You can coat with modge podge (let dry) before and after painting as well for better adherence and longer lasting results

Thank you! Even the most "useless" experiments are really helpful. I am making dolls and wanted some gradients. Thank you for taking the time to your time to share your findings❤

Thanks for the video! Very clear and well put together. I was checking for patches for jackets and bags and such, for that purpose my biggest concern is washing. I'll have to do some tests myself. :)

Thank you so much for the time stamps! Yes, I think the only washer friendly options would be the wool and embroidery, without any additional fixative of some kind. And even the wool would further felt if you’re not carful! If you do experiments I would love to know the results!!

also you can take regular color pencils and dip the tip in water then paint the felt with the tip, they melt in water, it works great for me :3

I wonder if you put down the oily pastels first and then put makeup on after if you would get less transfer....Thank you for the video!

If you can get your hands on white viscose felt and fiber reactive dye, the colors you can achieve are stunning. But these are all such specialized things if you don’t own the dye stuff already. Thanks for this experiment, I never would have thought to try makeup. I came here looking for some ways to color stiff polyester or acrylic felt. (I suspect there is no perfect way.)

I have gotten into some natural dyeing after making this video so I may try applying a mordant of some kind to make the felt more receptive to the color! I’ll definitely look into fiber reactive dyes too! Thank you!

I have a can of adhesive primer that sticks to things like glass to help make paint stick. I'll try that and let you know how it goes.

You think dry brushing green felt with acrylic could make a grass like effect?

I wonder if spraying it with workable fixative can help the pastel color stay a bit better?

I have painted cloth doll shoes with acrylic mixed with fabric medium. I stuffed the shoes with paper towels. I did several coats and let dry. They turned out great and look like leather with a coat of matte sealer. I just wondered if it will work with felt. Guess I’ll experiment. 😂
