I walked into Cafe Hurum and I never knew Chef Atul before to be honest. But the way he has interacted with us even I was not that humble during my initial enquiry. I understood why he succeeded, he was so humble & polite. Most of our Assamese folks are full of too much pride and hence we don't flourish much in business.
I am from Golaghat and I proudly confess that here overall people's favourite food is fish and most preferable fish include Hingi -magur-goroi mass. Though these fish are expensive still people are crazy over those. But saddest issue is that the young generation is showing severe dislike for fish now a days. Even the young mothers don't prefer to feed fish to their kids with the excuse that "kait lgbo" whereas fish plays a crucial role in development of brain and body of kids. Now a days when my mom invites a new bride and groom to have meal in my home, it is disappointed to find that the new bride and groom leave the plate of fish curry as it is without even touching. And most people today love fried fish than making it gravy with local herbs like Nal tenga etc and with local vegetables . Thank you Atul Sir for highlighting the issue of fish and thank you Aboyob for inviting such an amazing person.
