Seems like Amazfit releases a new watch every week but is this one worth it? The Amazfit Bip 5 retails for $89 in US. Watch the video to see if it's worth it! I forgot to mention in the video, but this watch is compatible with Apple and Android phones!
Most thorough review of the Bip 5 out there, man. Liked and subscribed. I have the GTS 4 as well, but I find myself wearing the Bip 5 more often. Great tracker.
The Bip 5 definitely delivers a lot for its price. Thanks for the kind words and the sub! More Amazfit product reviews coming, and of course other stuff...
Thank you for taking the time this very comprehensive review. It was the most helpful video for me that I have seen. My Apple Watch broke and it's out of warranty and This watch based on your review is the best watch to buy to tie me over till the new Apple Watch is released. Thanks again.
Hows the durability? These amazfit watches generally seem to be built with super thin fragile plastic. Ive seen some reviews where the plastic breaks where the band connects with it
per amazfit, it is made of aluminum alloy (the outside frame around screen) and plastic. but it does feel designed well with no gaps, button feels sturdy. but yea the bottom half is plastic so could scratch and break, but I had no issues. I could see the band attached area as being a weak point but it you are not exceeding hard on your watch it should be fine.
The active does everything that the Bip 5 can do. the active has a slightly smaller but AMOLED display, which gives you the option of having an always on display. The active gives you the Zepp coach. It has the readiness score, which tells you how rested you mind and body are. You can import routes for offline tracking. I think those are the big differences, besides the price. $79 vs 149. Check out the Amazfit website for the finer details, but if you are not interested in any of the above features, you could save some money with the Bip 5.
Yes, they both use the Zepp app. Again the app store is very limited. But they both have all the basic apps, like stop watch, find my phone, alarm, calendar, etc.
Good morning, Can the stopwatch run in the background? If you start the stopwatch and exit the function just long enough to change music or look at a notification, does it continue to run once you return to it (without resetting it to 0 each time)? THANKS ! :)
I am away now and can't double check but if memory is correct, yes, and it will give you an icon to press to go back to stop watch when you go back to watch face.
Would the gps work for navigating on a motorcycle? Im looking for a watch that could navigate on the road so i dont have to endanger my phone on a mount while i learn the roads in my area. I also dont want to play to much.
Thank you for your video! I am currently having a nervous breakdown with my Bip5. Got it in October and can't get any settings to last more than a day. Also, just locked the watch by accident and can't figure out how to unlock. Can you help me? Thank you again!
OK, I might have some good news! If you locked the screen through the quick toggles, then all you need to do is hold the button for a moment. Then the screen will light up, keep holding the button until it unlocks. then if you dont want the feature- toggle it off in the quick toggles. it will be lit up in blue if it is active. If you used the off wrist lock, then you need the password. Hopefully you remember it- it should be 4 or 5 numbers. for the settings, not sure what is going on with that. Are you putting the watch in a battery saver mode? this will disable a lot of features. You could do a factory reset- it is quick. what settings are changing? let me know if any of that helps
In a word no. but it is less than half the price...I think both are great watches and if you dont need the extra features, the Bip 5 is great. But the GTR 4 does offer more even though it is older. It does have an AMOLED display with better resolution and an AOD. It has a slightly longer battery life. It has an extra button and a rotating crown which is really helpful. Amazfit did add the AI coach to the GTR 4. The GTR 4 has other advanced features like the ability to import GPX files for offline tracking. But the basics are the same and the Bip 5. I think, as you see in the video, that the Bip 5 gives you a lot for the price.
Great video review! Thanks for the in depth information. I plan on buying an Amazfit watch just for basic needs. Do you think the Bip 3 would work for me rather than spending more money on the GTS 4?
I think the Bip 3 is being discontinued. This video was for the Bip 5 pro, a typo maybe? The GTS 4 is a great watch but I think the Bip 5 pro would definitely fit your needs for a "basic" watch and probably much more. And it is cheaper than GTS 4, so I would recommend the Bip 5 pro.
Sorry, you loose the always on display. It does give you a lot for the price though. I will be reviewing the Amazfit active soon which will hopefully give you more but gets into the next price point. Stay tuned!!
I did not notice that until now. That's not typical. But I'm not sure why that happened. I did have the screen on for over an hour, maybe it was continually trying to take readings but wasn't detecting anything? I will have to check my other videos now. Thanks for the attention to detail.
@@techgadgets100 yes I get that. I was planning to buy one but I hesitated because some review said that the insights for the readiness is a paid subscription. So I'll just stick with the basic Amazfit Bip 5 for now although I'm missing the Zepp coach feature. I guess I'm needing additional reasons to upgrade from Bip5 to Amazfit Active or Balance. 😊 I guess the paid subscription for the Zepp aura is a Con. If the readiness insight is really a paid feature after the 30 day trial, it might be a wiser decision of getting the Garmin for the training readiness feature for long term use.
You do get a readiness score each morning, this lists the physical and mental recovery, sleep RHR and HRV, breathing quality and temp changes. I show this in the video and what I show in the video is free. The readiness insight is the paid subscription which per Amazfit, "Generated using a Knowledge Base developed by a team of sleep health experts, the insights make it easier to understand your Readiness score and come with practical guidance to help you regain your balance." I got the subscriptions services- Zepp Aura and readiness insights for free for 3 months with a few of my Amazfit purchases but I did not even activate them because I am very against this new subscription service for everything mentality. And I figured most people felt the same, so I wanted to show viewers what the watches can do WITHOUT a subscription. The Bip 5 is a great watch and a good value. You can always "accidently" break it- and then you would have to upgrade.
Only because you asked, I have a customization video coming out next week for the Amazfit Bip 5. I will give you early access. th-cam.com/video/BvHSa7ZEa0E/w-d-xo.html at 15:05 I start to talk about the notifcations, its easy to change the fast replies but in the video I show you where to find the setting in the Zepp app. Thanks for watching!
There are so many available smart watch options that I think it is important to show what features you get with the watch you are planning to buy and which you don't. Many viewers like this information because if they don't need the extra features they can save money and buy a watch that has just what they need. For this video, I compared the HR, step counter, GPS, sleep tracking etc, to the Samsung Watch 5 Pro and Watch 6 Classic, which I have not heard any complaints about the accuracy of those devices. In the video, I did mention that the Amazfit Bip 5 was consistently within 1% of Samsung's data. At this price, I thought that was excellent. You are right, in that I could have shown actual data between the 2 watches, but I find that to be boring when I watch other videos, so I left it out. Thanks for watching!
Blood pressure is harder, remember they have to get FDA or equivalent approval in each country that they sell to. This feature, so far, is only reserved to top tier watches. They include a thermometer in the Amazfit Active, if thats of interest.

Didn't get a charger to charge the battery. Set one day and you have to set again.

Thanks for being an actual human reviewing these and not some AI bot like the 100 other channels, lol.
How do you know I am not one?? 🤔
I have the amazfit gts 4 mini but the watch faces recently are updated with purchase
Amazfit is pretty good with updating their software and features. Thanks for watching!
what is the difference between this and the Amazfit Active? i cant decide which one to get

@@techgadgets100 Amazfit don't have the option to get apps/mini games ?
They do, but only from the Zepp app. The apps are limited and pretty basic- but getting a little better. You can't download apps from Apple or Google.
But can you do that with the Amazfit bit 5?@@techgadgets100
Yes, they both use the Zepp app. Again the app store is very limited. But they both have all the basic apps, like stop watch, find my phone, alarm, calendar, etc.
does it have vo2 max feature
Yes, but VO₂ Max is only supported in the Outdoor Running mode, similar to other Amazfit products.

Can you track stationery bike
it can track your workout on stationary bike, HR, calories, etc but has no way of knowing dist.
has it dropt price
It is frequently on sale. On sale on Amazon right now.
I heard the step counter is way off?
I compared it to the Samsung watch 6 classic and it was consistently within 1%. I thought it was accurate.
I removed an app but now I can't install it again...?
How did you remove it?
Does it have a hydration tracker and/or reminder?
You can get an app from the built in Zepp store.
Need to know how to change the quick replys lol

No open water swimming 😢
No, but it is IP68 rated. You have to be careful with that. Water protection and warranties usually specify only fresh water.
