On "My Car Story" we're at the Wisconsin State Fair Park in West Allis WI on 2-23-23 at the World of Wheels car show.
We're looking at a 1970 Dodge Challenger in Dark Burnt Orange Paint. The car is equipped with a 340 CI V8 engine, with an automatic transmission.
The car's Owner is being represented by the Restorer Mitch Kreis. Mitch shares the Owner has had this car since new in 1969. Mitch shares the Owners Mother named the car “Delores” and this one’s been “Delores” since then. The restoration on this car makes it look like it’s fresh out of the showroom in 1970. Well done!

Hi, If you like this video, please click on SUPER THANKS ❤ with the $ in the middle which is the SUPER THANKS button under the video. Thank you! Lou
Wow, what a time capsule. Mitch did some very nice work on it. Thanks Lou
Hi Roger, Happy to receive a "Wow" from you :-) You're welcome, Lou
Such an iconic body style, truly timeless. It stands beautiful on it's own, without all the spoilers and gimcrackery that people usually add on. 👍
Hi 1969, Happy to read you enjoy the body style design of this car :-)
The 340 was my favorite MOPAR mill of the day. It was not nose heavy like the mighty big blocks, easy to service and hooked up quicker in street light racing.
Happy to read the 340 was your favorite Mopar :-)
Probably the cleanest most immaculate car I've seen in some time. Good find Lou and thanks!
Hi Gary, You're right. This one looks showroom new :-) You're welcome, Lou
Excellent car! This car is very unusual because in 1970 Dodge sold the Challenger or Challenger R/T. The Challenger had the 6 cyl, 318 or 340 engine and the R/T had the 383, 440, or HEMI. Over at Plymouth they had the Barracuda or Cuda. The Barracuda had the 6 cyl or 318 while the performace Cuda had 340,383,440 or HEMI. Dodge offered the performance options for the 340 car but it never stepped up to the R/T status.
Hi Mark G, High praise :-) Thanks for viewing and sharing your knowledge, Lou
You're right, this '70 does look showroom ready and the color really looks great! Nice catch on the hood decals, too. Thanks, Lou!

🙋♂️ THANKS LOU,MITCH…ONE OF MY FAVORITE’s back in the day 🤩🤩
Actually I have a story too…in the mid seventies, our next door neighbor ,@ 30 lived with her mom …had a green one, which was her baby …she let me give it a tuneup…and take it for a test drive 😎 story for me 💚💚💚
Happy to read this was a FAVORITE of yours :-)
Lou you certianly know which cars to pick for your videos! Awesome Challenger, you'll go a long time before you see another A66. Big blocks reigned in 1970, and I guess Dodge didn't want R/T and 'small block' used in the same sentence. The A66 option allowed the 340 to look like an R/T without actually being one. It's funny that in '71 the tide had turned and they finally let the 340 into the R/T family as a 'no cost' option, no more A66 for '71. This was a great video Lou, keep going!!
Hi Classic Muscle Car Exhaust, Thanks for sharing your knowledge. My pleasure sharing this one with you, Lou
One of my favorites!
NICE!
Another beauty thanks gentleman 🤠👍
You're welcome DOCTRJ91 Live Live :-)
Very nice. Gotta love the sound of a factory exhaust 340-383-440-426 Hemi 70's Challenger/Cuda!
Happy to read you enjoy this "Very nice" car :-)
Damn Lou how on earth did this Challenger only score 996 out of 1000 she's perfect, what happened a hose clamp facing in the wrong direction, I do believe the judges need to pay the eye doctor a visit!
Hi Brian, You're right. this one is perfect. Lou
71 up master cylinder, not a correct 70, looks like a Ford rim on the space saver spare, missing the driver's side exhaust manifold heat shield, oil dipstick handle should be black not orange, tag on battery shouldn't be there. Those are a few things I see incorrect.
Don't flame me, you asked lol!
My 340 T/A got 986/1000 if I recall at mcacn, some things I lost points for were repro polyglas tires instead of original 50 year old tires, and a missing date code on my passenger side window. MCACN judging is serious stuff, you lose points for any repro part for example, only a couple cars there have ever got 1000 points, getting oe gold like this challenger is quite an honor!👍
Perfectly beautiful.
High praise Barrycuda :-)
💕👍 great style 🙋♀️
Happy to read you enjoy the style of this car :-)
What a grat lookingcar that Challenger is, i would not mind that set of weels. 👍👍.
Hi Philip, Happy to read you enjoy this car :-) Lou
Growing up in Chicago a friend was T-Boned by a CTA bus driving his beauty 75 Delta 88 convertible.I was shocked how quickly he received compensation and he immediately bought a 70 AAR CUDA.
It's my understanding the 340 tri-power was and is the most powerful production engine in it's day per cubic inch.
The points not given on this wonderful Challenger I'm guessing is the slight squeak on the driver door hinge that's all I can muster up as a witty comment to a gorgeous beast!
Thumbs up as always Lou and sharing your channel whenever I can.
Hi Maris Alchimovics, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Friends car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing the Channel with others, Lou

Hi Сергій Шамін, Happy to read you enjoy this "Great car" :-) You're welcome, Lou
Nice paint
Hi LITTLE, Happy to read you enjoy the paint on this car :-) Lou
¡Saludos, Lou!
Hi Jaime, "excessively perfect and brilliant" High praise :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing what you notice, Lou
This Challenger is clearly a championship contender. Love the 340 and those lines...Fantastic.
Hi Johnny, High praise :-) Lou
Yes! The 1970 model year brought us some cool a$$ MOPAR muscle! This or the 70 Dart Swinger 340 bb stripe sweetness… From 50’s sleeper DeSoto’s to the 70’s muscle Mopars!
Meooowwww.
Hi MooDog's Frugal Adventures!, Happy to read you enjoy this MOPAR :-) Thanks for viewing and sharing, Lou
Nice car. I have a White 70 340 Challenger. I have owned since 1979. Mine started life as a Gold with black vinyl top. 318 with a 904 automatic. 7 1/4 rear end. Today the 340 is built and a 727 torqueflite. 8 3/4 4:10 gears. Nice to see what it would of been called if it was a factory build. This is one of the nicest 70 Challengers I have seen. Thanks for the video.
Hi Randy, Happy to read "This is one of the nicest 70 Challengers I have seen" :-) Glad to read you have a fun car too. You're welcome for the video, Lou
1970 Dodge Challenger 340.
The Dodge Challenger would be introduced in 1969 for the 1970 model year as a Mid-Size Muscle Car at around 205-210 inches in length. It featured quad headlights at the front, a "D O D G E" emblem above the car's front fascia, circular amber turn signals and rectangular turn signals on the right/left side of the car's front fascia, and a rectangular grille that had the "Challenger" badging on the right side of the car. The rear end of the challenger featured two rectangular taillights with the "D O D G E" badging in the middle of the car's rear fascia. The car's most powerful engines were the same in the Dodge Charger, only appliable if you equipped the "R/T" or "Road/Track" package on the car in the late 60s/early 70s, which were the 426 Chrysler Hemi V8 and the 440 Chrysler RB V8. The 426 Hemi made 425 Horsepower and 490 Pound Feet of Torque (350 Net Horsepower in 1972), while the more reliable, fuel-efficient, and cheaper 440 Chrysler RB V8 made 390 Horsepower and the same 490 Pound Feet of Torque (315 Net Horsepower in 1972). The R/T badge featured an "R/T" badge below the "Challenger" emblem in the grille and featured them at the back. It also featured upgraded suspension, brakes, and a redesigned interior. The Dodge Challenger also came with other trims, including the "T/A" package.
The car shared commonality with the 1970-1974 Plymouth Barracuda. The 1970-1974 Plymouth Barracuda featured a split grille, one headlight on each side at the front, rectangular amber turn signals at the left and right front sides, high-beam headlights located below the car, and three rectangular taillights located on each side of the car's rear fascia. One of the three taillights had a white reverse light as well. It had the same engines as the main Challenger (426 Hemi and 440 RB) and the same platform as it. The Barracuda's high-end variant was just simply called the "'Plymouth 'Cuda". The Barracuda before it had similarities to the 1964-1968 Ford Mustang and was introduced 16 days before the Ford Mustang, but only sold a fraction and was criticized poorly.
Hi Matthew, Thanks for viewing and sharing your knowledge, Lou

Hi Michael, Happy to read you enjoy this "Cool" car :-) Lou

:-)
Outstanding. What a gem. Love to know where they lost the four points (996/1000)?
Hi KEITH, High praise :-) No idea why this one would have any points off, Lou
I can dig this....
Early '00s, a guy is red lining a 318 one in black locally.
He bought it,,,,,comes storming into another shop.
Even they could getcha ya ;)
Hi Glen, Happy to read "I can dig this..." :-) Me too, Lou
Wisconsin, hey? Would love to see it
Hope you see this one soon.
Maravilloso coche
High praise :-)
OH BOY, big bro Lou. You just keep yanking my super floppy sneakers offa my tubesocked stocking feet and running off with 'em like footballs, big bro😂. Definitely a big brother guy thing and I love it 🤣😂lol! Deloris is truly a red headed beauty and I just wanna pick my jaw up off the floor as I text this. Love the spelling of her name, BTW-therefore I see her clearly as a gorgeous Latina chick a la Sophia Vergara😜😍. The work Mitch has done is incredible, just like from the showroom in 1970! "Subtle" Dodge Challengers like this are really special, man. Elegant along with being badass, with a killer rear end treatment/taillights. Hey! As a life long Robin Yount fan (he's my hero and I kinda look like a pint sized, balding Yount myself lol) I have always wanted to go to Millwaukee and there you are, big brother! WOW. Thanks for the inspiration, Lou. :) JV Johnny ⚾
Hi JV Johnny, He's got the super floppy sneaker.....he's on the run.... he could go all the way......TOUCHDOWN! Happy to share this Milwaukee favorite with you. You're welcome, Lou
Also, show that Cordoba or Charger in white across from it.
....that one I didn't get to. Good news! Here is one you might enjoy. th-cam.com/video/fDVS2MYJKo8/w-d-xo.html
I’m building a 70 Challenger burnt orange looking at this I’m consider making it a hardtop and deleting the vinyl top
Glad to read you have a cool car. Hope it comes out the way you like it!

what a beauty
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-)

Someone please tell me why power steering is part of the radio package? Gorgeous car.
Hmmm, I'm not sure.
@@loucostabile After Googling and checking For E Bodies Only, I come up with nuttin'. I can only surmise, considering the era this car was made, that whoever printed out this window sticker was on acid. Probably Owsley Purple, by the looks of it. Maybe call owner?
obv built after late november 69 no v-8 badge on fender

Don't misgender the mans car!
Yes He/Him Sir!
