Nice demo. I didn't expect the gear to become that loose.
For those without a weed burner, stick the ring gear in your barbecue on high. If that doesn't quite do the job, stick the flywheel in the freezer for a bit.

+Scott M (Scotty2307) Thanks, good to hear from you. Good tip. I never tried an actual bbq, but last time I put the gear on a bonfire and it worked great.

Man, that was a lot easier than I thought it would be!
That is crazy that it just fell onto the flywheel, heat is amazing!
    Good vid!

+ChargerMiles007 Thanks, good to hear from you! It's amazing what a little heat can do. I didn't even use a torch last time, I just threw the gear on a bonfire and it worked great lol.

Yes, I had to sweat something in place once, I think it was 2 thousandths or maybe 4, but a regular blow torch heated it up, and it just fell on like yours did. I think I overheated it a bit in fact, as it was blue when I was done.

Wow that’s a great idea to save money on a new ring gear. I appreciate your effort to upload the stuff. I’ll try this with my pickup that’s missing the self starting sometimes....

Is this a ford 200 inline 6 with the 132 tooth ring gear (8.5" clutch)? I am having so much trouble sourcing a replacement ring gear for this and I know there are some mustang people out there who know where to get these. Pioneer used to make them but they discontinued. The OD is easy to find, but the ID is just under 10" which is what I keep having a problem finding. I will use your video to flip mine for now. Thank you for posting this. You saved me several thousand dollars by not needing to upgrade to a late model block with the 9" clutch and larger.

This one is for a 9" clutch. I'll check my sources, I'm sure I can come up with a ring gear for you.

According to my 1962 Motor Parts Manual, the original part number is C0DE-6384-A. Unfortunately I don't think they cost $3.83 each anymore. RockAuto has a listing for that part number under automatic transmission, their specs on the ID is 10.309. NPD has a replacement listed for the 8.5" clutch setup but they are "temporarily" out of stock, so who knows if they will get more. Dennis Carpenter didn't have any listed online but you might try calling them.
