  • Ended up being around 8 minutes instead of 5 minutes. Nice little receiver that sounds good.

Nice job..... what will happen when the idle current went to zero....I have a Kenwood km 106 amp .. manufacturer said to maintain between 9v to 18v .. when I measure I found it is 2.2 v....is it cause any serious problems...

Thanks! You must mean 9mV to 18mV, not 9V to 18V. I think 2.2mV is a little too low. The lower the idle current, the higher the crossover distortion, but I would adjust it since you do have a meter. No danger, though. The crossover distortion would be more noticeable at lower volume levels, if at all.

@@OldSchoolElectronics as per the service manual..it is mentioned that the voltage between 9mv to 18 mv.in between....sry I mentioned 9v to 18v... instead of Milli volts

I would adjust it then and try to get it in between 9mV to 18mV. Which probably means around 13-14mV. You could leave it as it is, which I think is not dangerous, but the performance would possibly suffer a little. You don't want the idle current too high either, which is like having a car engine idle at too high r.p.m.

@@OldSchoolElectronics hi ....My speaker enclosure having 3 speakers ..it is mentioned 8ohms..my amp can handle 4to 16 ohms....my question is.. unfortunately the mid speakers are not working and I got a 4 ohm speakers with the same size...I didn't found any crossover in the speaker enclosure ..only one caps is hooked with tweeter...my woofer is 8 ohms..so now does it required to add additional resistance with the mid speakers....

Nice video. Those pots can be touchy. In higher end units I have replaced them with 10 turn pots. It is hard to make a short video because one does want to get their point across.

Thanks, Pat. Good idea with the 10-turn-pots. Never occurred to me. The Luxman units are kind of rare. I try to keep videos short and to the point, but that is not always easy. On the other hand, many people don't want to watch 45 min videos of some dude working on a piece of equipment. I am one of those people. Maybe if I was new to the business I would watch longer videos. And more videos, I might add. In general, I mostly watch the videos of my subscribers.

Your hopeful short videos are like mine... :) This is good to know...I have future plans of a repair on a vintage receiver just as soon as I can find the time....Thanks OS! ~Jack, VEG

I can never make videos as short as yours...I hope to see you tackle some "heftier" units in the future. Thanks, Jack, the one and only VEG!
