Mending All My Clothes (and other people's clothes too) | Dano Does Things
Follow along as I (semi-chaotically) mend a bunch of my clothes, as well as my friends' clothes. We're mending: pants, buttonholes, dresses, waistbands, shirts, ALL THE THINGS.
Can't sew? I barely can either, but mending, no matter how slap dash, can help extend the life of your clothes, save you money, and help the planet. It's wins all around baby.

    If you wanted to make the overall straps more sturdy (and more aesthetically pleasing). Just cut them off and reattach them a half inch down! :)

    Using glue to baste the fabric inside the trousers - thank you! So many times I have wrestled with pinning fabric into weird curves to repair kids shorts (because favourite ones always wear through) and I hadn't thought of doing this. I had only recently come across glue basting, but this tip will be game changing - thank you And this was a great body doubling video for some sewing this side 😁

    Here's an amazing tip for doing complicated cross stitch patterns. Make a photocopy of your pattern . On the copy, highlight in yellow the stitches that you are going to do next ( usually the next colour) . When you are finished these stitches go over them with a blue highlighter which turns the area green. The green area shows the area that is done. It makes it so much easier to keep track of where you are and where you need to go in the pattern. Hope this is helpful to others.

    Hi! Well done! I was wondering how you frame a 3-D felted project. I have some which have flowers coming out of the felt and ironing it would be impossible. Any thoughts?

    • @DanoDoesThings
      @DanoDoesThings 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Great question! It would be a very similar process, but you’d have to get a specific frame to accommodate the width of the fabric. I know they have some at IKEA but you’ll need a frame where the picture can be adjusted to either sit right up against the front part of the frame, or be set back from it. Use the same technique to adhere the piece to a sturdy cardboard and then frame like usual (set to the front of the frame). It will have more depth to hold the felt. Does that make sense haha? If not let me know and I can make a quick video!!

    Also start with something small but do it for 40 days. Then add more stuff. I will suggest sleeping at the same time, and waking up early to begin with. Take a short after lunch nap if you need it and can afford it. Then add making quick one pot meals. Then add a quick 10 mins stretching routine after waking up. Get well soon!❤

    That’s cute but really not how we made these in the 70s. Just take a wool blanket and sew it onto a package of satin blanket binding as the waistband and ties. The blanket satin goes on the inside of the top. Add a horse blanket pin farther down to help it stay closed.
