday. Back to normal schedule next week -- I have a couple of things that I want to explore about the Apostle Judas!
My wife and I converted to Catholicism in 2023. I was baptized and she was confirmed at the Easter Vigil. Mike Gendron's lies nearly tore our family apart. My mother was concerned about us becoming Catholic so she sought council from her SBC pastor. He gave her a copy of Mike's book which she read, took as absolute truth, and then gave to me. The distrust/fear sown by that book nearly wrecked our entire relationship. Thanks be to God we are talking again and spending family time together, but there is still a healthy amount of tension that I attribute directly to the fear and division stirred up by Mike Gendron's outright lies (because really who can do this for 30+ years and still be given the benefit of the doubt on ignorance). Thank you for taking the time to address him. His arguments are bad... almost so bad that they are difficult and painful to take the time to thoroughly address. They're low hanging fruit but they have poisoned God knows how many Catholics who didn't know any better.
@@_ready__ Look man. Please spare me the tract/rehearsed verses today. I don't have the time or the energy to go back and forth. Do yourself a favor and just pick one topic on which you disagree with the Catholic church and give both sides a fair shake. I'd recommend baptism as a starting point since (and forgive me if I am misjudging) you're likely from a denomination that denies baptismal regeneration or even the outright necessity of it in normal circumstances. Read the scritural cases for the view of the Church and your view and think about it for a minute. At the very least you will find the Church has a highly plausible (it's way better but I am trying to be conservative) Biblical case for what she believes about Baptism. After that, take a look at the historic Christian belief surrounding baptism and ask yourself this question: "If both of these cases could be made from the Bible, and all of these Christians for 1500 years believed in this one case, then what authority do I have to believe otherwise?" Take that one case and see if you can honestly say the Church is definitely wrong about it before you get back to me. With any luck, and a lot of grace, I hope that you see that the Church is right about that one point. After that, I pray you'll be willing to begin engaging on other topics in an open minded fashion. Thanks and have a nice day. Reminder: I have no intention of responding to tractapalooza or any sort of Bible verse slinging contest today. I may consider replying back if you can demonstrate that you have interest in making an honest study of a subject like the one I mentioned. Until then, there is no good in us talking past eachother.
Allie Beth Stuckey continues to prove just how anti-Catholic she is. She has hosted Trent on her podcast and talked to other Catholic apologists who have since explained these concepts to her. Why did she not push back and ask this man where he is getting his claims?
I stopped watching her podcast, especially after she said not very nice things about Saints. I’m wondering if the time came would she be willing to be beheaded for Jesus?
As someone who did not grow up catholic but is now a Catholic convert I can attest to the huge level of misinformation being believed about the Catholic church. I had soooooo many misconceptions that my mother had said throughout the years. It wasn't until going through RCIA that I learned all those misconceptions were wrong. I'm so grateful that God led me to the Catholic church because I feel like I am home! ❤
I grew up Catholic, and of course was an Atheist, until becoming a Christian after becoming an adult. I repeat: If "Catholicism" wasn't such a convoluted bunch of weirdness and superfluous meanderings demanded to be believed as religious authoritarian rule, it may not be derided by those that just want to follow Christ Jesus as He taught us to follow Him.
I’ve lost my respect of Allie having him on her show and not pushing back on facts that she’s been already told. This reveals she is intellectually dishonest. I can respect people who I disagree with but I cannot support dishonesty. I’m no longer supporting her until she proves a change of heart.
Ms. Stuckey seems to be an authentic Christian. Hence your need to insult her. She is anything but anti-intellectually dishonest. If "Catholicism" wasn't such a convoluted bunch of weirdness and superfluous meanderings demanded to be believed as religious authoritarian rule, it may not be derided by those that just want to follow Christ Jesus as He taught us to follow Him.
@@ChristoverMarxfortheWinYou must feel very threatened and curious about Catholicism to copy and paste the same comment on multiple posts! I used to be anti-Catholic too. You should try reading the Catechism or do more of your own research. Jesus is calling you to the church He established (the Catholic Church).
Mike Gendron needs to be reminded that by continuing to lie after he has been corrected, he is bearing false witness, that is, directly violating one of the ten commandments.
Apparently someone investigated public records in Texas, and it looks like he is civilly divorced from a, I presume, Church marriage. His wife's name is Janice, he divorced her in 1982 after 13 years of marriage, and he "married" his current wife Mary J. Aragon in 1984. He claimed he left the Church in 1984. Pretty telling, isn't it?
New Catholic here. Converted at 62. Protestant me gobbled up this kind of thing. I can’t say for sure why I had so much hatred and suspicion for the Church. I was the poster boy for bigotry through ignorance. Looking back I really can’t say why I did this. Maybe this a form of possession.
32 yo and a new convert this year. I was lukewarm in the Christian faith until recently. I also remember around late high school and in undergrad years of college just having this almost hatred, maybe it was hatred, of the Catholic Church. Literally for no reason. I think I was just anti-authority and the CC just seemed like a big corrupt institution that I should just talk junk on for no reason. No clue why I thought that way or would sometimes talk about the church in that way when I knew nothing about the church.
As a neutral atheist I'll chime in. During Allie Beth Stuckey's conversation with Trent Horn she had a good understanding of the theological issues of the argument. In Stuckey's conversation with Mike Gendron she seems to have conveniently forgotten her theological understanding. Stuckey has selective amnesia.
@@JoAnnFuir I try to be honest. I also honestly think both Stuckey and Gendron are seriously mistaken in their Christian beliefs. The Christian Faith is a man made religion based on a lie for the purposes of profit and prestige.

The Lord is working on Allie Beth. I think having Gendron on was a desperate attempt to stay Protestant. I also think she was surprised by the comments, that they were respectful and speaking of being sad for him, but called out his lies. Praying for her! 🙏. This was perfect.
@@kdublock I could be very wrong about that, but it just feels like that’s the case. Too much agreeing with Theology of the Body more than with Protestants… too much Trent Horn and George Farmer making too much sense… too many knowledgeable Catholic followers in her comments being respectful but firm on the truth…. Probably a lot for her, but that’s what I’ve been seeing following her. She probably felt the need for a Protestant re-set but I don’t think if she’s intellectually honest this was helpful for that!
I was once an “ex Catholic “ in an Evangelical church. Ex Catholics are the worst general in my humble opinion, I speak from sad experience. B/c they spread untruths, they had little understanding of the faith in the first place and bought into the false information preached in Evangelical churches. I came home in 2000 by the grace of God. My eyes were opened to the Hoky Eucharist! Even though I still had issues with some teachings I knew it was akin to spiritual suicide to stay away from Jesus Christ in Holy Communion. That would be ridiculous to say the least. As for all the other “stuff “ I had problems with, I read, prayed, researched and found the absolute truth about each doctrine and the Catholic faith as a whole was beautiful. I think it’s especially horrible that this person spreads lies and others gobble it up without really looking into history and truth!
Welcome back! The fact that these people are making so many videos and podcasts attacking the Church, is because they feel threatened by how many people are coming Home to the Truth.
I agree. Former Catholics can seem like post-abortive women who haven't healed. Not a complete analogy, but there are huge blind spots. They need to justify their decision.
I've noticed that many Catholics don't seem to understand the purpose of some Church traditions, but not sure I've met an ex-Catholic(most return). --I think it's wonderful to go out to other Christian denominations; to see the differences, reflect, & gain more appreciation. --I was encouraged to, after the age of reason. I now attend Grace Assembly with my husband, but still need Mass(our son's in St. Dominic, so we go there too). I'm not a Church hopper, but love being part of both Communities & Christ was all about personal relationships. --For me Mass feels like Worship & the Assembly feels like celebrating it(giving praise & thanks for our reasons to worship); if that makes any sense.
According to John Martignoni's website, Mike divorced his first wife, Janis, in 1982, after 13 years of marriage He married his current wife, Mary in 1984. Gendron left the Catholic Church in 1984 according to his own website. Quite a coincidence.
Wow, thanks for sharing that info about these marriages and years corresponding to his leaving the Church. Sounds like King Henry VIII!! …. History repeats itself…..
If Allie Beth Stuckey really wanted to find the truth about the Catholic church she wouldn't have spoken to Mike Gendron. She knows there are other Catholic apologist that intelligent and well versed in Catholic teachings. She's clearly wanting to paint Catholics in a bad light. She should be ashamed of herself for being dishonest.
That’s what is so frustrating with her. Is she willfully having someone like this on to spread more lies, didn’t do her homework on this guy before having him on, or just that clueless to it all?? 🥴 I’m not going to a soccer coach to learn about basketball! If she wants to learn more on the faith, have actual knowledgeable Catholics on
Yes. I was extremely disappointed in Allie for having Mike Gendron on her show. He's a disgruntled former Catholic. He makes his money by misrepresenting the Catholic Church on his videos. Why did Allie have this liar on her show? It was a very bad idea!
She previously hosted Trent Horn and cut him off constantly 🙄 speaking over him but this guy...silence. she is very much will fully ignorant on this topic. I'm a protestant and she has lost my sub over her anti catholic bias.
@@sezcerjan4431as a long time listener of Allie, and a Catholic, she could really redeem herself in this area by merely saying that Catholics are her brothers and sisters in Christ. That would really go a long way with me personally, but I am still waiting to hear it.

@timboslice980 love Brian Mercier. Dude knows what he’s talking about.
He always refuses to engage in any meaningful way with people who can call him on his lies. Protestants just hate Catholicism so much that they eat up the words of an obvious charlatan.
About half a year ago they finally made a Catholic canon Bible in my native language. How did the church react? They organised a big launching event, where the translations were invited, they sold the Bible and invited a bishop to talk about the Bible. The room was packed and some had to go home because there was no more room. But sure. We are discourage and excommunicated for owning a Bible. 😅
Roman Catholicism believes Jesus was a G-D. and that is something JESUS would never think or claim as a practising Jew. He was born a JEW, he was raised as a Jew and he died as a JEW. Jesus was not a Christian notwithstanding Paul's misinterpretation and clear misreading of the Hebrew bible. There is no Trinity in Judaism it was a made-up doctrine. There are no 3 Gods but one--the G-D of Israel. "HEAR O ISRAEL, THE LORD IS GOD, THE LORD IS ONE." ( Deuteronomy 6:4) And what is the Trinity all about? It came into being at the council of Nicea 300 after the time of Christ. It is not mentioned in the bible. It is completely without merit and against the religion of Jesus--and Jesus' religion was Judaism not Christianity.....
@@universeman657 Jesus was born a Jew, raised as a Jew and he died as a Jew. In fact Jesus was a devoted Pharisee learned in Pharisaic sources. To the Jews calling any man Divine would be blasphemous. There is an unquantifiable chasm separating G-D and man. The Jewish answer to Jesus' or any other man's supposed divinity is clear: It is simply not possible and contradicts the very fundamentals of the Bible and of Judaism. You shall have no other Gods before me-Exodus 20:3-4
@@anthonymagliaro364 I trust the infallible ruling of those specifically appointed by the Apostles, at Nicaea. Throughout history the Catholic Church either banned the Bible or burned if it was in the language of the people. The Bibles were in Latin, a language only the priests could understand so the people had to believe what the priests were telling them and as they couldn't read it for themselves the priests held the power. The RCC tortured those who translated the Bible into the people's language.
Yes, except that when you count them by clause (Thou shall or thou shalt not) there are actually 12 in Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5. Getting to 10 is a matter of how they are grouped.
@@agentjs09 You’d be surprised how many doctrines I have never been attacked for believing in as a Lutheran that I get attacked for believing as a Catholic. For example: infant baptism. The virginity of Mary, confession, the real presence in the communion, the sacrifice, having priests, crucifixes, and the ten commandments etc. And this just shows me that those folks are just anti-catholic and nothing more. They don’t care if a fellow Protestant believes these doctrines, then they are “non-essential”.
*Gendron is hardened in his willful ignorance.* I believe he's not a very "gifted" person to be polite. I think that Mike Gendron is a rather gifted person who is a liar. Dude literally works as a rocket scientist. He has the “hardware” upstairs to learn the truth of what the catholic church teaches, he just refuses to tell the truth.

It is utter nonsense to believe you have TWO 'THOU SHALT NOTS' in Exodus 20, verses 2-6 but ONLY ONE COMMANDMENT. Spare me. Mike is NOT the one being deceptive here.
This is missing in their understanding extremely often. I feel many think it means “i could go to heaven or hell, it can go either way and now i have to wait here and not know.”
Catholic now, but I feared the idea of purgatory as a Protestant because I didn’t understand it in the slightest. Learning that everyone who goes to Purgatory does go to Heaven instantly calmed any fear I originally had of it
In his early years Luther (in the 95 thesis) opines that purgatory is something great to be embraced and those who fear and try to evade it (by obtaining indulgences) sin exactly by doing that. But today many protestants just sell a cheap knock-off christianity in which "faith" means belief in "god will make all well - no matter what". Once hooked on that, anything that challenges it will be rejected, because it is the one thing that Must Not Be Challenged.
I was afraid of purgatory because of the "fire." Going through RCIA, I was calmed by learning the official church teaching is not that you go to an outer realm of hell and will be purged in fire and will be there until someone prays you out. Whew what a relief. But to know that, God in his goodness and mercy is cleansing me of my attachment to sin to prepare me for heaven!! I pray I make it!! Lord have mercy on me a sinner!
Purgatory is not feared by Protestants. First there is no reference or allusion to the practice in Scripture. Secondly, it promotes the practice of works to get oneself into Heaven, not faith.
As a Seventh Day Adventist who watches both Joe and Trent Horn regularly, I appreciate this video. The very reason I started watching you guys was because I wanted to understand the Catholic perspective from their lips and not what is regurgitated to me. Because I actively teach the SDA message which has some pretty offensive beliefs towards Catholicism and Evangelicals, I decided the burden was on me to know what these people actually are saying rather than simply relying on what I have heard. I have definitely in my past taught things that were not an accurate portrayal of Catholicism and because of watching you guys I have been able to change my nuance and portrayal of Catholicism in many areas. One, I just learned in this video concerning the command on idolatry. Instead of portraying Catholics as outright removing the commandment, it would be more accurate to say we have a different understanding of what idolatry is. Just in case any SDA reads this or even Catholics, it is important to note I am very conservative so I am not of the liberal wing of Adventism that some would see as saying something like this as a compromise. I definitely apologize where I have misrepresented Catholicism in the past and for my brethren that do it now. I regularly teach my local brethren about these various nuanced misunderstandings/misrepresentations. I can still have an issue with the Catholic and Orthodox view of idolatry without portraying them as people who believe idolatry is ok. As a SDA I can see that this former Catholic is definitely lying as Joe put it and I am highly biased against Catholic doctrine. If there is any faith out there that is the opposite of Catholicism it would be Adventism and I would be the perfect candidate to want to try and discredit what Joe has said here but it is often the case that former people of a given faith are often not the best at representing it. This man clearly has a narrative combined with a bad spirit to intentionally misrepresent. I have seen this with many former SDA, and even those of other faiths. I like what Joe said at the end about good dialogue and proper representation on how it can bring us closer in love and truth. Although SDA and Catholicism are very far apart and we can't really get closer to agreeing on truth without entirely abandoning our particular faiths, we can grow to have love for one another if we don't seek to intentionally misrepresent and even further actually try to understand our opponents. This was one of my favorites videos from Joe. Blessings Corey McCain

I am not someone who has been "taught", though originally I was, I am someone who knows what I believe for myself and teach it in great detail. If I were to ever leave the SDA faith I would not be able to claim I was taught this or that, I would have to claim I personally got a bunch of things wrong in my own studies and left for a different faith because I have found something better. @@sumpinhapenin3070 I can't say much concerning your experience and have no reason to doubt it. I would say the people of the church should have been clear from the beginning that proper Sabbath observance is essential and the lack of it could mean that a person just doesn't understand or the person could be rebellious and not saved. Typically it is better to side with mercy and help educate rather than condemn someone as rebellious unless there is very clear reason to do so. Concerning diet in Adventism, it is not supposed to be a test of fellowship and we shouldn't criticize people for their diet but the church should educate people on the subject. Unfortunately today the church has become very liberal on this subject in many cases which actually makes many people happy, in my opinion to no benefit for themselves. This can very from church to church and region to region. Yes we very much oppose once saved always saved and love should be produced as an expression of faith, or in other words our works do matter because they testify to the genuineness of faith. Concerning our views on Catholicism and other protestant churches I am sure there are situations where there is unnecessary bashing of other faiths and there are situations where people are interpreting it as such when its not. It depends on the individual situation. SDA's are not automatically holy because of being in this faith and in fact the majority will not be saved, and this is part of SDA belief, not me criticizing. I think most SDA would acknowledge that there are plenty of problem people among us and unless they repent they will not see the kingdom of God. Blessings Corey
@@Pacmanflatts23 yes the church does consider me apostate, but I also believe my church is in apostasy so ot goes both ways. If a person leaves Catholicism they would believe that person to be apostate as well. It is what it is, if any church believes someone has apostatized, that doesn't make the church evil for believing it, what matters is the truth. So whether my church sees me as an apostate or I see her as apostatizing, or we of opposing faiths see other faiths as apostate, it doesn't mean much. I think people like to get emotional about it when maybe we as individuals need to calm our emotions down. I believe Joe and Trent as well as protestants should see Adventism including me as an apostate faith from their perspective. That doesn't mean I should get emotional about it or that I would go around with no context saying this faith or that faith is apostate. Me claiming some faith is a cult or apostate, means nothing without a context. So what if people from a given faith say that another is apostate. Does it have context behind it or is it just a self exalted statement trying to puff oneself up and agitate another. Thus I don't concern myself with these claims. Blessings Corey
Any religious denomination weather it is Catholicism or a Protestantism preaches a different Gospel with doctrines of lies will all be judge to be liars and will be sent in the lake of fire of hell if they do not repent and be born-again. As we all know it only takes one lie to end up in hell. Look what happened to Adam and Eve they committed one lie and they were kicked out of the garden the same for liars will be kicked out of the kingdom of God. The Bible says all liars will have their part in the lake of fire and the wage of sin is death. Since all these two denominations have existed for centuries has committed many lies by taking out true meaning doctrines from the apostolic fathers and adding or replacing with false new doctrines to justify their narrative belief and by reading them out of context and not taking in it's face value will be judge accordingly. All religions who are not true to the words of the inspired words of God in the Bible it is not the church of Jesus Christ but a synagogue of Satan. It will mean nothing to God for you to keep defending your religion if you let men dictate what it says unless your correct your teaching habit by letting God speak to you through the Holy Spirit not by men's authority as if they know better then what Jesus has preached.

The first rebuttal I ever did on my channel was responding to Mike Gendron’s most famous talk because at the time I saw far fewer Catholics responding to him. I’m glad to see so many more responding to his nonsense now especially with voices as clear and cogent as yours! Keep up the great work!
hi joe. after a few months of inquiring into the catholic faith, i came across mike gendron's work and it sent me down a rabbit hole. i nearly became fully convinced of his position, that not only is catholicism "unbiblical"...but according to him, pretty much evil. but despite how convinced i was, something was still telling me i needed to go back and give catholicism another look. and as soon as i did, there was this peace...not even in my heart, but somewhere in my soul. certainly not something i experienced while embracing anti-catholic protestantism, honestly. anyway! i posted a video sharing about this experience and many people recommended your channel in the comments, especially this episode in particular. and it did not disappoint! thank you for taking the time to put out such informative content. i already find it really helpful. 🙏🏻 subscribed!
@whathappening5323 why don't you stop being a troll. True religion is caring for the orphans and widows in which catholics do. Your protestant sect doesn't protect the unborn. There's nothing wrong with pure religion. You're a wolf in sheep's clothing. No one is listening to your lies.
Thanks Joe! The comments under that video are full of Catholics pointing out his lies. I’m glad you are making a video on it. Allie has lost credibility, but the anti Catholic viewers sure are happy to believe what was said.
I used to subscribe to her TH-cam channel and then one time I saw a video where she was saying some very just typical not Catholic things about Saints because she doesn’t understand saints and I was like I don’t want to watch her videos anymore.
@@femaleKCRoyalsFan I never watched any of her content except the discussion she had with George Farmer, but I assumed she at least was honest. Just letting Gendron run away with his lies without pushing back or even asking for a citation was disappointing.

This guy is bad, but Allie Beth is in danger of being among those St. Paul speaks of in II Timothy 4:3. She seems determined to remain ignorant and so willing to believe Protestant lies. She is so ignorant it hurts. Not very smart.

As I was listening to Mike Gendron lying to Allie Beth Stuckey, I felt so bad while watching her being deceived. It doesn't make any sense for her to invite a guy who slandering the Catholic Church when she just talked to a well-informed Catholic like Trent Horn. Another great video! Well done, Joe!
Texas public records show Gendron divorced his first wife, Janis, in 1982, after 13 years of marriage, and married Mary J. Aragon in 1984. On his website, it states that he left the Catholic Church in 1984. I have a sneaking suspicion I know why he left the Catholic Church, and why he has so much animosity towards it that he’s made it his life’s work to lie about the Church.
Basically doctrinal objections to Catholicism are often moral objections in disguise Bishop Fulton Sheen nailed it. "most people basically do not have trouble with the creed, but with the commandments, not so much with what the Church teaches, as with how the Church asks us to behave"
This Gendron fellow is very anti catholic from the sound of it. Seems to want to sow a spirit of division and push his audience towards further separation. I have not come across Protestants who display this type of hatred for Catholics in Asia. We continue to pray for unity and reconciliation. Anyway, appreciate your videos. Very clearly articulated, packed with evidence.

Thanks Joe - that was an excellent analysis and very helpful. I only heard the Protestant 'version' of Catholicism for many years - particularly via John MacArthur - and I just trusted it without properly researching what I was hearing. I am so grateful for your work.
Unfortunately, most Protestants accept what their pastors tell them about us as the gospel. Without ever questioning them. I’m so happy that I’m not alone in my struggles. I see so many of my Catholic brothers and sisters here defending the faith. My hope is that in this age of information we can actually prevent these lies from continuing. ( I know, it will be a hard fight) Thank you so much for this very important information about what we really teach.
Let me be serious for a second, I was raised evangelical Baptist. When I was older, I researched some things my pastors preached and found they were lies. Now I am not saying that all pastors lie, but mine did. This led me to leave the church and Christianity as a whole. Thankfully i married a faithful catholic women and found my way back to salvation through Jesus. Here is the problem with Mike's work, it is so blatantly false that when people find out they are deceived, it could cause them to leave Christianity. Like I did. Mike is gaining an income from these lies, but at what cost? The souls of lost Christians?
We were also going to debunk this but are preparing for a debate. Plus, you already have made it. Thank you for making this video. It needed to be addressed.
I grew up Protestant, and I remember thinking a lot of the things that people say about the Catholic Church are true. Now I can relate to everything they are saying, but I am so much more frustrated by it because I know what the truth is. Thank you, Joe!
I was waiting for someone to do a rebuttal of that horrible video. I lost all respect for Allie, she just can't hide her disdain for Catholicism. Thank you for this.
Truly one of the best guys out there, Joe! Thank you for the work that you do. I have been trying to share your channel with as many people as I can find as I feel like you are such a great resource for just about anyone, no matter where they are on their Faith journey!
One of the stories Mike has invented recently is that when he was a teen, he was a "good friend" of Padre Pio. He claims he went to visit him with his uncle a priest and they would "Co-celebrate" sic. the Mass. It's well known that because of his age, Padre Pio was given an indult to continue to offer what we now call the EF. The rubrics of the EF did not allow for "Con-Celebration" Mike has admitted to me that he and his uncle did not speak Italian, even now as he prepares to start a mission to Catholics in Italy, he needs a translator. While it is true that Con-celebration was permitted in the Latin Rite from 1964 until it was made universal in 1970 with the Missal of Pope St. Paul VI, during the years of 1964 to his death in 1968 it was only permitted for large gatherings such as General Meetings of Religious Orders with the Superior General or a Cardinal as the Main Celebrant. Not what Mike describes. ' It is hard to imagine that a priest who was non-Capuchin missionary to the South Pacific, and his nephew would have time to become what Mike says he was, "A Good Friend" of Padre Pio for another reason. Padre Pio would take two to three hours to offer a low Mass, then would spend up to eight or more hours hearing confessions. He also had to eat, sleep, and participate in community activities like joining his fellow Capuchins in praying the Office. He had to work with the people who assisted him with his correspondence, not just because of the volume of mail, but also because the letters came from around the world and he needed not just typists but bi-lingual assistants, leaving very little time to become a good friend of a priest and teen who did not speak Italian to become chums.
Help me out. I've heard that he received an indult to say the TLM. The Novus Ordo Missae was published in 1969. Padre Pio died in 1968. What was the indult for?
@@carissstewart3211 In 1964 A Missal was promulgated that kept to most of the TLM. The Prayers at the Foot of the Altar and the Last Gospel were dropped (which before the Missal of Pope St. Pius V were private prayers of the priest and Sanctuary Party, so not really a part of the rite until his revised Missal was published. The readings (Epistle and Gospel) and some of the proper's of the Mass of the Day were read in the Vernacular. Priests were allowed to face the people. For older priests who may have difficulty after many years of using the old rites, they were permitted the use of the pre 1964 Missal.

When my wife and I first converted, her parents and grandparents kept showing us stupid Gendron videos and one question they asked over and over again was, "Why do the people who were actually in it, including people we know personally, talk about how bad Catholicism is? Why don't you listen to them?" My response was always to bring up people that we knew that were raised in the Holiness movement (the denomination they belong to and what my wife and I grew up in), but left, either to join a liberal church or to leave the faith entirely, and I ask them if they think those people are good people to go to if you want to learn about Holiness.

I would be curious to see if some of her viewers notice how different Trent and Mike talk about Catholicism. Perhaps it sparks their intrigue. Regardless, prayers for truth and understanding are in order.
Thank you Joel for addressing this interview on the ABS podcast. It’s really infuriating that Mike Gendron has continued for decades to lie like he does. I pray for him because he bears false witness against his neighbor
Thanks for highlighting the terrible LIES peddled by Mike Gendron. I used to believe the guy too, even subscribing to his newsletter. My family and I converted to Catholicism several years ago and, thank God, we can finally see through all of these lies and reject them all.
I spent 40 years in a very anti catholic cult (seventh day adventist-they claim to be Protestant but it’s definitely a cult!) anyway, we were taught these lies as well that the Catholic church removed a commandment and split another commandment into 2, so that they could justify worshiping idols. Please keep exposing the truth. I am on year 3 listening to Fr Mike Schmitz Bible in a Year podcast and nothing could be further from the truth to say that the Catholic church discourages bible reading! I have been so blessed by this podcast and also by your podcast/channel. I am on a journey of study and have some questions myself still about Catholic teaching, so I just keep searching and digging!
For a large number of them, I have found this to be true. When I try to explain theological concepts like Mary being Ark of the New Covenant, how the Manna from heaven points to the Eucharist, etc. Most hear it as border level blasphemy. These concepts go back to early Christianity. But if it’s not black and white stated plainly in scripture they don’t want to even think about it.
It's possible he told so many lies so many times that he truly just believes what he is saying 100% truthful. I remember a family believed that one saying about being clean after taking a shower and never once changed out the towel. Or a obese woman's mom told her to drink a diet soda to cancel out the sugar of drinking a soda. It's possible.
He's obviously not a Chriatian. Why would you even think he is? Formal heresy severs one from the Body of Christ. You can't believe what he believes and spread the lies he spreads while still being a Christian.
I know Trent Horn mentioned that quote in his video about how secular culture tries to suppress the open faith of Catholicism among believers. Think the thumbnail was one of Justice Amy C. Beret when she was told “I see the faith lives in you.” That may be a place to start for that full quote.

They organised a big launching event, where the translations were invited, they sold the Bible and invited a bishop to talk about the Bible. The room was packed and some had to go home because there was no more room.

As a former Lutheran I was surprised that some Protestants kept saying the Catholics “changed” the Ten Commandments. They are exactly the same!

Oh do please explain, if you can.
Protestants fear of purgatory always baffles me. Purgatory means heaven. Nobody who goes to purgatory doesn’t end up in heaven.

Additionally, there are 3, the original hebrew has "לא" (which means do not) for verse 3. And because Evangelicals dropped verse 2, they don't have the context to interpret it as one commandment: (I AM the LORD your God, so have neither other gods nor graven images in place of me). Without that crucial verse 2, the commandment splits into 2 because you lack the reason WHY God says not to do such things.

Because she fears the truth. This was a massive overcorrection. She’s clearly struggling and needs our prayers.
@@Singalingaring Amen.
I think Allie Beth is a bad-faith actor....she's not concerned with learning the truth. She is just interested in peddling anti-Catholic rhetoric
Great job Joe. Let’s get you on the show.
THANKYOU!!!
I tried posting a few comments on her TH-cam. Now I’ve posted this video asking for a retraction and apology.
Basically doctrinal objections to Catholicism are often moral objections in disguise
Bishop Fulton Sheen nailed it.
Mike Gendron does not hate Catholics. He tries to explain them why he thinks they are deceived
@getrit3007Well, listen to what Joe discusses.
@@lucillemasters6791he doesn't watch the videos. He sees they were posted and goes straight to the comments to troll people. A case study should be done on people like that.
@@thundersmite2162 yeah, my troll sensors were going off. Best to leave them be.
@getrit3007
Once again we are on the getrit troll go round …
So sick and tired of former Catholics who leave the Church so they can divorce and remarry.
Yes, Mike is a liar.
The spirit of pride refuses to submit to Our Lord bride, so they invent a strawman Church and attack her instead.
Thank you Joe for addressing this and for all you do. We should pray for Mr. Gendron and Allie. 📿 🙏.
I have struggled with being patient and kind myself. GOD knows my heart.
Thanks for reminding us to be charitable.
I like seeing you a little fired up! Thanks for all you do.
( I know, it will be a hard fight)
Thank you so much for this very important information about what we really teach.
Mike Gendron will be accountable to God for spreading lies about the Catholic Church.
@@JoAnnFuir Very much.
I pray daily for those who have been lead astray by false prophets and false teachers that they may be forgiven their sins an accepted in to Heaven.
At the loss of his own soul , hopefully God will intervene before that happens , we pray for him
Love the full length videos
We were also going to debunk this but are preparing for a debate. Plus, you already have made it. Thank you for making this video. It needed to be addressed.
Please make one. The more the merrier and the more potential to reach people!
There's so much more in that video that could stand to be addressed, don't let me stop you!
It is hard to imagine that a priest who was non-Capuchin missionary to the South Pacific, and his nephew would have time to become what Mike says he was, "A Good Friend" of Padre Pio for another reason.
We have Catholic Answers to thank for the amazing response in Allie's video! You guys have helped equip us all for these times.
This is why you're my favorite. Thank you Joe for being honest and having integrity. I became an immediate fan when watching your LDS videos and seeing how truthful and good-faith you were about their teachings. We need more of this and now I will watch anything you decide to put out and it is always golden. I will soon be purchasing The Early Church was the Catholic Church and can't wait to read it. Coming into the church from atheism with a previous anti-Catholic nondenom upbringing, it has been an adventure for sure. Thank you for all that you do. Shameless Popery remains my household favorite channel. God bless you.
Exactly. People think they're getting the inside scoop, when they're often just getting distorted baggage and falsehoods.
Welcome home to both of you!
Tell her parents about where he's speaking from
Look up "Mike Gendron" "divorced" on Google. That'll open your eyes. He "remarried" the same year he left the Church. He should be exposed.
13:44 I'm really glad you're covering a little of this. I can't tell you how many times I've argued with people about Imprimaturs
Mike claims he was a catechism teacher but don’t know scriptures. 😂😂😂
I am interested to see how many of Allie's viewers begin to look into Catholicism now that she had Mike Gendron on. Trent Horn was on her show a few months ago. I would be curious to see if some of her viewers notice how different Trent and Mike talk about Catholicism. Perhaps it sparks their intrigue. Regardless, prayers for truth and understanding are in order.
Very interesting point! -Vanessa
I never could have imagined that what's available in the Catholic Church would have brought me so close to God. Keep searching.
Rome Sweet Home by Professor Scott Hahn is an excellent resource. It will teach you the truth about Catholicism.
protestant theology is about as deep as kindergarten poetry
I couldn't have said it any better
Who cares about theology
@@danib712 Those with a brain...
That’s not very charitable…
For a large number of them, I have found this to be true. When I try to explain theological concepts like Mary being Ark of the New Covenant, how the Manna from heaven points to the Eucharist, etc. Most hear it as border level blasphemy. These concepts go back to early Christianity. But if it’s not black and white stated plainly in scripture they don’t want to even think about it.
I’m doubting whether Mike is even Christian at all. A true Christian is fearful of the Lord and would not lie like this!
The last acceptable prejudice is anti-Catholicism. I can’t remember who said that though.
I know Trent Horn mentioned that quote in his video about how secular culture tries to suppress the open faith of Catholicism among believers. Think the thumbnail was one of Justice Amy C. Beret when she was told “I see the faith lives in you.” That may be a place to start for that full quote.
@@jendoe9436 I just asked Siri and it said James Martin! I have to laugh …James Martin? I wonder which James Martin Siri was talking about
@@femaleKCRoyalsFan people are human, and thus sometimes surprise us in ways we don’t expect. Someone I know actually read a book by Fr. James Martin that was pretty solid on Church teaching, and that person can sometimes be overly nit-picky on some things with the church. Will have to go through my texts to see if I can find that title.
Either way, I’m not sure Fr. James Martin is the originator of that quote. Maybe he just uses it a bit more frequently and the algorithm picked up on it. Cause I’m pretty sure it’s been a thing in academia for a number of years now.
Guess that’s a fun rabbit hole to follow for a bit if you’re bored today
I can't believe there are still grownups who believe what Mike believes....
Maybe there aren't any grownups who do, James!😂
He doesn't even believe it himself:
Look up "Mike Gendron" "divorced" on Google. That'll open your eyes. He "remarried" the same year he left the Church. He should be exposed.
I cant believe there are adults who are catholic. What a strange world we live in!
He's full of lies & hate and never knew anything about the Catholic faith. He's also spewing these types of lies & hate on radio station VCY, an evangelical/Baptist TV station who loves to constantly bash Catholics and the Catholic Church.
Thank you, Joe, for taking a stand and calling what he's doing what it is: lying.
To be honest, as a former Catholic and current Protestant, anti- Catholic Protestants and their blatant lies and misrepresentations of the Catholic Church has done more to drive me closer to becoming Catholic again than any Catholic apologist.
What's keeping you away from joining the church again. Any protestant church that you align yourself with was started by a particular person without any authority given. They decide their doctrine.
Come on home, brother! In all honesty, what’s stopping you? Genuinely curious and maybe someone can help you here or even Joe if he were to see your comment.
I am praying that you return home to Catholicism 🙏 Just start reading the Catechism of the Catholic Church online for free.
@@gc3563 I am unsure of where I stand on the idea of the Mass as a sacrifice. That is probably the number one theological issue I have. But the main is more personal, that it’s not only me but also my family and I want to be sure of Catholicism before I try to lead them into the church.
Come home. I used to be an ex Catholic and gobbled up the Evangelical church untruths about the Catholic Church. Read and pray about Holy Communion and come back to Jesus. And then read about all the other stuff that might be bugging you. Find good honest resources like you found here in this podcast. Bless you on your journey!
