- Double lock standing-seam metal roofing is specialized enough, but making it fit a curved roof surface is even more specialized. This is demonstrated by Chris and Anthony Paulin of Paulin Slate and Copper of Akron, Ohio, at the Slate Roofing Contractors Association 2012 conference in Grove City, PA. Filmed by Joseph Jenkins, author of the Slate Roof Bible, 3rd edition (www.slateroofw....
Americans are very generous when it comes to sharing skills and knowledge.
We learned from Europeans: many others are generous as well
I am the instructor. Many thanks to Joe Jenkins for both hosting an excellent conference, and filming, editing and posting the video. Unfortunately Kaszia, while the RBM works very nicely, it will not do compound radii, or a radius as tight as we usually see at the midpoint of the "swoop".
Thanks for your long-time support of Klenk tools! This video is awesome :)
Thanks for making great tools
Beautiful! Much better workmanship than other videos I've seen on TH-cam. Copper work like this is a dying art.
Very good
Thanks for the nice comment
From this second generation roofer you are craftsmans at the highest level.
This old dog just learned some new tricks 😆
Thank you gentlemen
Thanks for the kind words Peter
from a fellow sheetmetal roofer, job done well. true craftsman of our trade.
Excellent work, gentlemen….. I use to do a lot of copper work and learned quite a bit from this video, thanks!
👍 I’m a smith myself, fabricated and installed on many historical buildings, churches, clock towers, high end home goodies. Everything from flashing, chimney crickets, gutters, scuppers, downspouts, cupolas, gazebos etc.
Need a sales guy?
Great setup for the metal shrinker.
Thanks for the stretcher stand idea
nice to watch a real craftsman at work . thanks for sharing !
Great video, Thank's for taking the time to make it.
I have watched a couple different craftsman do this roofing and the difference in craftsmanship is completely different.
This is really nice work. We deal with a lot of bending tools like Wuko....it's nice to see how it is done by hand.
Nice job, I am currently installing an lcc standing seam barrel roof. I like the tips I get from this video
Beautiful craftsmanship, greatly enjoyed seeing your work.
Way to go, guys. I love your setups and effective methods. Bravo! Make it happen!
Wow. That's great. Little confused about the copper/flashing at the top.
That is cool you guys have a traing class to master your craft. Great work
Mad skill.True artist
Nice workmenship, keep up the great Work!
How many old guys in the crowd passed away during the making of this one bay roof? Great workmanship , great deal of time!
Wow! true craftsmanship, laborious, thanks for sharing
great job guys...thanks for taking the time to share...any tips on a "hip" variation that returns back into the house?...thanks
Great question. The answer is in the British CDA details, found here free of charge: copperalliance.org.uk/resource-library/pub-156---copper-roofing-in-detail Hope that helps-
Great video. I do a simular profile for the top. Haven't done double seam for curved panels. I do a cap seam with top and bottom ends folded and soldered.
That is beautiful work! Would you mind telling where the seaming tools can be bought? I looked at Slate Roof Warehouse but could not find these. Thank you.
There are numerous places online:

Thanks for your comment. Stortz and ESE Machines carry the seaming tools I'm using in the video
i suppose doing a double lock is belt and braces.
Nice work. We just do a single, no one wants to pay more for the double lock.
Doesn't take much longer to do the double. Go for it
Ty for taking the time out to record and show,Q1 How do you figure the material length before you shrink it ?
Hi Randy, and thanks. We simply lay a flexible rule or measuring tape down on the deck surface of the curve to be clad. Hope that helps-
Very nice.
красиво ! Руки на месте.
Спасибо
Сейчас так не делают( много часов работы( а результат отличный!
Спасибо
200 year life. Nice.
Not with the shit in our rain...
can you show photos of how you built the curved frame?
nice Video, look at my copper shingles✌👍
And good setup,my boss is a jerk always rushing me, so I can't find the time to setup properly
Nice
I wish I could find someone in my area of NE Oklahoma that could do this. I've searched a 3 state area and ....zip
We travel, give us a call to discuss your project
Check slateroofers.org. Look at the member map or the contractor directory.
We are doing a similar project. Can you tell me where I can purchase the radius dollys? Or at least the brand so I can search. Thank you for your time

@@christopherpaulin4886 Thanks
I only wish my Father were here to see this craft
What's the name of the tool that forms curvature? Cheers
Shrinker-stretcher.
How do you finish the bottom of the seam?
In general accordance with UK CDA Publication 156, Copper Roofing In Detail, 22-27
Name of this machine please
shrinker stretcher
where can I buy such an apron?
grab a wide belt, pair of 4 pocket side bags, and a hammer loop from home depot or lowes or your favorite store and you're in business
What are you Antiquing while you're installing it? Geesh, that's a lot dings on the side panel. Not good.
you won't see it in 3 days in Ohio and nothing was a tear so quit with your trolling
+fila32 Yep. Using old fashioned seamers on a shifty mockup to show how it's done, because there are some applications where the new fangled folders just don't work.
I'm always up to to learn new techniques though! Where's your video showing your better work? I'll check it out.
how a double roll lock is done.. son
Try RBM :)
good till the next hail storm, lol
I wish Mexicans were this detail oriented.
WTF!!!! A DOBBLE PONYTAIL????????
Wow.... i never imagined anything worse than a ponytail.... but its 2 pony tails

I know the guy who is wearing white hardhat. John
OK
Why ur delete my coment shame
nobody deleted anything, other than a spam link a week or two ago.
You know I thought I'd watch your video again, just maybe I was to hard on my criticism. Well I was right that was a real Amateur example of installing a Sweeping Dormer Roof Panel. All the marks left behind were unacceptable. So I'll stick to my original comments.
+fila32 Where's your video showing your better work? I'm always up to learn new techniques!
I do mine very similar to this, those marks go away as soon as the patina process starts, but I am very interested in a way to do mine better.
like the man said, buy american made tools, nice job
If you don't like criticism do it right . I guess it's "Hack Town Ohio USA"
+fila32 Not sure exactly what point your comment is addressing, but we are far from hacks, and I'm always open to learning new and better techniques, so post a video of your work in process and I'll check it out..
fila32 - why are you such an insecure ass? Post a video of your supposedly superior work and we’ll tear that shit apart
