    Cambodia is like a new kid in the block but it has come a long way. I left the city way back in 1979 after surviving the genocide there. The city was like a ghost town and the country was in total ruins and the families were separated and torn apart. Most of my family members did not survive. It was seemed like yesterday. The civil war was officially ended in 1998 and the started to rebuild the country in the 2000s. Peace out from a genocide survivor under Khmer Rouge!

Their country has passed so many difficulties like two other countries in a peninsular but full of ancient history, some exotic East foods are still in my mind. 3) Vietnam is like a teenage lady who steps onto the global stage after resurrecting from a destroyed-ruined family, stillNaturalPure places with sympathetic remarkable PPL like no bad pasts, great colonial architectures throughout the country, creative & innovative French aspect decay fusioned with exotic East foods not too heavily...Happy!!!

Also both have a language barrier. Cambodia on the other hand has a cheap legendary retirement visa over 55 with no requirements at all !!!!! -- And -- the Khmer people speak English !!! + They are infinitely more friendly. No 'visa runs' to screw with & that saves you $ as well. - 🙏 - All considered -- I would select Siem Reap as my long term retirement destination - and simply visit the other 2. -- SR has cheap 1 hour flights to Bangkok !?! -- Cambodia even accepts my USD !!! -- International food is plentiful in SR - street food is cheap and they even have 50 cent beer !!! > PUB STREET is really cool & offers 'enough' for an old fart like me. --- Old people have a different perspective - eh ? --- Many expats live there comfortable enough for as little as $800/mo. -- $1500 gets you some real swanky & some travel !!!

      Some really good information here, thanks for your detailed comments. Yes I have heard a lot of people say Cambodia is great for retirement due to the visa. Visa runs can be very annoying and costly. Pub street is fine but there are a lot better ones in south east Asia. I enjoyed Siem reap very much. The tuk tuk drivers are relentless in Cambodia though I found, actually gave me a headache

    I dont think it makes sense to compare Cambodia to Thailand. Even before Cambodia fell into deep sh*t, Thailand already colonized Cambodia hundreds of years. Ie Rattanakosin era. Thailand has already been ahead of Cambodia since 17th century. Thus of course, most answers would be Thailand over Cambodia.

    Racism=Thailand, don't want to go to a country where you are wondering if you get barred from venues. Never felt that in Vietnam, they were really friendly on Saigon. Cambodia, highest crime rate and not developed enough for tourism, found it dirty and not safe at night. Night life, gets old real fast. If you are into paying western prices then go for Bangkok.

    • @lessworkmoretravel
      @lessworkmoretravel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Ron, hope you enjoyed the video. I personally found the Thais to be really friendly. I agree Cambodia isn’t quite developed for tourism just yet, it is getting there though. You can still make Bangkok very cheap if you are away from the centre although alcohol prices can get expensive in Bangkok.

      I don't see any Thai people being racist if the word "racist" refers to how Thais respond to Cambodian actions, for example in order to promote Cambodia. Cambodians turned to wearing Thai national costumes. And come out and do everything like Thailand, use Thai food, use Thai things to promote Cambodia, attack Thailand, mock Thailand, claim Muay Thai, claim Thai culture and also say that Thailand is a thief , WTF. Thai people not cursing back would be very strange. If it were you, you would probably curse back as well. When Thai people respond to bad action from Cambodia. You guys are accusing Thailand of trampling on ethnicity. WTF, what a shameful act by Cambodia or Laos? (Lao guy has already apologized to Thailand) That means you really don't know any Thai people. We don't mess with anyone. If they don't come and accuse Thailand first. Funny about the word racism.

    Only been to Cambodia... but my guess would be
    Culture : Cambodia, Thailand (Vietnam doesn't have anything)
    Party : Thailand, Vietnam (Cambodian aren't much into debauchery)
    Food : Thailand, Vietnam
    People : Cambodia, Thailand
    Lodging, city vibe : Vietnam, Thailand (just way more modern, and Cambodia is just a total mess)
    1st by far Thailand; 2nd Vietnam 3rd Cambodia.
