Wow Road Warriors in PR right after I left :( I was lucky to be able to watch NWA wrestling in Puerto Rico, because in the North west (Arecibo) I was able to get a weak tv reception from the USA in channel 13. The quality was horrible, but it was good enough to see the show most of the time.
Terry Funk, one of the most successful *SOUTHPAWS* ever in old-school pro wrestling, after Harley Race,Pedro Morales,Jumping Joe Savoldi,José Rivera,Sr. and Ox Baker.
I see a lot of Bill Alfonso in the old WWC matches...a lot of old matches in general actually. he really got around as a ref but i never really noticed him til ECW
cKreepy Jones that because Fonzy was a Senior NWA Referee and WWC was still a official member until either the end of 1988 or 1990 (depending on who you ask). WWC had a strong working relationship with NWA CWFlorida specifically
He was a Senior Referee for Championship Wrestling from Florida (CWF). I didn't know he worked matches for World Wrestling Council? Yes, he is far better know by most Wrestling Fans for Managing Taz, Sabu and Rob Van Dam.
This was by far the worst of the three matches these teams had. The two they had in Japan were absolute wars. The fact that this ring which was a boxing ring was 2/3's the size of an American ring and fully 1/2 the size of the Japanese ring didn't help any either.
The Tag belts that the Roadies are wearing, are those the NWA International titles? Couldn't get a good enough look at them to tell. But I believe they are the belts they won over in Japan? Not sure though?
This is wrestling GOLD WWC in the 80s was one of the TOP TERRITORIES 😎....
2 legendary tag teams R.I.P the Road Warriors and Terry Funk
