I did actually have a set of these cases. Very well made, waterproof secure. I ended up selling them because of weight. About 4.5kg each case. But if you want metal cases they are a good choice. Ride safe 👍
Yes but still among the lightest alu panniers :-) The vario-cases are about 7 kgs each. Even with the added weight of frames I think the Dolomitis will be lighter (also taken into consideration I removed the vario racks) For offroad I would select the soft bags. Good to hear the panniers are waterproof 🙂 They needs to be here in Norway !
And...its sounds obvious that soft bags are lighter. Just for a comparison: The 36 liters Dolomiti side cases weighs 4.9 kg each. The popular alternative MotoBags 31 liter weighs 6.9 kg and the 38 liters 6.45 kg. So even if Dolomiti offers 72 liters in total they weigh 3.55 kg less than the 69 liters MotoBags combo. Surprise :-) Soft is not always lighter.
Looking forward to seeing them, I had the frames and quick release system on my mt10 and they were excellent! Just like a triangle key to insert and turn through about 180° in various mounting plates and all the scaffolding comes off. I still have my varios and bmw have issues a recall with the options to swap for the revised design next year which I will wait for free of charge only because I want to capitalise on the central locking system and the fact they are designed for the bike (all be it not well) 😂. Can you still ride in Norway? Here in the uk it is unseasonably mild almost t shirt weather , in the sun today it gel hot , so much so that I even think I could have got a little sun tan at times . In almost November ! Very strange indeed
Here in Norway south west coast drizzle and about 8-10 degrees celcius. Tanning is delayed to next spring 🙂Very wet weather. Good to hear the frames is excellent.
Pretty bad for BMW that they cannot deliver paniers for a traveller's bike. Interresting fact is that SW-MOTECH was asked by BMW if they were interrested in producing the panniers for the 1300GS but they denied. One of the founders just talked about it in an official SW-MOTECH video. I'm interrested to see a photo from the back as in my case I would need a pannier that has some extra space for the exhaust. Otherwise the right pannier is too far out on the T7.
Why won't anyone release top loading cases that can be attached via the Vario mounts, so I wouldn't have to put scaffolding on my bike??? Someone told me that Lone Rider is working on something like this...if they come out with it, they can take my money.
The aluminium cases of apduro fits on the vario Mounts. You can equip them with the original bmw locks. The are available in size m 80 liters, and size l 90 liters.

@thetubelesschannel that is a surprise!

42L all together, or each case ??
Each sidecase is 36 liters, so 72 liters plus topbox 30 liters = 102 l in total 😀
@thetubelesschannel
That is not bad. I have side-cases, but don't use them.... Scared to filter....🤢
I have measured the width, it will be 100 cm. Same as total width at the handlebars
PLO parts in the cases - ⁉⁉😱😱😱😱 Sounds slightly scary ....😆😆
Better than Hamas 😲

Yes I also think it is bad for BMW, they loose a lot sales and recalls cost a lot. I will post here as soon as everything is mounted.

Yes it is very strange that all those making aftermarket luggage dont use the excellent vario mounts, at least for the frames.
