I need to get back to campus sometime this summer. I didn't know they had developed so many gardens by Baker Woodlot. I hope they didn't take part of the woodlot to do it. That was always one of my favorite places to go on campus for some relaxation. Sanford Natural Area was a little too small for a good walk, but it was nice to have closer to Cedar Village and Akers, my two places of residence for most of my time at MSU. The other alternative was a bike ride through the farms. Are the Horticultural Gardens still maintained behind the Nat-Sci building? They were always more formal gardens. I don't see them labeled on the map. Maybe these by Baker Woodlot are the replacement. I think the Beal Botanical Garden has a very different purpose than the Horticultural gardens, so not really fair to compare them. Thanks for this little excursion. Class of '76.
